Are looking at this weeks results it seems only Oakdale are able to sneak into the five now as Camden will have to keep winning and hoping for other results to go their way, the last round of Oakdale vs Camden should be a cracker if results fall Camden's way. Mittagong are going along nicely and seem to be the team to unseat the Eagles but as anything can happen in the semis should make for a good semi finals series. |

Lions destroy Rams BY LAUREN WRIGHT SOUTHERN HIGHLAND NEWS 16 Jul, 2012 12:00 AM ![]() BY the time the final whistle blew, Mittagong had players limping off the field, but their 48-12 victory over Camden Rams was certainly a consolation. Both teams came into the match at less than full strength and it didn't get any easier for the Lions, losing Robbie Carter early in the match. Brother Warwick Carter also struggled with an ankle injury he picked up in the previous match against Picton but battled through the pain to play the full 80 minutes. In what was an outstanding performance in both attack and defence from Mittagong, Camden were held to just six points until the final minute of the match when they finally managed to cross the line again. After a touch up against Picton, Lions coach Scott Borg said yesterday was a much better performance. "It all came down to attitude. We fixed it up at training," he said. Camden continue to fight for a finals spot and while the Lions are looking to secure second spot on the ladder Borg said thinking about semi-finals got to them the week before. "I think that might have got into our heads a little bit heading into the Picton game, so Picton put us in our place." Borg highlighted the performances of some of the younger members of the team, in particular halfback Matt Thorpe and fullback Ricky Garard. "I thought everyone put in 100 per cent effort, even guys coming off the bench. We only had three players on the bench so it was a great all round effort." This weekend, Mittagong face undefeated competition leaders Campbelltown Eagles. Encouraging signs for the Lions however, are Zak Blackshaw and Ryan Borg who have resumed training and will most likely return within the next two weeks. "We're playing against a team that hasn't been beaten (this) week so we're a long way off beating them. We've got a lot of work to do this week at training and hopefully we can get them this week and have everyone back on deck." |

Slow start for Spuds in 30-0 win over Bargo Bunnies SOUTHERN HIGHLAND NEWS 16 Jul, 2012 12:00 AM ![]() IT was a slow start for Robertson Spuds but they clicked into gear to beat Bargo Bunnies 30-0 on Saturday at Bundanoon. In a tight first half, the Spuds were only able to cross the line once to lead 6-0 at the break. But while the Bunnies did their best in the second half and appeared to have scored before they were ruled to have been held up, Robertson dominated to score 24 unanswered points. The Spuds Aaron de Jager said while it was a good second half performance, they needed to put in a solid performance for the full 70 minutes. "We started out a bit slow again which we seem to do every week but we came good in the second half. If we want to go deep in the finals we've got to start well in the first half so that's something to work on," he said. With the Bunnies tiring towards the end of the match, Robertson took their chances and created a number of opportunities out wide. De Jager said it was a good team performance, with the forwards setting up the backs well. "All the forwards went forward well. Clarke Walker had another good game, Justin Day went well and Scott Shepherd went well. So all the forwards stepped up and laid the platform for the backs, |

Easy mistake to make Tommy. It's been organized since April, so it is logical to assume that someone from Picton would know. |
