THIRLMERE/TAHMOOR beat Campbelltown City Kangaroos 34-10 on Sunday at Thirlmere Sportsground for their first win of the Group 6 first grade rugby league season.
The Roosters raced to an 18-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game and the Kangaroos struggled to recover.

Roosters coach Adam Sheppard was happy with the way his team started the opening stages of the game, instead of the slow start they produced in their two previous games.

"We came out of the blocks well, completed well and got to our kicks," he said.

"This was why we shot out to an 18-0 lead. When we stopped completing and stopped controlling the ruck, the Kangaroos made us pay and fought back to 18-10.

"Drew Dalton [Kangaroos coach] led his side well and was a constant danger near the line, while their hooker tore us up through the middle in the later stages of each half.

"When we switched back on and started completing and defending as a unit, we wrestled back the momentum and that was why we were able to put some tries on in the closing 15 to 20 minutes."

Best for the Roosters were Eric Everett, Dale Hood and Mark Sheppard.

hi all this is my first post, it was a great day at thirlmere good days footy except for some of the results,
un 18s was a great game with thirlmere giving it to the roos & making them fight hard for there win, the reserve
grade reinging premiers are doing it a bit tough at the moment, but with virtually a new squad they will take time to gel
will be better in second half of season, first grade they were in the game until the last 15 min ended with only 2 on the bench
very young side, i believe they will come home very strong in the second half of the season & hopefully put
themselves in with a chance. its great to be on the forum & if the start of the season is anything to go by
then the rest of the season is only going to get better, i think this will be the closest comp in a long time,
i wouldn't wright any one off yet.

Any tips for the weekend?
Mitta v Picton, i'm steering toward Picton, however i still havent seen them in action, and what i have seen of Mittagong i have been kinda impressed.
Camden v Moss Vale, i'll go Camden, unless Moss Vale have the bulk of their side back
Roos v Oakdale,
The Oaks v Eagles, The Oaks need to find the form that they found in the second half against Oakdale. But i'll go Eagles
Thirlmere v Narellan. Thirlmere

Should be another interesting round.. I think Picton might come over the top of Mitta towards the back end of the second half, but this will be a very competitive game. Easts should prove too good for The Oaks, however if the tigers can find some form which has obviously been lacking in previous weeks they can give the eagles a hard, close game. Oakdale should beat the kangaroos but will have to be on their game for the 80. Camden and Moss Vale presents as the most interesting game of the round. If Mossy can get some players back on the park only match fitness can stop them from beating camden. On the other hand Camden have been continuing to win games and it can become a habit. Camden tp prevail, but Mossy to show improvement. Thirlmere will be a bit too classy for Narellan in what may be a high scoring game.

I must admit, I would tip your boys every week, I think you guys are favourites and love watching the toughness of your forward pack! Narellan probably wish the combined comp was back, so they could beat the likes of Ingleburn and All Saints, apart from that they should start cooking up a good soup and they will have a wooden spoon to stir it with! What happened to there big signings, Gibbs, Newton and others, time for a new direction Jets!

From what i am hearing, Gibbs hasn't even played a game for Narellan and hasn't been cleared from his previous club.
He was picked in the group team. and wasnt at G6 training on wednesday night'. The word is he will not be playing.
The club once dreamed of entering the Jim Beam Cup
I remember Oakdale hammering the "Macarthur Jets" team in a trial and dashing any hope of this happening.
Seems like the premiership that Narellan bought all them years ago has more than taken it's toll on the club.
Is this where they went wrong?

Love the punt!!! Ill keep ya to that!!!

Well i guess if the plan is to move up the grades a 17 man side is not a bad idea!

My tips
3rds
Eagles over the oaks
Appin over city
Warragamba to pip the young spuds
And i have to tip Bowral over the bulls
1sts
Eagles over the oaks
camden just over Mossy
Mittagong in an upset
Oakdale in a tight one over city
Thilmere over the Jets

When i was playing in group 7 thay actually had a tipping comp online which they published in there programs (which g 6 should copy) we should arrange one on the forum!!

Dragons must find fire

Elliot Esquilant is one of two Dragons picked in the Group 6 Country Championship side. Photo by Roy Truscott
DRAGONS skipper Willie MacDonald wants his teammates to show more passion in the jersey. The defending premiers' season is quickly spiralling out of control as they head into their round four clash against Camden winless.Moss Vale only lost four games throughout the entire 2010 season and another failure against the Rams at Kirkham Park this Sunday (2.30pm) will make a Group 6 title defence more elusive.

A long injury list hasn't helped the horror start but MacDonald hasn't used it as an excuse for their poor results. The Dragons came up against a red-hot Mittagong outfit keen to topple the titleholders in round one. Their last two losses to the Campbelltown Kangaroos and Oakdale weren't too ominous considering the lack of depth on the paddock.MacDonald was hoping Dan Drewe and Aaron de Jager would be back this weekend but was less hopeful about Scott Drewe and Mark Delamont. The injured captain also expected to return from an ankle injury that has left him unable to lead his troops into battle.

In another massive blow to the club, Michael Wortz will be out for the season after a motorbike accident on the eve of round two.He broke his elbow and severally injured his hip, and now joins injured Ben Murchie on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

MacDonald wanted the team to show more enthusiasm.

"We need to get back to basics. We are not doing the little things well like support play. We need to put some passion back in the jersey," he said.

"If not we will be leaving it too late for the season.

"The next few weeks are pretty important for us."
