I am surprised the Mazeen machine got dropped. He scores plenty of tries and hits like a battering ram. |

Group 11 come home strong in final quarter BARRY HILDEBRANDT http://www.dailyliberal.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/group-11-come-home-strong-in-final-quarter/2178145.aspx Twenty minutes of football was all that Pat Rosser’s Group 11 team needed to get through to the second round of the Country Championships with a 34-18 victory over Group 6. A 9am game start time at West Wyalong on Saturday took its toll on Group 11 early when they trailed 10-8 at half-time and 18-12 with 20 minutes left, before the passes started to stick and the tries came at regular intervals. “We brought ourselves undone early when we couldn’t control the ball and as you can imagine there was plenty of dew on the ground when we started at 9am,” coach Darren Jackson said. “There was also some frustration with some of the rulings which we talked about at half-time. “But then the longer we were out there, the better we got. “Our forwards got on top and in the latter part of the game everything clicked. “We can certainly improve on that for next Saturday’s game at Narrabri.” The Group 11 forwards were strong all game with hooker Benjamin John and his Parkes team-mate Mick Doig two of the best, while captain Pat Rosser picked his game up after an unfashionable first half. Chris Thompson’s straight running off the bench was also important and the experience of halves Joe Williams and Adam Hall and centre Jade Williams had a huge impact when Group 11 retained quality ball. Joe Williams and Hall played the full 80 minutes and were an inspiration to the side. As well, Wellington second-rower Justin Toomey-White, who was cleared to play on Friday from Canterbury Bulldogs, was obviously short of a run and will be better next time. There were however, a couple of injury concerns with fullback Richard Peckham having a bad ankle; while Doig had a similar problem but played through. John finished with a swollen knee but it is hoped he will be right for next weekend. Bearing in mind Group 11 had to play at 9am, the coaching staff and players had a few issues to deal with, starting with a wake up call at 6.30am followed by a light breakfast and all players had to strapped ready to get on the bus for the ground at 8am to warm up. “It wasn’t the most ideal situation and to make matters worse we’ve got the early game at Narrabri on Saturday. It’s something we’ve already taken up with Country officials in the hope that the time can be changed,” Group 11 secretary Bob Walsh said. |

Only 3 boys from last years group side selected. Well done to all the boys selected. A very strong side indeed. 5 ball players in Trotter, Dunley, Flanagan, Masters and Brassington could hinder things a little though. |

No Chris Young?? He was almost Group 6 Player of the Year in 2011 but can't make the team?? In 2 games he couldn't have lost all that form ![]() There was a rule years ago that if you made yourself unavailable for Group 6 reps you had to sit out competition games, but with no games on whilst rep games are on does this rule still apply?? Well done to the 3 Jets reps!!! And the others too |

Warwick Carter copped it last year even though he had legitimate reasons for not being available for rep duties. The Group didn't care and he was punished. I'm pretty surprised that Chris Young was left out. Edited by Black&White, Apr 7 2012, 10:41 PM.
