vicki we said we would support you in being a genuine 2nd div club has you said you lost your 40 pointer player and a few others and was struggling for numbers then low and behold they all turn out for you on sunday - as Group 6 clubs do most help each other out and we where willing to do so in your case if genuine but your email sent out some months ago stated taht if you played the 40 point player your club would go up to 1st grade so we assumed that is what direct you are heading in as this is what you promised the Group, we never said we would help you become a super power in 2 nd div more to assist in getting you up for 1st in years to come, you showed your hand on sunday and wish you well with your promised ventur into 1st next year We have applyeD for Onslow on a saturday nights awaiting for Oran Park to be ready and the double header idea was always a back up plan but with you opting to go up to 1st it would not eventuate either way Gazza been around footy a long time and ill take his word anyday best of luck for the rest of the year

Mittagong storm into semis http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/mittagong-storm-into-semis/2258358.aspx By Lauren Wright MITTAGONG proved they will be fierce competition in the Group 6 first grade finals with a 68-22 thumping over The Oaks at Mittagong Sportsground yesterday. The Lions opened the scoring early but it was tough going for the first 20 minutes. After two losses in the last two weeks Mittagong fired up and went into the halftime break with a 22-10 lead. But the break did not stop the Lions' momentum and they continued to pile on the points early in the second half and led 62-10.Ryan Borg and Seb Sell both crossed the line a few times before Mittagong switched off and allowed the visitors two late tries. Mittagong skipper Ryan Powell said the two late tries did not matter and was thrilled with the performance of his team. "It was good to get some points on the board and a bit of momentum," he said. "You've got to give them leeway if they switch off after scoring 60 points, we'll live with it." Powell said they did play to their full potential in the first half but was pleased they came back stronger in the second half. "In the second half passes stuck and people were pushing up in support which was most pleasing," he said. With an impressive win under their belts, Powell said there were no real standouts from yesterday's match which was a promising sign heading into semi-finals in two weeks time. "Ryan Borg was outstanding for us [and] Cam Madden was really good for us again," he said. "You'd have to give a wrap to nearly all of them. It was a team effort today which for a coach is the most pleasing thing. If you don't have one or two real standouts and you win by 60 it's brilliant." Mittagong will now face eighth placed Campbelltown Kangaroos this Sunday in their final match of the season, and Powell said they needed to continue to focus on getting the little things right. "We really need to be getting those things right which we did today, so if we can build on this and go into it next week we put ourselves in a good spot for the semi-finals," he said. While the Dragons are out of finals contention, Mittagong currently sit fifth on the ladder and after yesterday's match look set to be definite finals contenders. |

Seriously this is all I hear about people is Appin this, Appin that. You guys need to learn that Appin are still a club building and with the 40 point player you guys are saying he needs to leave ? How is the club supposed to be a first grade side if people like you are trying to get rid of this player. Wow he is ripping up, but it is also printing the Appin football team in helping make them a stronger force for the next 10 years. |

Magpies fly high with win BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.wollondillyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/magpies-fly-high-with-win/2260418.aspx ![]() On the run: A Picton player escapes the clutches of his Campbelltown City opponent on Sunday at Onslow Oval, Camden. Picture: Sean Cunningham MORE than half the team scored tries in Picton's runaway Group 6 rugby league first grade victory over Campbelltown City Kangaroos on Sunday. The Magpies swooped to run in 11 tries from nine players in their 64-36 win at Onslow Oval, Camden. Leading 40-8 at half-time Picton looked as if they would at least double their first-half tally, but they took their foot off the pedal in the final 40 minutes. Scoring a point a minute in the opening half, Picton put 28 points on the scoreboard before Kangaroos hit back. Picton coach Mat Davies thought his team had forgotten how to tackle in the second half, allowing Kangaroos to run in five tries. "We ended up playing touch footy, trying to throw the ball around and not tackling," Davies said. "We dropped away towards the end of the game, but I'm happy with the overall performance. "From City's point of view I have to give them credit, they didn't give in and came back at us. "It's not a big worry that we dropped off; it was just our attitude when we had the game won, we can't fix that sort of thing on the training ground." Davies noted that Chris Young and Will Dreves were among two of the Magpies' best players during the rout. He was pleased with the attacking options Picton created during the big win. "We had try scorers all over the paddock; it wasn't just one player who got five tries," Davies said. "We're not too concerned about fading away near the end of this game." The must-win game against Kangaroos keeps Picton in third place on the ladder with one game remaining. "We are a point ahead of Thirlmere and we have to beat the Eagles next week to stay ahead of them in third spot so we get two cracks at the finals," Davies said. "We don't want to finish fourth because then it would be an elimination game we play in the finals." Kangaroos tries went to Jeremy Mackay (2), Christian Samia, Michael Whithers, Chris Williamson, Mitch Vamvas and Hayden Bailey. Picton's tries went to Will Dreves (2), Kiel Shephard (2), Luke Heath, Ben Hierlehy, Jarrod Shepherd, Mitch Gleeson, Gary Dowse, Chris Bowers and Chris Young. In other Group 6 games, Thirlmere/Tahmoor beat Oakdale 24-20, The Oaks lost 68-22 against Mittagong, Narellan beat Moss Vale 56-24 and Campbelltown Eagles defeated Camden 52-12. |

Spuds need to come out firing http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/spuds-need-to-come-out-firing/2261150.aspx By Lauren Wright ![]() Robertson skipper Doug Tilly offloads the ball. Photo by lauren Wright AFTER they failed to fire again in the first half, Robertson Spuds went down to Campbelltown Eagles in second grade on Sunday 20-10.Coach Craig Pemberton said they turned the ball over cheaply again and failed to complete their sets which gave the Eagles a 16-4 lead at the halftime break.Arron Ditton collected most of the points for the Spuds, scoring a try in the first half and a goal in the second half. Pemberton said he was disappointed with the first half performance, but was pleased the Spuds managed to settle and play their own game after the break. Without key players Pat Pearce, Scott Shepherd and Jesse Mauger, Pemberton said they struggled without their centres but Clarke Webb and Matt Rolles again led the way for Robertson. While he said the backs were "undernourished" against the Eagles, Pemberton expected the three players back for this Sunday's local derby thriller against Bowral. "We should be back to full strength and everything's going according to plan," he said. While Pemberton said a win against Bowral was not crucial, it would be a good moral booster for his team going into the semis the week after. "We've got to jump out of the blocks," he said. The under-18s also had a good 23-12 win over the Eagles. With the bye this Sunday, will have a chance to rest before the semi-finals. Second Grade Ladder 1. Appin 33 2. Warragamba 25 3. Campbelltown Eagles 20 4. Macarthur Bulls 20 5. Robertson 18 6. Bowral 11 7. The Oaks 6 8. C'town Roos 1 |

The only online content regarding the wests comp i have come across is from the liverpool papers (champion & leader) which is mainly match reports from the titans and all saints but are few and far between. The other rural press papers do a reasonable job of covering group 6 matches but it would be ideal to see all match reports from a given rnd in the online editions not just some. The southern highland news is by far the most comprehensive of all the online editions as it also covers 3rd grade & u/18 fixtures as well as first grade matches from the local teams. The Campbelltown Eagles RLFC have formed a great relationship off field with the Picton Club, on field we cant bloody stand them the Camden Showground has had a good workout this year and is looking a bit dry, we have played home games at Picton before, our guys and supporters like the Picton ground it has a great atmosphere and it probably is one of the best grounds in the group, It should make for a great days footy.
