Is it true that the oaks complained about the strength of the eagles to group 6 people ???
I have heard the rumour, but we have been open and transparent regarding our points, a number of players where questioned and our club is fortunate we have kept good records. :correct:

Already looking forward to this week.
Mittagong v Thirlmere. Thirlmere keep getting results, but there is a lot to like about Mittagong. I'll tip Mittagong at home led by Ryan Borg.
Eagles v Moss Vale. Mossy will be desperate, and if the eagles trot out the same team as the weekend i'll give them every chance. Why were eagles down on troops? When is Hoare back?
City v Camden. City couldn't beat cellar dwellars Narellan, and have conceeded 36 & 38 points in back to back weeks. But i'll tip them to give Camden back to back losses
Narellan v The Oaks. Any chance of the oaks showing their potential?
Picton v Oakdale. Both teams are 4 & 1. Oakdale will be quietly seething at having their pants pulled down last year in the finals.
yeh TC, we have come in with a few injuries, Steve Harding, Calf Muscle (4 Weeks)Lale Neemia, shoulder (waiting on results) Sakeasi Rokotabini, Shoulder (could be season) Ben Ah-Lam, knee (season) Theo Leato, Knee (2 to 4 weeks) and Sam Hoare was out for missing rep training, he will be there tomorrow. and a few Reggies also on the injury list, we are lucky we have depth and I would rather now than later if you know what I mean. :correct:

Eagles unassailable in Group 6 competition
Rugby League9 May 11 @ 05:03pm by VERA BERTOLA
CAMPBELLTOWN Eagles have taken the outright lead on the Country Rugby League Group 6 first-grade table as the only team undefeated after five rounds.

The Eagles powered to a 38-18 win over Mittagong while Camden, who had been level-pegging them until this round, slipped back to fourth spot after going down 25-18 to Oakdale.

The Lions took it up to the Eagles for most of the first half but a try to Campbelltown a minute before the break put them 10 points ahead and dashed Mittagong’s momentum going into the second term.

The Eagles were the first to score and pushed their lead out to 22-6 before the Lions fought back to score a six-pointer and give themselves at least a fighting chance.

But in the end the Eagles were too strong and raced away with a decisive win to make it five wins from five outings. Their reserve grade is also undefeated.

Campbelltown Kangaroos had a cracker match against Narellan Jets with both teams unable to break the 38-38 deadlock.

The Jets would be kicking themselves after squandering a 34-6 lead. The Roos charged back, converting their final try with two minutes on the clock to steal the draw. Picton and Moss Vale enjoyed a fiery 2010 grand final rematch with the Magpies getting the better of the defending champions 30-16.

The Dragons were in the match until the last 15 minutes when Picton picked up a notch to consolidate third place on the competition ladder.

In the final match of the round, Thirlmere were solid 46-30 winners of The Oaks.

I like your initiative by putting up these stories robbo and you've probably noticed i have edited a few of them lately by putting the link and photo up. Important to put link up so i can be directed back to the original source.

I wonder how the ref went with the game between Narellan & City both predominately in Blue would have been hard to focus & follow. :cstars:

Doubt they will change, if they do they will probably put more white on it as it has been thier colours for more than 30 years.

Before the comments come, I know the roos have been around longer but there jersey has changed through the years as well, I remeber paying against them in the 90's with a different styled strip, same majority colours though of blue and yellow.

The white socks are ordinary though. :letmesee:

Self belief the key for Lions
By LAUREN WRIGHT
http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/self-belief-the-key-for-lions/2159401.aspxn

AFTER a tough match against Picton, Mittagong Lions failed to back up their efforts and went down to Group 6's first grade competition leaders Campbelltown Eagles 38-18.Lion's president David Elliot said the team did not perform as well as the week before and failed to compete with the Eagles who were "a good team".Mittagong also suffered the loss of Warwick Carter who was stood down by Group 6 after his refusal to play representative football.Carter had told Group 6 earlier in the year he did not wish to be a part of the rep team, but was told he had to play. The club sent a letter to Group 6 earlier in the season, and Elliot said he thought the club had done the right thing.Yet Carter was stood down by Group 6 for the weekend and it is hoped he will return for this Sunday's clash against Thirlmere.

Elliot said Robbie Carter put in an excellent effort during the match as did Erin Blackshaw who has improved every week and Sebastian Sell was "playing out of his skin".

Only five rounds into the season, Elliot said they were aware there was still a long way to go in the season. He said Mittagong had been seen in the past as one of the weaker sides in first grade, and while the potential was there they needed to "start believing in themselves".

Elliot said all they needed was to "get that mental side right" and with a few more wins they could put themselves near the top of the table.

The reserve grade were beaten on the bell 26-22, while the under-18s continued their unbeaten season with a 54-16 win.Elliot said a number of under-18 players could very well get their first crack at first grade this season, and said it was something skipper Ryan Powell was keen on to improve the younger players.

The Lions will play Thirlmere/Tahmoor on Sunday at home who are on equal points with Mittagong in reserve grade and only two points ahead in first grade.

In other matches on the weekend Oakdale beat Camden 25-18, The Oaks went down to Thirlmere 46-30, Moss Vale lost their grand final rematch against Picton 30-16 and Narellan and Campbelltown Kangaroos drew 38-38.Moss Vale continue to sit at the bottom of the table, while Mittagong hover in the middle in sixth position.

Referees' fear cost Spuds victory

By Lauren Wright
http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/referees-fear-cost-spuds-victory/2159405.aspx
IT was another dismal weekend for Robertson after they lost 58-8 to second division competition leaders Appin on Sunday.Coach Craig Pemberton described the loss as "controversial" and said a large part of the loss was on the shoulders of the referees. The Spuds were only down 16-8 at halftime, and after the break Pemberton said there were a number of calls which went the way of Appin.

Pemberton said he got the sense the referees were "intimidated" by by the "northern clubs" after a number of violent incidents in the competition last year.A lack of ball control in the second half, and numerous line calls which could have gone either way cost Robertson the match.Pemberton said Arron Ditton had another good match, as did Royce Harris who returned for the Spuds on Sunday. There was a price to pay for the loss with two players injured, one with a shoulder problem and the other their sternum.Pemberton said at this stage, there were three players who would be in doubt for this Sunday's clash against Campbelltown Eagles.

In other matches, The Oaks had a massive 100-4 win over Campbelltown Kangaroos and Macarthur Bulls beat Campbelltown Eagles 36-14.

Robertson and Bowral now sit at the bottom of the table, and will be looking for wins this weekend in the hope of climbing the ladder.

Blues fall short

By Lauren Wright
http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/blues-fall-short/2159403.aspx

THEY played their hearts out, but a field goal in the final minute of the game dashed Bowral second division's hope of a victory against Warragamba on Sunday.Bowral were down 10-6 at halftime and clawed their way back into the match to lead 18-14, before Warragamba scored and levelled with a few minutes left. The Blue's Adam Sargood said there was only one chance for a field goal and Warragamba took it

"Thought it might have been the day. They really played out of their skins," he said.

Sargood said it was a good performance despite the loss, with a young forward pack who were starting to come together.

"They're starting to believe they can mix with the men," he said.

Bowral had a final dig and Sargood said their last pass, which failed to stick was unlucky, but could have won them the match.Sargood said they were forced to play with only 12 players on the field for the majority of the match, and the men on the park put in an brilliant effort. He highlighted the performances of Paul Latigan, Mark Whatman, Matt Cuppitt and Dale Knight who kept Bowral in the match with a number of "crucial defensive plays out wide".

The Blues will play The Oaks at home on Saturday, as part of a "Back to Bowral" day. Both the juniors and seniors will play at Loseby Park on Saturday, with the first game at 8.30am.

For the Blues, Sargood said this match was a "must win".

"We want to play in the finals, we need to start winning. The ball's in our court," he said.

"We've got the player's to do it."

Sargood said the club thanked Bowral Toolbox who recently donated a push mower to the club.He said without the support of their sponsors Raine & Horne Bowral, Moss Vale Furniture and the Royal Hotel the club would not be as successful. With Bowral at home all day Saturday, Sargood said the club hoped to see good crowds at Loseby.

"Hopefully we'll get some of the old boys cheering them on," he said.

Great coverage once again, and its good to see the local papers giving the 2nd Division a mention, doing this builds up the clubs profile and enhances the clubs chances to gain more sponsorship, more sponsorship means a possible chance to put in a 1st and Reserve Grade team.
