Highlander, sorry to hear that yet again your club-house is broken into, what is wrong with people these day's, very obvious they who committ this crime have never volunteered many hours to build a sporting club so as the commuity has something to be proud of, i for one hope they catch the theiving mungrels and throw the book at them.

I find it very interesting that under a combined comp the fence went down and there were was no boundry, and now there is no combined comp the fence is back up and the boundry is back on. Fantastic article in the local paper and great to see the locals standing up for what they believe in, they do miss there senior footy, let me say me as a current coach for the Eagles i miss seeing your delight and mateship watching the boys going round on Sunday's at Waminda. Its a real shame in this day and age when most entertainment is unaffordable for our elderly folk that it is taken away from them.

Clubhouse trashed, again

BY LAUREN WRIGHT

Vandals broke in through the rear window and proceeded to trash the Bowral clubhouse.

BARS on the windows and locks on the doors. After a second break-in in the space of two months Bowral Rugby League's clubhouse may soon look more like a prison than a football club.Early last week the clubhouse was broken into and vandalised. Shards of glass were all over the floor, paint was on the windows and mess was strewn across the room.Bowral junior president Mick Galvin was at a loss as to why someone would trash the clubhouse.

"I think [it was] just kids, it's an easy place to get in to and they can get up here and get up to mischief," he said.

Mr Galvin said the cost of putting bars on the windows, the general clean up and a cheap security system was well over what the small club could afford.

"There's not much we can do. We'll battle on and just keep going," he said.

Mr Galvin said police had found the culprits who broke into the clubhouse last time.

"They were only 15-year-old kids so the police did their job. I guess the courts let us down and let the kids back out on the streets with a slap on the wrist," he said. While he said it was possible the same group had broken in again, Mr Galvin just wanted justice. The police found about 30 cigarette butts on the ground from which they were testing for DNA and are also processing fingerprints.

Vice president of the senior club Adam Sargood was also shocked by what happened.

"It really hurts. We don't have an abundance of money. It's a week we'd rather forget," he said.

Mr Sargood said most of the money that came to the club was volunteer money, and would hate to see the same thing happen to another club.Mr Galvin said a number of community groups used the clubhouse, but were no longer able to.

"There's a lot of community groups that use up here but now we've had to cancel that till things get fixed and cleaned up, so in the end it's going to cost the community, not just the football club," he said.

They will now have to wait for the results of the police investigation, but Mr Galvin had a clear message for the vandals responsible

"It's all fine to have fun but don't go around damaging other people's properties. Damage your own stuff if you want to break something, not what people have worked hard for," he said.

"I just hope the court system do the right thing by us for a change and penalise these kids harder than just a slap on the wrist."

Oakdale knock over Roosters
BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM

Hard to stop: Oakdale's Ben Fryer (in black) comes in for some close attention from Roosters' Leo Dynevor (left) and Darren Power. Picture: Sean Cunningham

OAKDALE and Thirlmere/Tahmoor scored three tries each in their Group 6 rugby league first-grade clash on Sunday, but it was a double from Kyle Weh and the Workers' goal kicker Bart Masters' boot that made the difference in Oakdale's 18-16 victory.
The Roosters' Leo Dynevor missed one conversion while Masters, who has not missed an attempt at goal this season, landed all three conversions.

Graeme Martin opened the scoring for Oakdale in the 20th minute, but a Roosters' try 10 minutes later locked the score at 6-6 at the break.

It took Kyle Weh only four minutes into the second half to go over for his first try when he pounced in mid-air on a ball that was not gathered from a kick.

Roosters hit back in the 54th minute to trail by just two points but Weh extended his team's lead, running in a great solo try with only seven minutes remaining.

Carrying momentum, the Roosters scored with a few minutes left to play to bring the score to 18-16, but the clock beat them in their bid for a win.

Oakdale coach Brendon Reeves agreed his team had been outmuscled for long periods in the game.

"In the first half they outplayed us and if it wasn't for some courageous stuff in defence they could have put a few more points on us.

"They had all the field position and we had to play in our half for most of the first 40 minutes. They are very unlucky not to have got a draw from this game, they were more enthusiastic and tackled hard and beat us around the ruck.

"In the end, we got away with a win by the skin of our teeth."

Reeves blamed a poor kicking game in general play for his team's lack of points in the first half.

"At half-time I told them we have to get our kicking game in order," he said.

"Our kicking game was atrocious and we had no chasers.

"We have to push up faster, you can't score points when you're playing in your own end for most of the game."

Oakdale created more opportunities in the second half, which pleased Reeves, but one of the highlights for the coach was Weh's second try.

"Kyle is an instinct player," Reeves said.

"He's very dangerous from broken play and is very important for us."

Reeves said his best players on the day were Kyle Weh, Bart Masters, Glynn Bester and Ben Fryer in defence.

Eagles swoop to beat Rams
BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM

http://www.camdenadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/eagles-swoop-to-beat-rams/2181290.aspx

CAMDEN lost their fourth consecutive Group 6 first grade rugby league game this season on Sunday.
The Rams were beaten 32-24 by the undefeated Campbelltown Eagles.

Camden coach Mark de Ubago said a multitude of errors and being on the wrong end of a 6-0 penalty count didn't help his team's cause in the first half.

"I was very disappointed by our effort in the first half," he said.

"We kept giving them back-to-back sets and when we did something positive, we gave away a penalty.

"The Eagles were very well led by Wayde Dunley, who set set up all their first-half tries.

"They are a very good side but are beatable."

The Rams rallied in the second half to outscore the Eagles four tries to one but the damage had been done in the opening 40 minutes. "We made some better decisions and stopped our errors," De Ubago said.

"We got more ball and played good footy."

Zac Besant and David Skurr played their first games for the club this season.

Chris Browne and Ben Weir scored two tries each for Camden.

De Ubago said his team would have to improve to compete with their next opponents on Sunday.

"We have Thirlmere and it's a must win if we want to stay in the top five."

Chaps/ladies a great read , thought i'd share this with the rest of you: Round 7 match review - vs Camden

From Behind The Fence

A bird’s eye view from a one-eyed magpie

Planking. It's the biggest popular craze since yo-yos. I'm not aware of any yo-yo related deaths, but I guess it's possible. Those things do tend to build up quite a bit of speed when someone is in the middle of going 'around the world'. But, I digress. Planking. I'm quite astounded by two things:

1. It's popularity (personally I think it was cooler when it was called 'extreme lying down').

2. The outrage about it. It's gone right to the top, with none other than the Prime Minister (you know her: Kath from 'Kath and Kim' wearing a ranga wig) publicly discouraging it. Personally, I see no problem with planking itself. The problem is when some imbecile decides to climb over a balcony whilst drunk to do it. The public outcry should be against drunken fools risking their lives, not extreme lying down.

Okay, you may ask "what does this have to do with Picton Magpies rugby league"? Go on, ask. Go on. I'll tell you what. It has come to my attention that the Camden Rams have begun employing the illegal tactic of planking on the rugby league field. During the 35th minute of a tense sruggle between the Maggies and the Sheep, Camden's five eighth suddenly went into the now infamous planking pose immediately after being smashed as he passed the ball by our own 'tough nut' Grant Syron. Obviously the members of the crowd were bewildered. Surely the middle of a footy game is not the right time or place to be trying out the latest fad?! I believe the linesman and referee were similarly confused as they allowed play to continue for another 2 play the balls before the linesman decided enough was enough. At last some justice was to be dished out and this trouble maker was to be punished fore lying motionless in the middle of the field like a, well, like a plank. In a bizarre twist of events, however, the penalty went against Syro and the Magpies. In another bizarre twist, as soon as the penalty was awarded to Camden their number 6 bounced up from his almost comatose state and carried on as though he had never been engaged in any form of extreme lying down. I am still confused. So if we are to employ this latest craze in the middle of a game immediatly after being crunched in a tackle, are we to be awarded with a penalty every time? Surely it would be a better example for the youth of today if we just man up after being nailed as we pass the ball.

Despite being traumatised by the latest craze our boys dug deep. In a good game our boys came from behind to beat their great rivals in front of a number of their former greats in the crowd. That's right, even Camden's 'old boys' couldn't get them over the line. A lot of questions were asked of the 'pies, especially after their dismal showing the previous week against Oakdale. But, thankfully they confronted those questions head on. And the resounding response to each question was a resounding "Hell Yeah"!

After trailing 10-6 at half time we kicked into gear in the second half. Immediately following the break Picton took control. In the 42nd minute a deft grubber kick by Matt Eckler was swooped on by Brendan Shephard. A lovely kick from out wide by Will Dreves made the score 12-10 to the good guys. By the 62nd minute we'd crossed twice more through Ben Hierlehy and Mick Brassington. At this stage we were in total control at 22-10.

So, probably not the best time to take the foot of the Rams' throats. Two tries to Camden saw the score all locked up at 22 all with only 4 minutes to go. In the 79th minute I could've cried when we passed up the chance to slot a field goal from nearly in front. But, it was seemingly all part of the plan. With the next play the ball the little dynamo Will Dreves grubbered, regathered and scored. Game over. Picton 28-22 in an entertaining game. Thanks to Camden for a good, tough contest.

For the 'pies Chris Young was his usual dominant self up front while our tireless back row was tireless. Kiel Shephard was hard to handle out wide and Matt Eckler and Will Dreves were always dangerous. Players player was Alex Peters and it was well deserved. I once described him as 'Astroboy' but now I may have to reconsider. If Astroboy played footy our 'AP' would pick him up and bury him in the turf just like he did to everyone that ran near him on Sunday. He single-handedly dished up several bowls of Ram soup.

Reserve grade was not pretty to watch. Against a strong Camden 2nds our boys did it tough with several key players out through injury, working away, and a couple from partying like it's 1999. So, it was a bit of a touch up. A few good hard looks in the mirror would not go astray here.

Mitch Fagan worked hard and Rhys Cochrane was strong in the 1st half before getting injured. Players player was big Matt Wall.

The 18s tried hard against a very good Camden team but came away without the points. Players player was a dead heat between Jack Digger and Jai Stokes.

This Sunday we play Campbelltown Kangaroos at Picton. The 18s kick off at 11:30 am, reserve grade is 1pm with 1st grade at 2:30pm. Let's have a good crack and get 3 solid wins.

Go the Pies!

Dad told me about that Appin player, has the whole competition up in arms, why would they register a 40 point player in 2nd division, that's no different to the valley back in 2009 that destroyed the Reserve Grade comp,
