I thought Camden were a little disappointing yesterday arvo. But i think they played only as good as they were allowed. Young Dean Britt went pretty well for Camden off the bench. Oakdale winger Ty O'Brien scored 4 tries, breaking his duck for the year in a big way |

Went to the Jetters game. Jetters well in control especially when up 36 - 10. Ben Baker has spped to burn and got the Jets home with a 70 metre effort with about 2 to go. |

City match reports now updated at: http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-2396-114664-0-0 Bizarre game of Rugby League to say the least! Jets weren't in control lovin when down 38-36 with four minutes to play! The Jets would have to be the quickest backline in the Group? Good move by Woodo to get Baker to fullback, brilliant and lethal back there. |

Lions left to lick wounds http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/lions-left-to-lick-wounds/2229415.aspx By Lauren Wright ![]() Ash Brown jumps on a Campbelltown Eagles player to make a tackle. Photo by Lauren Wright MITTAGONG Lions suffered a crushing 32-28 loss to Campbelltown Eagles in their Group 6 first grade match yesterday afternoon at home. The Lions came back from a 16-6 deficit at half-time to lead 28-26 going into the last three minutes of the match before they dropped the ball on their 40 metre line.Sensing a chance, Campbell?town Eagles wasted no time in finding the try line and a decision against the Lions had them roaring. Justin Madden was given 10 minutes in the sin bin for mouthing off at the referee, and while skipper Ryan Powell agreed it was the right thing to do, he did not agree with the call. "I don't bag referees - I never do - but that call then was a joke. He's probably going to find himself in reserve grade next week," he said. Mittagong started out flat and the Eagles ran all over them to put on three tries in the first half. The Lions came out after the break a different side and began to look in-form.Simon Butler scored two tries to give Mittagong fans some hope but it was not enough. But they were unable to continue the momentum and played in patches. "I guess we gave them the field position. We dropped the ball 40 (metres) out with three minutes to go, so we've got to cop it on the chin," Powell said. "I really liked the way we started the game and it's a habit out here. Once we start the game like that we seem to go into second gear." Powell said the match showed they were good enough to chase points, but wanted to be ahead on the scoreboard. "We shouldn't be chasing, we should probably lead from the front," he said. While it was a disappointing day for the Lions, Powell said Cam Madden in his second first grade match played well and was also happy with the performances of Troy martin and Warwick Carter. "Troy martin was outstanding for us in the front row [and] Warwick Carter again at the back was strong," he said. "In patches the whole team put in but I guess we've got to stop playing in patches and put at least 70 minutes together and we can struggles through those last 10." The Lions were without a few players due to injury, and while Seb Sell left the field in last week's match, he was able to get through yesterday's match despite not being 100 per cent fit. "Injuries are just a part of rugby league. We field our best side week in week out and it was nearly good enough today," Powell said. For Moss Vale Dragons it was better news with a 30-10 win over Picton. Full report in Wednesday's News |

If the Jets were able to kick goals they would have won by more, they missed at least 6 goals, made harder by the kickers taking it back a mile on each attempt. The Jets were there own worst enemy by just ball watching Drew Dalton as he has got to be the biggest and slowest half I have ever seen, especially when he seemed to twinge his hammy trying to chase someone early, he just put on a couple of soft ones to keep City in the game. I thought for sure City had it in the bag with 5 to go.... |

You have everyone talking about you Bobdown, how you are a scared little man that cant even put your name to the Advertiser stories, you probably look like the monopoly guy I think you should give credit to the Roos for standing up in the Group 6 1ST Grade comp instead of being pretenders in a comp that actually isnt a comp, everyone qualifies for the semis, What are you going to write about the next few clubs that are going to depart? are you going to bag everyone? Both clubs will stay where we are and you can call them what ever you want, but the Logos on their jersey's and every story in the paper say they are CAMPBELLTOWN, we are in a good place and we will sit from the other side of the water line and watch you kill what ever is left!

Picton went down to Moss Vale in 1st grade, with wins in reserves and 18s. Match review below: http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?client=1-2396-21996-0-0&sID=76168&&news_task=DETAIL&articleID=16359619§ionID=76168 Is anyone actually offended by on-field swearing at the footy? That’s not a rhetorical question. I really want an answer. If anyone reading this can honestly say that they are offended by a player dropping the ‘f bomb’, or any other ‘bomb’, please drop me a line. I’d be very interested to know. The reason I ask is: On at least two occasions (I think it was more like three or four), in reserve grade alone, Picton players were penalised for swearing. I know it happened in 1st grade as well. To put it simply, this is a joke. Not one spectator is coming through those gates on a Sunday expecting to see a ‘G’ rated feature. Not one. All know that they’re coming to see two teams of fully grown, testosterone fuelled men, playing the most brutal ball sport in Australia. Anger and frustration are an unavoidable part of the experience, and the occasional outburst is expected by, I dare say, everyone watching. So what’s wrong with the referees? Why are they treating players like naughty school children? The answer is: nothing. I am 100% sure that they are simply acting on orders from those in charge of group 6. What a joke. What game do these men think they are ‘managing’? This is country rugby league. Rugby league has always been the working class game. It still is. The language used on the field is the same used in any country pub on any Saturday afternoon around the nation. It’s the same language as that which is used by the majority of spectators at the footy. What are players supposed to say? “Oh bother, I dropped the ball”?! “Gee whiz, make the ‘jolly’ tackle, for ‘goodness’ sake”?! Please. This over officiating of our game is completely ruining the spectacle. Most, if not all, clubs struggle enough to get numbers through the gate as it is without these referees blowing the whistle non-stop and slowing the game to a stand still. For god’s sake, just turn a deaf ear and let the game flow. And while I’m at it, what’s with the automatic send-off of anyone involved in fisticuffs? Why even try to stamp it out? Are those in charge of our sport that out of touch with the fans? Human beings are animals. And rugby league supporters are no different. We love a good fight (providing it’s fair). There’s a reason the UFC is booming. People love it. I’m not saying the game needs fighting to be entertaining. I’m no ‘Reg Reagan’, but, look at the game we are playing. The occasional flair up is going to happen. Supporters know that. They’ve known it for 100 years. And you know what? They’re still watching. On Sunday the Moss Vale Dragons travelled up to Picton for 3 games of good, working class, testosterone fuelled, foul-mouthed, violent, footy action. Bragging rights were split with wins to Picton in the 18’s and reserve grade, but Mossy stealing the chocolates in the main game. Our 18s had a good 30 – 4 win. It’s a shame our boys haven’t shown a bit more consistency during the year. They’ve had some good wins, just not enough. On their day they can trouble anyone. Let’s hope for the rest of the year they go out and upset some of the top teams. If they do, who knows? Mathematically they’re still in it. Reserve grade won. 32 – 4. Unfortunately the game was uglier than the love child of the elephant man and Susan Boyle. The majority of the match was just a dropping contest. At one stage, early in the second half I thought to myself “our spectators deserve better than this”. Finally, late in the game we held the ball, got a roll on and some quick play the balls, and managed to spread it wide. Three tries in the last 15 minutes made the score look more convincing than it should’ve. At this stage reggies are in 6th place, 3 points behind the Kangaroos. I think we need 3 wins out of our last 4 to be a chance. The Kangaroos have a very tough run home against Camden, The Oaks, us, and Mittagong. We just may jump them. If we do, look out semi-finals, we’re coming! Players player was Luke Heath. Two games back, two ‘best on grounds’. Personally, and selfishly, I’d love him to stay in reserves, but I just don’t like our chances. First grade are still lacking that consistency. Two steps forward, two steps back. A good win against the lions last week, an ordinary loss to the dragons this week. I keep hoping it’ll be a repeat of the last couple years where we got a roll on in August and proved to be near unstoppable through September. There’s no reason we can’t. The talent is definitely there. Everyone knows that. Not even cowardly newspaper columnists with secret identities would deny we have what it takes. We just have to put it together. Every week. The game was pretty close for the majority. And although the dragons always led, for 70 minutes we were only ever a whisker away from coming back and snatching the win. A couple late tries to Mossy sealed the deal, however. Although we were average at best, the Dragons deserve credit. They’re a much better side than they’re position on the ladder suggests. In fact I must say, as far as talent goes, this is by far the most evenly spread competition I have ever seen. There is literally not one easy-beat team involved. All the more reason for Picton to find some consistency now. Right now. Players player was Matt White who played above his weight as usual. Special mention to big Chris Bowers for ‘bringing back the biff’ and getting sent off. Hello Bevo. Next week we have Oakdale at Oakdale. What better motivation is there than knowing you’ll get spanked if you don’t pull your finger out?! We know we can do it. We just have to get out there and actually do it. Come on the ‘pies!! |

Very good LH, I don't think I ever actually left!! Got a few irons in the fire at the moment professionally, but will always help the City club where I can, particularly with such dedicated people like the Attard family so capably driving the club back towards its former glory. When Julie took over as Junior Secretary in 2006, the Roos were on death's door with only 9 teams. This year seniors and juniors have a combined 22 teams, which is the most we have had in our history. The drive and passion of Heath and Julie are a big factor behind this resurgence. And with all the positive press we receive from being back in the 1st Grade comp, this number is sure to grow again next season.

Never get into an argument with a fool. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. However Bobcat, you seem very interested in what the Campbelltown City RLFC gets up to and how we are performing, so here are a few facts for you to ponder: 1. The CCKRLFC is a foundation CRL Group 6 club as at 1933. We have only ever been affiliated to the CRL and Group 6 (1933- 1983 + 2011). 2. For a few years in the 1950s we were in the NSWRL Parramatta Junior League as Campbelltown West, as the club was involved in a similar boundary dispute as we are today. Back then but, no-one gave a rats about the train/ play rule and the team played where the DFO is now on Queen Street. 3. After the combined competition split, the life members, players, officials and volunteers of the CCKJRLFC instructed its Board to re-form the senior club. The CCKRLFC was re-formed and its members unanimously decided to affiliate with CRL Group 6. The club's board was instructed to act upon its constituents' wishes. 4. The train/ play rule saw us take our senior club to Camden. Camden has opened our eyes to what is possible. We are very happy in the Group 6 competition. We have a fenced in ground, great facilities, a beer licence and the ability to grow our club. Name me a field in Campbelltown as good as Onslow Park for semi- professional Rugby League? 5. Sure our 1st Grade results haven't been great, but we are a youthful club, only 2nd year back. We have already claimed an U/18C title in 2009 with 16yos and a Reserve Grade title in 2010. 2012 will see us emerge as a 1st Grade power. Our club has now played 53 games in the 1st, Reserve, 2nd Division and U/18A comps this season. Not one fight or forfeit. We have a top Rugby League community rebuilding around the Kangaroos and the Court Tavern (yes we still have a beer 'in area'). We are very happy and feel that our decision is now well and truly justified. Finally, our volunteers raise big money a year now to put strong semi- professional RL senior teams on the park in Kangaroos colours. We would destroy the teams in the Wests senior comp. Who else in Wests, bar Easts, has the infrastructure to raise the $80K+ needed to compete in G6 1st Grade? |
