ventured out to oakdale this afternoon and watched 2 very good games of footy for this time of year, Macarther bulls won the reserve grade game 24 to 4 and look as though they will be a real handful in 3rd grade this year! The match was much more competitive than the scoreline indicated. In first grade i noticed that oakdale were resting a few key players in david lowe, ben fryer and clint mason, however they looked very good with the majority of last years squad with the addition of a couple of new faces lining up today. I must admit i expected a fit sydney bulls squad to be too strong as i was told they have had multiple trials and start their season proper next week. However the workers matched it with the bigger team and defended set after set to keep bulls scoreless 10 - 0 after 40 mins to workers, second half was much the same, the bulls eventually crossed for a couple late but it was oakdale who dominated the match and ran out 20 - 10 winners after the second 40. A massive effort as it was their first game for 2010 to play 80 mins without a full strength squad against quality opposition, it was an excellent game to watch from a spectators perspective. i have also seen camden trial, and while they did not have a full stength squad against thirroul i expect the rams to be ultra competitive this season.
Oparnz very accurate assessment of the game, except it was 8-0 at half time. LOL.
And by the way, Clint Mason was not part of Oakdale's squad last year, he wasn't allowed to register. I saw him at the game, he looks a shadow of the man that laced up the boots for the workers. Actually he is throwing a much bigger shadow nowadays. Must have something to do with getting married.
was also at oakdale on sunday what a great couple of games both games producing all the things you want to see as a spectator.
very harsh assesment of clint mason tc no mirrors in the shed at oakdale?
Haha, there's too many mirrors, we have to keep some players happy.
We hope to get Clint Mason back on the field ASAP. As you may or may not remember, he suffered an ACL injury in our Golden Point semi final victory over Moss Vale in 2009. He never took the park last year, and his football abilities and heart are something that our club really look forward to getting back.

Four Group 6 clubs played at the Kiama nines tournament today, Moss Vale, Narellan,Easts & The Oaks. In fact Easts nominated 2 sides in the 9s tournament, maybe trying to increase their chances of winning it ;) . If anyone has any results of their matches feel free to post them here. Also if any other clubs have trials this weekend post results here as well. Trials and Nines tournaments are nothing to guage team perfomances on really but punters are curious how their teams will be shaping up this year. :winner:
Macarthur Bulls ended up fielding 2 teams in todays kiama nines - our team 1 ended up making the final :correct: and were beat by a strong Queenbyan team in the final - a great day for our club and judging by today the future is bright - we took 2k for runners up and will look at putting in 1st/res/3rd/and possible 2 18's on the back of todays success :correct: - also like to thank East's for lending us the Bundy Cup jumpers for today  which i now have to wash to get ready for our trial tomorrow at Oakdale - great day great way to start our club :winner: :winner: :winner:
Been at the Kiama 9s all day since 8.30 this morning until near 7pm tonight. freezing cold at times, raining at others, but still come home sunburnt, but I witnessed some great footy. All G6 sides performed well on the day Mossvale, The Oaks, Narellan but the standout side for the day was the Macarther Bulls 1s who won 30-0, 24-6, 24-0 and had a close one with Narellan to advance to the grand final. They came up against a white hot Queenbyan side who had the likes of Aaron Sweeney playing for them. They were never in the game against them which shows how strong the comp must be down there going down 30-0.

Funny how those red and white jerseys looked very familiar and I would suggest they may be a pretty good side this year in 1st grade. Watch out for them red and whites
yes the mighty red and white colors looked good under any name ;)

League gets clean bill of health in Macarthur area
Rugby League8 Mar 11 @ 10:42am by VERA BERTOLA
ON the eve of the 2011 rugby league season in the Macarthur area, the game’s administrators have given the game a clean bill of health.

The sport was rocked at the end of last season with the breakdown of the combined competition between Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League and CRL Group 6.

It was thrown into further disarray when Wests clubs East Campbelltown and Campbelltown City Kangaroos applied for Group 6 affiliation. A new club, Campbelltown Bulls, has also applied to play with Group 6.

On a representative level, Western Suburbs Magpies NSW Cup team has been stripped of its NRL contracted players with Wests Tigers opting to play them with Balmain.

Wests chairman Wayne Hardy-Smith said Wests would offer a “strong and vibrant senior competition”.

He said the season started on March 27 and would include six first-grade, six second-grade and 10 under-18s teams.

He emphasised Wests had no issue with the three Campbelltown clubs playing with Group 6 but were duty-bound to comply with regulations on playing and training within their competition boundary and have correct insurance coverage.
i wonder if interviewee will now come out and say that there is no train and play rule and it never existed      hope eagles and roos and bulls can just get on with it now....

Can you clarify that? Is that reserve grade?

Easts were told 4pm K.O for 1st grade.

Who is playing who at Oakdale on Sunday and what times?

Is any body putting the venues, times and teams playing up anywhere? There is no mention of times or venues on the G6 website.

Yeh Maverick, Reserve Grade/3rd Grade, will be trialing Kangaroos at Oakdale International Stadium at 1pm, the Eagles 1st Grade will be playing Oakdale at 4pm and Kangaroos at 6pm, footy a feast, no forfeits here!
