Fence sitter I hope your right. However doesnt answer the question as to why the heavy recruitment this year? Especially when they seem to have 3 first grade half backs and 3 first grade hookers at the moment, for example. Have they lost a heap of troops from last year?? or do they feel like they had a weak side last season and need to build?? From what I saw they had a side very much capable of winning a comp last year..... (let alone 3 strong grades) HMMMM??? last years half back will play lock his perfered pos and thae hooker will play 2nd where he played moost of his jnr footy for the eagles and any other players that miss out will play reserve grade and they havnt lost any players from tere 1st grade side last year seems like there going for for a bit more speed and skill than last years bash and barge ???

What will be the points situation for the ex-Bundy cup players? Being that "Campbelltown Eagles" are the affiliated group 6 club, will any guys who spent the last few years in Bundy cup be eligible as local juniors?

I think that is a common sense approach tc. Does the points committee just take a clubs word for it that a player is worth a certain amount of points? Is there any comprehensive background checks on player histories? Being a research and footy tragic I know for certain that you would be surprised about a number of players and where their junior origins are... There needs to be full transparency and rigorous background checks on players, the internet is a marvelous tool and unfortunately no one can hide from their past anymore. In relation to Easts, there are a very well run club with a strong playing roster and loads of depth. I find it unusual that they have seen the need to seek so many new players when I thought they had been building a strong club for a number of years?? By signing blokes like, dunley, waqa, neemya, blunden, hoare etc, it seems to go against what easts have been building for a number of years now, especially now players are going to miss out who have been there a while. Looks as though they are trying to buy a comp? The points system was introduced to prevent teams from simply doing that. As for their points situation.. They should never have to worry about it, however I think this year they will.
When you say "buy a comp" you should ask around how much Mossvale spent last year to win that comp. If what I am told is correct they spent huge bickies last year. And as I have said in an earlier post, Blunden is a 2 point Easts junior, so why wouldn't they want him and as far as the others go, I am sure the numbers have been crunched to make it work. Shane Martin was the only addition to mossy last year.

well they have only got rid of keno and most of there reseve grade are 2 point plyers and alot of the 1st graders are in there 5th year at the club or juniors and they are also allowed more points than other clubs to so i understand they will be fine with pionts... Damian wasn't let go but had to return home to Forbes due to family reasons.

TC6 you have a short memory. I posted the points rule re 2 point players on page 10. I also posted Blundens history which clearly states 3 years with Easts not 2 as you have stated above. He had his first 2 years of junior football with Easts which is what makes him a 2 point player, he also came back and played Jim Beam and A Grade when Eagles were in their first year of Jim Beam. I dont write the rulebook, I am just quoting it. By the rulebook he is a 2 point player.

going out to check out camden and narellan tonight for a few i hear camden will run riot over a below par narellan outfit by all reports narellan will struggle this season so ill jump on the odds for them to stir the pot at seasons end

No, i remember what u posted about him. 2 years back in the 90's hardly makes you a junior(i know you dont write the rules), and a year of bundy also makes you a 40. Correct me if i'm wrong, but did he not play at Mounties as well?

Just looked this up...
Category – E2 POINTS – Per player •Locally developed players and local players returning to their Junior Club regardless of status or grade previous.
Note – Definition of a local player; •where a player commenced his rugby league participation from under 6’s to under 16’s•Majority of years played at junior club – under 6’s to under 16’s •Should the majority be equal between clubs – Local Club will be deemed the players’ first registered club•3 Consecutive years with the club – Under 18’s and above
It would seem to me with this rule definition above that it would class him as a 2 point player. TC I have requoted the rule
Does it not say the the majority of years as a junior regardless of previous grades?
When we debated this last time you agreed this was right, what has changed?
Regardless of whether he played what ever level and whoever with, the rule states if you come back to your junior club that you played the majority of your junior games up to 16s you will be regarded as a 2 point player.
Matts first years of football was at 14s and 15s for Easts.

just heard some interesting news wests jl only put through clearances late friday afternoon for players transfering over to group 6 listing many defaulters at the late hour trying to prevent them from playing
me mate knows a contact at the Bulls and he says no dramas all 21 boys bar 1 suspended will be playing sunday and all other clubs that have wests blokes transfering that were listed as dfaulters are sweet and playing also some grubby tactics by the JL and not warranted
more will come of it next week as the group 6 clubs want answers why clearances and defaulters were not listed until late friday night 2 days before group 6 season kicks off
off to kirkam for to watch some good footy big weekend on the cans for yobbo robbo

Shane Martin was the only addition to mossy last year. Very true TC, shane martin was the only player the Dragons went out and actively signed, the rest is local talent except mark delamont who is a mittagong junior & shane rofe a picton jnr & willie mcdonald all having their 4th season at the club this year. If Moss Vale wanted to buy the comp if they could afford it, they could buy 4 ex NRL players thats how much room they have under the points.

A reliable source informs me that they are in the process of offloading players to stay under the points cap. A result of over capitalising with their new recruits for this year. Interesting to see who has to go I'am not having a go at the club, I admire what they have done to get here and the way they have gone about running their club, but unless they have had a significant loss of players from last year I dont see their reasoning behind the heavy recruiting of 40 point players? (they are not local juniors) Any thoughts?? i dont know about this offloading bit and we spend a considerable amount of energy and time to ensure our points are right on the day and no juniors are going anywhere we welcome scrutiny and under no circumstances, most players mentioned have been at club for couple of years so not sure what you mean about recruitment drive, i can only think of 1 or 2 new ones and if thats all we get then we in better position than most clubs with new players

I watched this young Blunden play last year and wasn't all that impressed and apart from the hit at Oakdale he hasn,t really stood out and I don't think it matters what point player he is and regardless of his past playing record is, he has to prove himself in group 6. I am not putting him down and wish him well, this is just my observation, he has been talked up a fair bit I just hope he can live up to it.
