Dragons must search for fighting fire

Dragons centre Josh Champion was sin binned late in Moss Vale's 16-10 loss to the Campbelltown City Kangaroos on Sunday.
THE season of the injury ravaged Moss Vale Dragons won't get any easier this Sunday when they host Oakdale in their round three Group 6 first grade rugby league game at Community Oval. The Dragons appear to be suffering the cursed premiership hangover. After losing four games in 2010, they have lost all four pre-season games and their first two regular season matches this winter.Moss Vale has at least eight players on the injured list, including skipper Willie McDonald.

Ben Murchie was taken to Bowral Hospital with a lower back injury after he was hurt making a tackle in the first grade 16-10 loss to the Campbelltown City Kangaroos at Loseby Park last Sunday. McDonald said yesterday he wasn't sure how bad the injury was and thought Murchie might have been moved to a Sydney hospital.Jack Handley hurt his knee in his first grade debut, while Dan Drewe (virus), Aaron de Jager (ankle), Brett Clarke (shoulder) and Billy Rofe (sternum) were all in doubt for this week. McDonald said Shane Rofe should return from injury this weekend.Despite only fielding seven of the squad of 17 who won the title last year, McDonald wasn't making excuses for the team's poor start.

"Football is a contact sport. The first week was very disappointing but we had a lot of chances on Sunday," he said.

The Kiwi forward expected to be back after the Easter break and pegged Oakdale, who had their 2010 campaign derailed after being docked points for playing over the non-monetary salary cap, as a top two team in 2011.He said the Dragons needed to stick to the basics and forget about last year.

"It (the title) means nothing. I'm not worried about last year," he said.

Moss Vale had a bad day on Sunday with the under-18 division one team losing 40-6 and the reserves going down 28-6.

not sure if this is true or not but i have heard that the eagles roos & bulls are getting together, to maybe take wests to court
& my money would be on the three clubs as some of these so called rules do not exist & that whats been done to them is a restriction of trade, have also heard that they may put a complaint into nrl to have wests charged with bringing the game into disrepute.
can anyone confirm this bd you should know.

Found out today young dragons player Ben Murchie has broken his back in the game against the roos on the weekend. Has a crushed vertebrate and will likely never play league again, can walk slightly but is wheelchair bound for the time being.I cant believe its this early in the season and the mossy club is decimated by injuries, 7 of last years grand final side were missing on the weekend and the same with reggies. Big difference between this year and last year is they dont seem to have the depth which is telling at the moment.
this is terrible, i wish this young man all the best, from what you say disco the good news is he will be able to walk again, i wish him
a speedy recovery.

Id like to thank all for their support, i too think its absolutely disgusting what julie luke, geoff carr, wayne hardly smart and the likes have to done to a great club, the drapers ,myself and many other fine volunteers have worked our butt off to get the game to where it is in spite of the jl, i just want it tobe known, i was suspended from west juniors for 7 years for sending an email to jl telling them their decision was corrupt over a ruling that they with held until it wa to late for our club to abide by, that was it about 12 words, none of which were swearing or abusive, at the time my suspension was for wests juniors and its affiliates, they are not affiliated with anyone hence i should only be suspended from wests jl and nswrl allowed me to meeting and functions and participate in all rl activities because they werent affiliated and the sentence was ridiculous, now we out of bundy and not in favor they sentence our club on 2 rulings that dont exist, i myself love this great game as much as all of you out there and put all my savings into sponsorship of many teams but now feel for the sanctity of my club i have to walk away, well done jl the game is better for you in it .....NOT!!!!!!!! oh and now i have to change my name to 8 year itch

Why would the Roos be shedding so many players? They have been going alright so far. Are they starting to fold under all this pressure.
??? what's this related to Mav?

Roos are strong- 4 Grades, just the 3rd Grade (who are trying real hard) needs the inclusion of a few experienced hands to help make us competitive.

We have a set ground in the Camden LGA for training and playing, so there's no question marks on our viability.

OK- couch's post deleted already :cstars: :cstars: Worse suspension record than Les Boyd!
The six players all left after 2010 to chase better $$$ at the Tiges, so good luck with chasing money in community Rugby League. Is rarely the best motivation even at the elite level.

And we are still chasing 6-7 players for our 3rd Grade team. Call President Heath Attard on 0415 721 070 and we'll get you in for a run against the mighty Robertson Spuddies this Sunday :correct:

from what i heard roos didnt let them go oaks have promised them a lot more money.

Have the Eagles and Roos started to flood the media? Get people writing in to the editors, write letters and petitions to the NSWRL. the ARL, the NRL, who ever will listen.

Common sense must prevail and until the world knows about what's happening, it's too easy to sweep it under the table.

Just playing Devil's advocate here, but the wording on the Press release makes it sound like the issue lies with the Eagles agreeing with the NSWRL to not train/play in the area as a condition on them playing in group 6, but then breaching that agreement. I'm not saying the Eagles have gone against their word, but if that's what the NSWRL believe, i can understand why they want to impose a punishment.

The only people who really care where Eagle's play or train are people with their own agenda to try and bring them down. 99% of people out there or on here dont care if they train in Campbelltown, Liverpool or Bullamakanka. Why cant the powers to be just let them alone and let them train and playwhere ever they like.

This is just like a broken marriage, where after they split, both parties keep firing shots at one another, but for the the good of the kids/men/football cant it be just let go and let both parties go their own way and hopefully live happily ever after.

I am almost sure if this was to happen any mocking comments from both sides would soon stop

im a player for the eagles and what is happin to our club is just stupid now ... We as players where the ones that asked to stay in g6 we didnt want to play in the wests comp and beat teams by 50 every week that would have turned us and other teams off the game we love and it would no longer be fun for anyone ... So these people like bd and 7year and the rest of the board have done everything in there power and more for the last 6 months and to do this for us and look what happens to them they are volenters that have gone way beyond there duty now and the rest of the clubs need to help them for there sake and the game in this areas sake ...

No Mossy, we had nothing planned with JL that weekend, they done there best to stop the Eagles playing in the 9's and G6, Bulls done extremely well that day at the 9's as you would of seen, the way our club, players and members feel about JL, the further we are away the better. Trust me it will get worse before it gets better!

Thanks mate, as long as we are fighting for our players, this makes the people trying to stop us look very ordinary! That's saying it nicely, no one in JL has put the players first and looking at there own backyard you can see the results, we will fight all the way as long as the stakeholders (players) want us too! Thanks for the support and to have so many players up in arms and supporting us is fantastic, maybe that is a great idea one player has offered! All players to do a protest at the JL office, that is your call but shows how passionate and supportive our players are! All I can say, let's keep on winning!
