I tipped the Jetters to win the Grand Final, wasn't I way off, should sack the coach! Time for a clean out!
I was a little surprised by the jetters yesterday.
They had a healthy crowd roll up to Oakdale and cheered their side all arvo.
They were down 26-0, and they were still keen.
I think some of their more fancied players don't roll their sleeves up enough, but they had some guys that were really willing.
Their could be a base there............????????????????? :dunno:

Can anyone confirm the actual date of the grand final? By my calculations it must be the 18th of September, but I'm not sure. I checked the group website, but nothing. Yeah, I know, it was a long shot.

The Jetters have always had support from a fair few diehards.

2004 (a long time ago, I know) really hurt the Jets and they still haven't recovered, thought they would have by now.

They have always had some good juniors and some good players that have come from other clubs and stayed but don't seem to gel until the season is over.

Maybe a new coach is the answer but you have to have a good core group of players that want to play for the coach to be successful.

I am sure, like most clubs, a bit more sponsorship money coming in and they would be able to attract a few good players to go with their juniors that have come through and they could be back up the pointy end once more.

There is always next year......

Bundy players voice outrage

LAUREN WRIGHT

http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-union/bundy-players-voice-outrage/2269254.aspx

BUNDANOON Rugby Club's future remains under a cloud and players have not reacted well to the actions of president Markus Fenwick. The Highlanders have been involved in the Illawarra rugby union competition for the past eight years and while they have spoken about switching codes in the past, players said they came to the conclusion it was not right for them.

"We talked about it [playing league] at the start of the season but we didn't think it was for us," player Max Eccleston said.

After a reports in the News a few weeks ago, players were shocked to learn that Fenwick had approached Group 6 about playing in its competition next year.

"I was blown away - devastated. It would be such a shame to lose it [the club]," Eccleston said.

While Fenwick claimed the players had been informed about his actions, Nathan Ring said the first they had heard was the report in the paper.

"It feels like I've been kept in the dark a bit," he said.

Committee member Chris Ingmire agreed the players were confused about Fenwick's actions.

"It's been a hard year. It would be good to know exactly what's happening," he said.

Fenwick has organised a trial match with Bowral Rugby League Club this Sunday, which may not go ahead due to insurance issues, but he has also spoken to the Bowral Blacks about playing as their third grade team next year.

"Unless Illawarra (IDRU) provide a stand alone platform for us we may have to play second grade again [next year]. I think rugby league is a better option for the club," he said,

While players have agreed they will be happy just to play either code next year, they have been vocal in their preference that they would prefer to play rugby union.

"There are enough league teams in the area. We need to expand rugby in the area," Eccleston said.

Ring, who has been with the club since it began eight years ago, said a number of players had played league as juniors and joined Bundanoon to play rugby union instead.

"I'd be a little bit disappointed if the club does fold and go to league. The players just want to play rugby union," he said.
Many of the players have agreed on the need to expand rugby union in the area and believe the club should place more emphasis on getting a second team and helping the Illawarra.

"We belong in rugby and need to be trying to make it easier. As a club we need to be going forward to helping them with a second team and juniors and showing the Illawarra we're moving forward," Ring said.

Coach Kristian Fenwick said the actions of his brother, Markus, had taken away from Bundanoon's performance on the field and left players feeling confused.

"It's been a hard enough year and there's been that thought process of what are we doing here. There have been questions asked at training.

"If I were in his position I highly likely would have made different decisions," he said.

Eccleston said the uncertainty of what would happen to the club had impacted on the trust the players had in the club.

"Everyone's lost a bit of trust in the club. He's (Markus) taking the easy way out. He doesn't have the spirit and the passion for the rugby club anymore - people are talking about leaving. I'm disgusted with the way he's done everything."

While the players may not have agreed with Markus' actions, he said the Illawarra had been unable to provide Bundanoon with what they needed.

"Group 6 has a structured player grading system, the Illawarra doesn't have that," he said.

Markus said going to rugby league would also ensure regular home games for Bundanoon, which they did not have at present and would not have if they joined with Bowral.

Over the past few weeks, the Highlanders have played some good football and Ring said it showed they belonged in the Illawarra competition.

"The past couple of weeks have shown we can play rugby," he said.

Kristian said the focus should be on the players' achievements over the past month. He hoped they could resolve the matter within the next month.

"The past four games we've played really well and for me it's taken away [from] what they are doing in their sporting endeavours on the field."

Kristian and Markus agreed the IDRU had indicated it wanted Bundnoon to continue to be involved in their competition but were still in discussion with them about next season.Markus said the IDRU was due to put a number of proposals to him by late yesterday afternoon from which they could then move forward."I can present it to the players and they can vot on it. St the present point in time we're in limbo a little bit."

The Jets crash against Oakdale

BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM

Going nowhere: A Narellan player (blue) ensures Oakdale's Ron Jones is stopped in his tracks on Sunday at Sid Sharpe Memorial Oval. Picture: Sean Cunningham

NARELLAN'S season is over after they finished their Group 6 first grade rugby league season they way the started it — with a loss.
The Jets won the second half 18-12 against Oakdale, but the damage was already done in the first half as they trailed 26-0, eventually going down 38-18.

A spirited Narellan fightback in the second half, helped by much dropped ball from Oakdale, led to Ben Baker, Alex Assaf and David Macdonald getting on the scoreboard with tries.

Narellan recorded four wins from 18 games throughout the season with a late rally towards the end of the season.

But they still failed to get off bottom spot on the ladder, having the notorious tag of being this year's wooden spooners.

Oakdale bounced back from two consecutive losses to beat the Jets in the competition's final round.

Oakdale coach Brendon Reeves said his team completed only four from 15 sets during the second half.

"We dropped it, they dropped it and it turned out to be a pretty ordinary final 15 minutes," Reeves said.

Maybe thes bundy boys are a bit soft, that's what rugby does to you. :correct: . Seriously their major sponsor who is a builder is a diehard rugby fanatic, maybe the switching of codes may also lose some sponsorship as well ?

I've got to congratulate our 1st Grade coaching staff Jason Hazelton and Richard Barnes, our fullback Amanono Tovio got the opportunity 8 weeks ago to play for Wests Premier League he played 4 weeks in a row and was offered back to us to qualify for semis, he had already played half the season with us, they talked to Amanono and he was enjoying Wests, they said for him to stay there and give himself an opportunity to go higher, he was a massive lost for us but we have had young 19 year old Sean Connor play brillantly in the past few weeks at Fullback. most coach's would of been screaming this time of year losing a player like Amo.

Why I mentioned this, just reading the local newspaper Amo scored a try for Wests Premier League and was named 1 of the Best for the Magpies. Looking at the Premier League ladder, the Magpies have done Ok considering they havnt had any NRL Tigers dropping back and Balmain is just in front of them so it hasn't worked as good as it has in the past.
