Mittagong is similar to our guys, young, fit and fast, should be a great game. No Comment! sorry TC, Camden by 10, Oakdale does have a history that they just cannot be Camden, I think it stretches back till about 1963 City by 50, what I seen of Narellan Roosters by 30, They are the quiet achievers, team to watch. and at the moment Mossy couldnt win a chook reaffle at the local pub Picton by 18 Great to be talking footy |

Camden keep unbeaten run BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.camdenadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/camden-keep-unbeaten-run/2151654.aspx ![]() Picture by David Hilyander CAMDEN'S unbeaten run in the Group 6 first grade rugby league competition continued on Sunday with a 20-18 win over last year's premiers Moss Vale. Moss Vale, ravaged by injuries in the opening rounds of the competition, are yet to win a game this season, but they took to the field at Kirkham Park with almost a full-strength squad.Camden trailed 12-8 at half-time and were 18-16 behind in the final minute of the game.A last-minute try to Mahn Darley, his second four-pointer, gave Camden the victory when Paul Neville sent him on his way down the sideline. Rams coach Mark De Ubago said Sunday's encounter was a tough game. De Ubago said his team's sub-par performance would have to improve, but that he was pleased his players stuck in to grind out the two competition points. "We were a bit underdone with all the public holidays as we didn't train well, so getting a win up was excellent," De Ubago said. "Moss Vale were great, they really served it up to us. "It came down to who wanted it more and who could defend their mistakes. Our forwards were great they really led and stuck it to them. "Our players' player was front rower Chris Weaver (pictured), his defence was outstanding and always took us forward. Camden tries went to Mahn Darley (2), Ben Weir and Nathan De Groot. Chris Browne kicked two from five goals . Edited by disco stu, May 4 2011, 03:25 PM.

A strong finish for Roosters http://www.wollondillyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/a-strong-finish-for-roosters/2152310.aspx ![]() Top effort: Mark Sheppard (in headgear) was one of the Roosters' best players during his game against Narellan on Sunday at Thirlmere Sportsground.Picture: Chris de Jong THIRLMERE/TAHMOOR were too good for Narellan on Sunday, winning 36-12 in their Group 6 first grade rugby league game. The Roosters' coach, Adam Sheppard, was happy to win in front of the team's fans. "It was a good win by my boys," Sheppard said. "Our commitment in goal-line defence was outstanding after we repelled them several times when they should have come away with points. "We had completion lapses that gave them a sniff in the second half but we regrouped well and we finished strong." The best players for the Roosters were Mark Sheppard and Nathan Sutton. |

Workers strike at the siren BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.wollondillyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/workers-strike-at-the-siren/2152305.aspx ![]() Doubled: Oakdale's Nick Crouch and Gavin Philps ensure their Campbelltown City Kangaroos opponent doesn't get a pass away. Picture: Sean Cunningham OAKDALE almost left it too late to finish off Campbelltown City Kangaroos but a controversial try to Matt Lee just before the siren sounded gave the Workers a 36-32 victory. Some of the crowd believed the pass to set up Lee for his four-pointer went forward but the match-winning try was given. Scoring two tries in the first five minutes of their Group 6 first grade rugby league game, Oakdale looked as if they were in the mood to pile on the points but were held scoreless for the rest of the first half. Kangaroos hit back with four tries to deservedly lead 20-8 at the break. Coach Brendon Reeves didn't hold back during his half-time team talk to his Oakdale players. "I got stuck into them at half-time," Reeves said. "We deserved to be losing at the break. "We keep getting penalised for not playing the ball properly so we have stop doing that." A strong performance from the Kangaroos kept Oakdale under pressure for much of the game. An under-par showing from Oakdale allowed the Kangaroos to match them in the second half but Reeves took nothing away from his opponents' performance. "They were certainly up for it today," Reeves said. "They had a good, strong game." Oakdale have bounced back from their opening-round defeat against The Oaks. "I'm pleased with the result today but not the performance," Reeves said. "We had a shaky start to the comp but now we're three from four. "We have Camden and Picton next, so the games don't get any easier in the next few weeks." Reeves praised his players for winning the two competition points. |

Ref gets the last word BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM 04 May, 2011 12:00 AM A LAPSE in the dying minutes of Campbelltown City Kangaroos' Group 6 first grade rugby league game against Oakdale cost the Kangaroos a share of the points. With the score locked at 32-32, a controversial try to Matt Lee just before the siren sounded gave the Workers a 36-32 victory. Many in the crowd believed the pass to set up Lee for his four-pointer went forward but the match-winning try was given. Scoring two tries in the first five minutes of the game, Oakdale looked as if they were in the mood to pile on the points but the Kangaroos held them scoreless for the rest of the first half. Kangaroos hit back with four tries to deservedly lead 20-8 at the break. Coach Drew Dalton believes a few 50:50 decisions handed the advantage to Oakdale at key moments in the game. "I was pleased with the first half effort," Dalton said. "I think there were some bad calls. "Some of them could have went either way but they went against us and it gives them the momentum." Dalton took many positives from the Kangaroos' determined display. "I'm proud of the boys," he said. 'Best for Kangaroos were Anthony Dalton, Josh Radford and Chris Williamson. Kangaroos tries went to Chris Williamson (2), Anthony Dalton, Jake Graeme, Josh Radford and Jeremy Mackay. Oakdale tries went to Nick Crouch (3), Tom Casey, Matt Lee, Ron Jones, Gavin Philps and Graeme Martin. In other Group 6 first grade games, Mittagong beat Picton 26-18, Camden defeated Moss Vale 20-18, Campbelltown Eagles beat The Oaks 66-4 and Thirlmere/Tahmoor defeated Narellan 36-12. Oakdale host Camden at Sid Sharpe Memorial Oval on Saturday. Sunday's games are Moss Vale against Picton at Community Oval, The Oaks take on Thirlmere/Tahmoor at Dudley Chesham Sportsground, Campbelltown Eagles play Mittagong at Onslow Oval and Narellan host the Kangaroos at Narellan. |

Dragons boosted but remain winless By LAUREN WRIGHT http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/dragons-boosted-but-remain-winless/2152359.aspxn ![]() The Dragons slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat on Sunday and are still winless in 2011. Photo by Roy Truscott BOOSTED by the return of their skipper, Moss Vale put in a valiant effort but while they were close, there was no cigar.Up against Camden, the Group 6 first grade side went down 20-18, reserve grade 22-18 and the under-18s 76-4.But president Greg Maloney said the signs looked positive for a Dragons comeback.Dan Drewe, who also returned from injury, put in an excellent performance at five-eighth to score a try and convert all three tries.Skipper Willie McDonald who was sidelined with an ankle injury also returned for the Dragons and put in a good effort.Maloney said the effort from the side was a great improvement on previous weeks and if not for a few harsh calls against them, they could easily have walked away victorious. "It was a vast improvement. There was more commitment in defence and attack. Good quality game of football," he said. Maloney said the reserves also defended much better and hoped to have more players back from injury within the next few weeks, including Scott Drewe and Aaron de Jager.Andrew Jamieson and Josh hall were the other try scorers for Moss Vale, but a disallowed try left the defending premiers without a win for the 2011 season. "Without the disallowed try we probably could have gotten away with it," Maloney said. He said Sunday's performance indicated the Dragons were recovering from their "premiership hangover". The Dragons face Picton this Sunday at home in a grand final rematch and Maloney said he hoped they could send the Magpies home from the Southern Highlands with another loss.Picton lost to Mittagong on Sunday, and Maloney said he was surprised at the victory but that Mittagong deserved to win. "Mittagong played very, very well," he said. Moss Vale and Narellan are the only teams yet to taste victory. Mittagong take on the Campbelltown Eagles at Wilton. |

yes he has i believe, work commitments also prevent him from turning up to all our training sessions and i think the length is unfair, only weekend of game should be suffice. |

Yeh this is correct, he has started a new job which makes it hard for him to get to training, Group 6 management is making a tough stance on players that cannot commit, so Sammy will be sidelined for a few weeks. |

You have to be joking? 5 weeks for not training due to work commitments. This is not NRL and I dont think that would happen in NRL. Surely that is extreme? Do you have any way of appealing this BD? Edited by Maverick, May 5 2011, 09:04 AM.

It seems harsh but the group have proved in the past that that they will stick by their decisions, no matter what the circumstances. It is assumed if he cant train and play rep he shouldnt be able to do that at club level. Other players have suffered the same fate in the past as well |
