Ive got to give the Oaks a rap, apart from the 1st Grade game, every game was a great contest, I think the 1st Grade Oaks team looks great on paper, with Sampson, Asa, Owen, and Apolo but the fitness of the Oaks 1st Grade let's them down, but Bowral, Bulls, Appin, Warragamba, this club 3 years ago was a DNC Club only, look at them now, 18's, 3rd Reserve Grade and 1st Grade, put a good business plan together and work for it! Our fitness is excellent and showing in the games, we must thank the JL for the fitness level we are at Training 3 nights a week, plenty of boxing sessions and road runs. Again, thank god we are in Group 6, It was another great day of footy! Edited by Blue Devil, May 1 2011, 09:44 PM.

These kind of actions make it hard for clubs who have to work hard to obtain & retain a liqour licence. People who sneak alcohol into grounds means the clubs licensee has no control over RSA and secondly its prohibited to bring alcohol into council owned grounds. It be may sound harmless to some but has big consequences to clubs and the licensee if something goes pearshaped , i mean look what happened last year at loseby with the hinchinbrook incident. If & when i go to other grounds i buy my beer there as it also helps support the club with their revenue raising and is also reciprocated when visiting clubs come to you.. I made this comment on the G6 Rep side thread but nobody has commented (I am unsure if all are aware of that thread) http://s9.zetaboards.com/Wests_Magpies_Forum/topic/7275423/1/ But can anybody confirm or deny that Troy Gibbs has been dumped from the Rep Side for not showing up? I would love to know the criteria for rep selection as Gibbs has not played a game in the G6 comp this year nor did he play in the comp last year? Edited by Maverick, May 2 2011, 10:31 AM.

Lions take Picton apart BY LAUREN WRIGHT http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/lions-take-picton-apart/2149657.aspx ![]() Robbie Carter wrestling with Picton to get to the line. THEY came into the match undefeated, but Picton were downed by the mighty Mittagong Lions at their homeground yesterday. The Lions roared loud and proud at the end of the match, and downed the strong Magpies 26-18.They led 10-0 at halftime and came out firing early in the second half.Quick tries to Tom Cook and Robbie Carter put the Lions in a dominant position in the second half with a 26-0 lead.It was a physical match, with a Picton player sent off in the second half as the tension rose.Picton hit back late in the game with three late tries, but the Lions held on to win in their first home match of the season. Skipper Ryan Powell said it was a good performance, but there was still room to improve. "It was a good win. We've been struggling a bit the last couple of weeks, so to get on top of those guys who haven't been beaten was really good," he said. Powell said the lapse late in the game was a mental issue which the Lions needed to quickly rid themselves of."It's something we really need to get out of our game. We really need to be able to put a side like that away but it's all mental," he said.Powell highlighted the performance of the back rowers Sebastian Sell and Zac Blackshaw. While it was a physical match, Powell said both sides handled it well. "It's good to see a nice physical game of footy, it's enjoyable," he said. It was a good day for Mittagong, with both the reserves and under-18s winning their matches. The reserves downed Picton 44-6, while the under-18s got up 34-8. Moss Vale Dragons continued their disappointing season, with a 20-18 first grade loss to Camden. It was their fourth straight loss of the season, but president Greg Maloney said it was an improvement on previous performances. Moss Vale's reserve grade also lost 22-18. |

Some interesting results from round 4. Well done to mitta, they are a good young team but i thought picton might have mowed them down late. Whats doing at The Oaks? 66 to 4. I expected a much closer game... was anybody there? What happened? Camden continue to win, Mossy 0 from 4... must win next game! Went out to Oakdale to watch workers v city. A very entertaining game Oakdale started with 2 tries in a flash, until a mounting penalty count saw city score 4 unanswered tries. 20 to 8 at halftime to city. Oakdale started strongly again and took the lead back, city levelled, then workers scored with a few mins remaining to win by 4. As a spectator it was a thriller, however the refeering was grossly inconsistent. the play the ball penalties are beyond a joke with oakdale penalised 4 times in the first half and city not once..? If your going to continue to blow these penalties it has to be consistent all game for both teams.. when teams are getting on a roll and asserting their dominance only to have the ref blow a penalty against the run of play it gives no advantage to the attacking team. City played well, they were desparate and determined and almost pinched the result, however despite a lot of things going against them oakdale clearly looked the better team. |

I'm glad someone has mentioned this. It has filtered down from the top (NRL), and while the referee's are doing this to the letter of the law, i feel it is to the detriment of our game. Suddenly our refs have decided to be picky on things that they have let slip over time. We don't want to become rugby union where you are penalised for incorrect form in scrums etc. The game you are speaking of yesterday was over policed, and it showed in the scoreline. Both teams got too many penalties which turned into prime field position, which shows in the 36-32 scorline. |

Refs went way over the top out at Camden as well in both grades and against both sides in reserve grade a Camden player was given 10 in the bin for incorrect play the ball after several infringements from both sides. Fair enough to penalise guys for not attempting to play the ball properly but to penalise a side when they are on a roll for someones foot not touching the ball is ridiculous. I dont want to bag the refs but I think they could spend more time working on other areas in the game and getting things right themselves before knitpicking on something that rarely would impact on the result of a game. |

is G6 the nrl? Then why are the refs policing comp like that? just let the game flow we go to watch the teams not the ego in the middle |

Apart from Troy Gibbs, who hasn't played a game, is there any players of note at Narellan. they seem to be getting served up week after week? I know they have had a solid base of juniors for a few years after spending most of their cash years ago, but the results have got to get better!!!!! |

Very interesting weekend of footy coming up First up on Saturday at Oakdale, Camden v Oakdale. Camden remain undefeated, but i'm sure this is their biggest test. Oakdale have not beaten Camden in the season proper since 08 i think. Sunday Games Eagles v Mittagong. From what i hear and read the Eagles are the benchmark. Mittagong are under rated and are coming off a good win against Picton. But i will believe the hype and pick Eagles by about 12. Narellan v City. Not sure what to make of this, Narellan have been poor, and City nearly got Oakdale. If narellan are going to pop up and get the ball rolling this is their chance. I'll go City by 4. The Oaks v Thirlmere. The Oaks form since round 1 has been poor, and they were losing that game by 20 at one stage. Thirlmere have had the toughest run, and registered 2 wins. I'll stick with the Roosters. Moss Vale v Picton. A much improved result for Mossy last week, hopefully they have got a near full compliment of players back. A shock loss for Picton last week. Even if Moss Vale have players back i think Picton will be too strong and doom Mossy to 0-5. |

is there a problem with attracting players down that way mate mitta and mossy seem to do ok
i managed to sneak in a few long necks yesterday and hid up in the car park sipping away
