Moss Vale and Mittagong disappointing given both teams have only fielded mostly reserve graders from wHat i have seen... from a supporters perspective it is poor form as every other team has played close to their best squads.. cant tell me there are large injury tolls already???? Perhaps Disco could shed some light on Mossys situation...
I did on page 21. :cstars:

Does any body know the times for the games this weekend.
TC said Saturday at Picton but thats all we know at this stage.
There are a bunch of under 18's games on the same day at Picton, which start at 3.20pm
The first Semi between Oakdale and Camden is at 5.00pm
The second Semi between Thirlmere and Easts is at 5.50pm
With the Final being at 7.30pm

Whats peoples thoughts with the teams who generally play first are they at an advantage when they play their final game because of the rest/recovery in between or is it easier to go backup straight after another game as usually the teams who play second do ?

No worries Disco, didnt read that page.. have moss vale had any substantial trials yet? In response to your last post some of the players I have spoken to have generally said that playing first is no greater advantage than backing up... with the exception of last weekends extreme heat where the break between games is a real bonus..

Blues ready to entertain
http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/football-soccer/blues-ready-to-entertain/2108854.aspx

BOWRAL Blues are looking for a big turnout this Sunday, when the Blues host the Group 6 second division Nines tournament at Loseby Park. The competition promises to provide a great day of rugby league at its most entertaining level. The first game will kick off at 10am with the final to be played at 4pm.

Bowral Blues have been working hard to make the day a success and have been busy in the off season raising funds to purchase a new PA system, barbecue and corner posts. Bowral have also taken steps to build a better community club by signing with the GoodSports program for this year.On field the club has been training for two months now with positive numbers but there is still room for anyone looking to play or volunteer with the club this year.

Training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursdays nights at 6.30pm at Loseby Park.

Bowral would also like to thank their sponsors for 2011 The Royal hotel, Raine & Horne Bowral, Brad Sheppard Carpentry, Ellsteel, Demoforce, M and S Upholstery, Keenards Hire, Pacific Pine Moss Vale and Moss Vale recycling centre.

The Blues also said they were grateful to Group 6 for the opportunity and hoped all league fans would come down and enjoy a great day of football.

MOSS Vale Dragons failed to win any of their four Group 6 pre-season matches, going down to Thirlmere (13-12) and Camden (20-4) on Friday night.
President Greg Maloney said the side played understrength again, but still put in a good performance. With an hour break between matches, Maloney said Camden caught them "napping a little bit".
"It was a good trial, it was fast and physical," he said.
The Dragons were without a number of players, many who attended captain Willie McDonald's wedding.Maloney said Mark Delamont, Shane Martin and Josh Champion played well on the night, and the young players also did well. With no more trial matches scheduled before the start of the season, Maloney said he is not concerned that the Dragons have failed to win a match so far this year.

"I'm not concerned at all about it."

He said once the Dragons are able to field a full strength side again, they will be highly competitive.

"Sometimes trial games go that way. The bounce of the ball didn't go our way on the night

Oakdale builds on strength

OAKDALE Rugby League Football Club has retained the bulk of last season's first grade squad in a bid to make amends for missing out on the Group 6 premiership last season.
The Workers have also signed a few skilful recruits. The most notable new player appears to be veteran halfback Ronnie Jones. He played a handful of games for Campbelltown Kangaroos in last season's competition.Coach Brendon Reeves is pleased with the team's new look.It has been strengthened in many areas to galvanise a team that contains last season's club stalwarts.

"We're building up well, we're still meddling around with team positions," Reeves said.

"Ronnie brings a lot of experience with him, he's enthusiastic and plays like a 24-year-old — not a 34-year-old.

"I'm also really excited about Tom Moon being back in the forwards.

"He's a fitness fanatic and should produce some good performances.

"And there's David Lowe. I can't wait for his clashes with the other forwards, he's looking a bit bigger this year and can't wait to get started."

Another newcomer, Kyle Weh, has already made his mark, scoring a try in a recent trial game win (20-10) over Bundaberg Red Cup team Sydney Bulls.

There is speculation that Matt McBeth will hang up his boots this season, but Oakdale coach Brendon Reeves believes McBeth will continue to play for at least another season. Reeves is excited about the return of players who missed out on last season through injury.

"We have also picked up a ball-playing forward, Sam Conlon, who was with us last year, but missed the entire season with a ruptured achilles," he said.

Oakdale face a stiff test in the opening round against The Oaks.

Reeves admitted to being a "bit nervous" about the local derby game.

"It's hard to single any teams out as being dangers, but I think The Oaks are a top-three team this season," he said.

"They have definitely strengthened for this season. We'll certainly not see the big scorelines we saw last season.

"We know the knockers are out there and I can understand other teams don't fear us.

"But I sense a new steel in the team, so they can write us off at their peril."

Group 6 starts on April 3

From all the signings and or rumoured signings claimed by east c'town this season it will be interesting to see how they can stay under the points cap.... Clubs may be tempting fate by trying to cut down on their points by claiming certain players as 2 or 10 point players, when perhaps technically they are not. Surely clubs will not be that naive or foolish this season given what happened to the Oakdale club last year.. good luck. I have also heard that the finals for the pre season knockout may be moved from Picton this sat night, to give the picton club some respite from the tragedy of last weekend..

This is the structure
A club is allowed 300 points for it's First & Reserve Grade,
add on an extra 50 if you have an 18's, and another 50 if you have 3rd grade.
So Easts must stay under 400 points for the weekend if all 4 grades are playing, whereas a club like Oakdale will have to stay under 300.

im sure easts monitor there points very closely, i think g6 committee has done a good job of getting points out there so it shouldnt be a hard job managing them
