can some one reply, agreeing or disagreeing, but i believe most will agree that this was a great comp when it started & that the level of this comp during the year has improved in every grade & every division, this comp is becoming one of the best if not the best group comps in NSW & we are envied by other areas, as shown by the interest & publicity. Group 6 has become something that the new commission should be looking at. But the dissapointing part in is the standard of rugby league in the group 6 comp over all 5 grades is increasing but the level of refereeing is not increasing, this is something that will hold our area back, i am worried that the finals & grand finals will not be decided by the players. the quality in footy is increasing faster than the referees can keep up, i believe this is an urgent issue that needs too be addressed before the semis. would like positive feed back on this, i am not bagging, would just love too see players decide games. |

The fact is, the games are so close every week doesnt matter 8th play 1st, its end up in a close contest, thats where the Refs come in, they are human and they do make mistakes, if these games where one sided it wouldnt make a differance but being this close, a forward pass call or strip call can mean the result in teh game, I think they need better support from the touch judges, I hear a few refs from the other side of the border is making the switch for next year and that should eliminate that problem. Like to give our guys a big rap, fantastic effort from all grades, well done to all coaching staff, every thing from the move and littlle hurdles thrown at us and we still come out on top, to all the players, you are an asset to the Campbelltown area and you all represent the Campbelltown area in a good decipline way. I would like to say to the Reggies boys, great effort again today, we are still improving week in week out and well done to the 3rd Grade, good effort today and great club spirit shown by the boys, what a good atmosphere they gave to the game! Finally the 1st Grade, tough effort and a fantastic win, Barnzy and Hazo, you guys put together some great plays today that at times shocked the Oakdale defence, the players are responding well to your coaching and the serious stuff starts in a couple of weeks. |

Dragons rule roost http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/dragons-rule-roost/2251356.aspx By Lauren Wright ![]() Andrew Jamieson and Brad Meuleman muscle up in defence. Photo by Lauren Wright MOSS VALE Dragons dominated the den yesterday with a 34-10 thumping over second place Thirlmere-Tahmoor Roosters in their Group 6 first grade match at Community Oval. With their season well and truly over and no hope of a semi-finals berth, the pressure was off the Dragons and they were back to their best.Moss Vale piled on 24 unanswered points in the first half to go into the break with a solid lead. With all the momentum going their way, the Dragons continued their dominant performance in the second half despite letting in two tries. The Roosters threw everything they had at Moss Vale but the Dragons were too good. Now with a few wins under their belt, Dragons' skipper Willie McDonald said the team now had the self belief they could win games. "I think it's just a bit of self belief. I don't know what's happened but for some reason it's just clicked," he said. "There's no pressure so the boys have gone out there, gone back to basics and playing footy for their enjoyment." Moss Vale have now beaten three of the top four sides, and McDonald said their run of success gave them confidence to finish the season strongly over the next two weeks. The Dragons will face Narellan this Sunday away, but despite the Jets sitting in last place on the ladder, McDonald warned they would still be in for a tough match. "We've beaten some of the top teams [but] I think we can't take Narellan too lightly," he said. "I think it'll be a big game especially up in Narellan but I'm pretty confident if we can play like we did [today] and keep on improving on the little things, there's no reason we can't finish off the season with another two [wins]." McDonald said he was impressed with the team's defensive effort yesterday to only allow Thirlmere to cross the line twice. "Our defence I was pretty impressed with and just the attitude and working for each other," he said. With Moss Vale set to finish the season on a high, McDonald said over the last few weeks, the team had started to work together as a team. |

Bowral beaten http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/bowral-beaten/2251355.aspx By Lauren Wright ![]() Dom Pringle offloads the ball. Photo by Lauren Wright DOWN by six at the halftime break, Bowral were confident they could pull off a win against Warragamba on Saturday. But mistakes late in the second half, and a stack of penalties against them left Bowral on the wrong end of a 22-7 score line.Skipper Adam Sargood said they could have beaten them, but their job was made more difficult by the referee. "The man in the middle didn't give us the calls," he said. "Every 50-50 call went the other way. With your season on the line that's pretty do-do," he said. Sargood said the team played really well against a much larger side and "gave as good as we got". Warragamba was only up 6-0 at halftime, and Sargood said they were worried for a long period of the match. After a try to Josh Hartnett in the second half converted by Dale Knight, a field goal to Todd Fairburn gave Bowral a 7-6 lead with 10 minutes left. It was then Sargood said they were heavily penalised by the referee and only had possession twice more in the final 10 minutes.Up against a far more experienced side, Bowral lacked one or two more experienced players according to Sargood, but he could not fault the commitment of the team on Saturday. "[They] were awesome," he said. Sargood commended the effort of Tyran Moran who knocked himself out after he found himself in the wrong position in a tackle. The commitment's there, it's finishing off that's our biggest problem," Sargood said. He said they had led and dominated every team in the competition for long periods but could not last that extra 10 minutes to seal the win.Sargood again highlighted the potential of the team if they continued to stick together in the coming years. "Next year they'll be where Warragamba are this year," he said. Bowral face The Oaks this weekend at home, but their biggest clash will be against Robertson in two weeks time.He said it would be the last game for a number of players and Bowral's last chance to "get one up on Robbo" this year. "Our goal now is to win the local derby." |

' Loss 'needed' by Oakdale BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.wollondillyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/-loss-needed-by-oakdale/2252858.aspx ![]() Back off: Oakdale's Nick Crouch prepares to fend off his Campbelltown Eagles opponent. Picture: Sean Cunningham OAKDALE threw away their big chance of putting themselves in the box seat to win the Group 6 rugby league first grade minor premiership, following their 36-18 loss to Campbelltown Eagles. The clash of the titans in first and second place on the ladder didn't disappoint with a hard-fought contest taking place in between thunder claps at Onslow Oval, Camden. Oakdale opened the scoring with a try in the sixth minute to Matt McCauley but the Eagles replied six minutes later with a try of their own. Another try to Oakdale's Kyle Weh gave the Workers the lead for the final time in the game. Straight from the kick-off, Ron Jones was judged to have knocked on although the ball clearly went behind him. But Wayde Dunley capitalised for the Eagles with a try in the corner from the first set following the turnover. Racing to a 22-8 lead at the break, the Eagles momentarily allowed Oakdale back in the game at the start of the second half. Oakdale reduced the Eagles' lead to 22-18 with tries to Ty O'Brien and Ben Fryer, before the Eagles ran away with the game with three unanswered tries. A frustrated Oakdale coach Brendon Reeves was well aware of what went wrong but admitted that the Eagles were the better team on the day. "I'm shattered with our lack of patience," Reeves said. "We try to score off every single play, instead of putting the other team under pressure. "If we can't get the message across about being patient then there's going to have to be a few changes. "We're not going to win finals games if we play that way, so maybe this is the wake-up call for us and the loss we needed." The Eagles took advantage of Oakdale's poor kicking game. "We put in a few ordinary kicks and they scored tries off them," Reeves said. "We have to chase the ball if we put a bad kick in and we have to take our time. "Campbelltown chased the ball and attacked it, they didn't just stand around. "The boys put in a good effort but we just have to cut out the dumb stuff." Reeves is looking to remedy the situation before his team takes on Thirlmere/Tahmoor on Sunday. "We play Thirlmere next and it's certainly going to be hard to beat them," he said. "We'll have to focus on our patience against the Roosters." Eagles' tries went to Craig Moustakas (2), Wayde Dunley, John Da Silva, Nick Thomas and Stephen Harding. |

Spuds roll into semis http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/spuds-roll-into-semis/2253899.aspx By Lauren Wright ![]() Matt Rolles and Scott Shepherd leave the field after Sunday's match against Appin. Photo by Georgie Beresford WHILE Robertson were dealt their second loss in a row on Sunday, coach Craig Pemberton said the team remained upbeat and positive heading into the semis.Coming off a 40-6 loss against Warragamba the week before, Pemberton said the Spuds started out a bit slow on Sunday against Appin with poor ball control and failure to complete their sets costing them possession and points. For the best part of the first half, Pemberton said they were running out of their "red zone" and were a little bit intimidated by the competition leaders. They went into the halftime break 24-4 down but settled down in the second half to put on 14 points to 4. "They started defending better. The boys are staying full of confidence," Pemberton said. He said Matt Rolles and Clarke Webb played well, as did the two under-18s players who backed up for them in second grade. With only two matches left this season, including their final match against Bowral, Pemberton was confident they could win both and expected a few players to return.2011 has been the Spuds' first season back in the Group 6 competition and Pemberton said the whole club was pleased with how they had performed. "Really happy with the way we've performed. The boys have performed way above the expectations we had as a club and for me as a coach," he said. "We're ready to roll for semi-finals." |

I think in the forum rules it says you cannot bag the organisers of the comp, well i'm not going to do that, but the way in which the finals series is being conducted is nothing short of a joke. The Group has failed to set which fixtures will be played at which ground. From what we know, in week 1 Saturday night will be played at Picton, and Sunday will be hosted by Camden. Normally the saturday night fixture is elimination 4 v 5 and Sunday is 2 v 3. But the only thing that is guaranteed is that Picton will get a home game on the Saturday night, because the Group want to maximise Gate Takings, Nevermind the side that toils away all year and finishes well ahead of them. So when Oakdale finish 2nd, and Picton finish 3rd, Picton will host Oakdale on a Saturday night (Dejavu). Or when Picton finish 4th and Mittagong finish 5th, Picton will host Mittagong. I certainly hope that this nonsense is not going to continue into week 2. It is extremely un-professional Edited by tc6_11, Aug 10 2011, 10:01 PM.

I think your a bit paranoid tc, maybe your more worried about history repeating. At the end of the day it doesn't matter where you play its about how a team mentally prepares for a game, a footy field is the same no matter where you play

I tend to agree with tc on this one, this move is unprecedented. set the venues in advance and whoever finishes wherever plays at that venue like it always has been, this idea of waiting to see the outcome of semi final placings in order to allocate grounds for max profit is a cop out, the group is already taking the grand final profits and clubs are seeing less and less of the takings. Any thoughts |
