The whole day at Mittagong will be a big day, 2 v 5 in 18's, 5 V 6 in 3rd Grade with semi finals up for grabs, 1 v 2 in Reserves and 1 v 4 in firsts, big day and should be a handy Mittagong crowd on hand, looking forward to Sunday and no UFC around here

Just wondering what other people think about the standard of refereeing since the spilt in the combined comp? I have watched a couple of G6 games this year and I must admit the standard has dropped since last year, Wests Refs are better than G6. I dont know what can be done here but JL has better refs. Thoughts anyone? |

Its no secret that there is a shortage of experienced refs in group 6. They seem to be blooding a lot of young, inexperienced refs at the moment for future years which is positive. However with the current shortage of experienced refs the overall consistency and standard is a bit dodgy. Like anything to get good at something it takes time, practice and experience which is something that the current crop of youngsters just dont have behind them. They need to focus on more consistent rulings especially in the ruck, as from what I have seen some teams are allowed to get away with more than others. and not blowing penalties for trivial things, its group 6, not nrl.. |

Have a look at the last video hi-lights I posted and listen how many times the whistle goes and use your own opinion why the whistle was blown. I dont like bagging refs as we need them and they can only get better. If anybody knows the ref in last weeks Eagles V The Oaks game, get him to have a look and maybe he may take something out of it. |

The refs in the JL would no doubt rather be reffing in G6 I dont think it will be to long before they all defect over for more of a challenge and better standard of footy with no UFC or games pulled before finish, they get ice thrown at them over there or bashed when coming through as kids so wont be long at all and the refs will follow the players over

Ill leave this fact with you. The last two First Grade Grand Finals in 2009 and 2010 during the combined period were refereed by Western Suburbs Referees. I think that says it all really. |

I had a look and if he the same bloke who I think he is... he has alway been like that, in my opinion the players should decide the outcome of the game not the other way around, but in this case i am not implying that the ref had an impact on the outcome of the game. |

I would not be to sure about big numbers of refs crossing over next year, depending on why they referee will depend on if they will or not. Just my opinion, I might be wrong, unless they have changed the rules its easy to get into jnr reps through NSWRL comp (wests) then a CRL (G6). I did hear that there is a group of former referees already in training for next season. now if they can find the form they had before thier retirement, the standard would lift greatly , i dare say the current crop would be hard to find a spot next year..... and thats in both comps. |

Camden hosting Oakdale today. Reggies 2.30pm & Firsts 4.00pm Should be a pretty good game, Oakdale still under strength and Camden fighting to keep their semi final hopes alive. I feel sorry for the unlucky Camden reserve grader that gets hit by Matty McBeth in his return. |
