Campbelltown Eagles Men of League Grassroots Gala Day Sun 19 June The Campbelltown Eagles senior club, who compete in the Group 6 CRL competition, are well underway with planning for the 2nd Men of League Grassroots Gala day on Sunday 19 June. Club Coaching Director Daniel Draper has lead the effort to ensure the day is a major success and mirrors the efforts the club has made in recent years to raise funds for charities such as NBCF. In order to mark the occasion and show their support for Men of League, the Eagles will not only wear Men of League gold laces, but also will wear a commemorative jersey in their 1st grade clash with arch rivals, Campbelltown Kangaroos. The jersey will display the Men of League navy blue and bronze colours in a “butcher stripe” design. These jerseys will be sold off following the fixture to raise funds for Men of League. Other fundraising activities on the day will be collection of gold coin donations, a raffle of Men of League merchandise pack, and a percentage of proceeds from gate entry and a jumping castle will also be donated to Men of League. Men of League merchandise will also be available for purchase on the day. Such is the commitment to support Men of League from the Eagles club that they are conducting a membership drive for Men of League and have set themselves a challenge to be the 1st grassroots club to deliver 100 new members to the Foundation. The Eagles will take on the Kangaroos for the “Fight for Campbelltown Trophy” with winning teams in all grades played on the day accruing points for their club. Special mention must go to generous sponsors of the Eagles who have funded the commissioning of the commemorative jersey for the occasion: - Andrew Ingram Carpentry ( thanks to Andrew Ingram) - Marshall Air (thanks to Dave and Karen Marshall) - Sleeping Giant (thanks to Warren Morrison) - Bettacrete Concrete (thanks to Graeme Hendrie) Fixtures on the day commence with Under 18s at 11.30am followed by Reserve Grade at 1pm and 1st Grade at 2.30pm. Presentation of the “Fight for Campbelltown Trophy” to the winning club will take place after the 1st Grade fixture. Venue for the fixtures is Onslow Park (Camden Showground) Camden. |

Good call, back to the real footy, Sam Hoare has done ankle ligament damage and could be out for anything from 4 to 6 weeks, hard to say with ankles, and if you rush these injuries and bring them back to early you will find he will probably make it worse, I have to give our Physio a plug, a huge part of our clubs success and keeping the guys on the paddock comes from the work from Chris Satara and the guys at South West Physiotherapy, the quicker they are back to work and back on the paddock the better for every one,

Well it shows, you guys love playing for the 2nd Division trophy, step up and play 1st Grade or find somewhere else to post your 2nd Division do-do, we are not really interested! All you are doing is making the group 6 site look like a freaking joke like the Wests Juniors site! Edited by Fence sitter, Jun 8 2011, 11:05 PM.

Doggiesgirl , as the women in league week is coming up, you are portraying women involved in the game in a bad light, I have met many non complaining women involved who work their but off each week. In Group six alone women have worked for years to gain respect in a mans game, and your posts have just blown all that. Stop Bitching and get on with it....

Well said Footy Shorts, my mum has done her time in the game, and yes she has been invited to the women's dinner next week, I applaud all women who work in the game but it's a shame with everything in life, a minority can give the majority a bad look, get on with it Appin, wether your player is playing or stood down you will still win the premiership, I have seen you guys play! |

Greetings all. Until a couple days ago I was unaware of this forum. I've joined here now because I have heard there was a bit of controversy regarding my match report from the Picton vs Eagles game. So, please allow me to clear the air a little: I have no official role with Picton, but I'm a former player and coach and life long staunch supporter. My only job this year (pretty much self appointed mind you) is to assist with marketing and advertising for the club. First of all, I have nothing against the Campbelltown Eagles (or any other clubs in group 6 for that matter), except that they are not Picton. No doubt that fanatical support comes through in my writing. Secondly, it is intended to be entertaining first, and informative a very distant second. If you look at all of the articles you'll see they are titled 'From behind the fence - A birdseye view from a one-eyed magpie' . It is most definitely not supposed to be impartial. It's not serious journalism, it's just my attempt at humour. If nothing else, it gives me a purpose on Sunday nights. As for the comments from the Eagles coach, I was simply reporting what was told to me by a member of Picton's coaching staff shortly after their conversation. I thought it was pretty poor form and in hindsight that probably tainted the rest of my article. Finally, as for my prediction that the Eagles will not win the competition (that was precisely what I wrote, as opposed to some other much more negative things reported on here) it's just my opinion. It's not slanderous or derogatory, it's just what I think. Now, let me illustrate my point a little. I am a Picton supporter, so my prediction for who the eventual premiers would be (especially after having a draw with the undefeated favourites) was always going to be Picton. And, bare in mind that six or so weeks ago Oakdale gave us a terrible hiding, so I was pretty impressed with them. Hence the reason I predicted an Oakdale vs Picton GF. I notice 'Highlander' put his support behind Mittagong for his tip. That's a pretty fair call. They beat us comfortably (although we were really poor that day) and they do look like a very strong outfit from 1 - 13. So, anyway, I just wanted to put a few things straight. I look forward to conversing with you all here in the future. If you'd like to refer to any of my earlier work to see that this was not a one off dig at the Eagles go ahead and check them out at: http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=7-2396-21996-0-0 or http://www.facebook.com/PictonMagpies. Cheers, and go the magpies! |
