I dont mean to be disrespectful to Thirlmere, but how could they get that wrong. They know it is scrutinised, look what happened to Oakdale a couple years ago. Surely there is simple explanation? Was it just one game or more? The 8 points hasn't come off the ladder yet so maybe the situation is not quite correct? |

Points have been deducted as they have actually won 10 games but 4 of those have been counted as a loss now. |

I received the email yesterday, can't say I was surprised! Running your clubs you do the best to get your points correct as close as possible, in signing players this year we targeted Juniors, Will and Jason Dreves, Mason Talolua and Grant Lahey. We had a number of players approach us and we turned them down due to the points, I think all clubs should be open and transparent when sending there team list in for the program and if they find a player wrongly pointed, you can adjust the points so you maintain to get it right. |

Can't wait for the next two weeks of Footy for the Reggies, top 3 has been sorted but the Minor Premiership is up for grabs, we play Camden at home, a win here sees us go to first place, then Narellan at home and Narellan are on fire in Reggies, looking forward to the challengers ahead, Reggies has been a great standard this year! |

Moss Vale took this approach in 2010 and targeted local players playing elsewhere or doing other sports / activities. As a result we had great depth at the club, and the imports the club had that year like Martin, faave etc lived locally anyway so it was a good strategic move by the club with their signings. It paid of for the club that year and looks like its working for easts this year. Edited by disco stu, Aug 7 2012, 01:03 AM.

Spuds step up against Eagles http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/180698/spuds-step-up-against-eagles/?cs=264 ![]() Jesse Mauger is about to go down hard in Sunday's match against the Campbelltown Eagles. ROBERTSON Spuds are looking good come semi-finals after a 36-6 win over Campbelltown Eagles on Sunday. It was a tight first half and the Spuds only led 8-6 at the break after play was stopped while an injured Eagles player was treated by paramedics. The break worked in Robertson's favour and they quickly scored two tries in the opening minutes of the second half. Zac Clewett and Matt Hammond both bagged two tried while Pat Pearse and Dale Walker also crossed the line for points. Spuds captain Doug Tilly said it was a much better performance in the second half and was pleased to come away with the win. "It was a really good second half. We don't usually play that well in the second half. Our ball control was better, we should have scored a few more tries. The same thing happened at Warragamba but the break worked for us this time," he said. While Tilly said the Spuds played well in the first half, they struggled to get the ball over the line, with passes going astray and dropped ball not helping their cause. Tilly said Clewett played well as did Pearse when he came off the bench into the second row. The Spuds face Bowral this Sunday but Tilly said after Bowral forfeited against Moss Vale on the weekend, they were uncertain if they would muster up a team this weekend. With their last match of the season against Warragamba, Tilly said they needed to have a good run into the semis, with no easy games in the finals. |

Bundy lose to Wombats http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/180700/bundy-lose-to-wombats/?cs=264 ![]() Jason Bently is unable to break through Warragamba's defence. . BUNDANOON failed to make it three wins in a row after they went down to Warragamba 36-6 on Sunday.Again it came down to Bundanoon's inability to play for the full 70 minutes and coach Brett Breeze said he was still struggling to pinpoint the problem. "Just the same old story for us, not committing ourselves for the full 70 minutes. We started the first half poorly and let in a soft try," he said. But at halftime Bundanoon were only down 14-0 and were still in with a chance. "We started the second half much the same as the first half and let in four quick tries. Our defence in the opening 20 minutes of the second half was a little disappointing. The last 15 minutes we started to dominate, we scored a try and looked quite good," Breeze said. "I don't know what the secret is to get the boys to play the full 70 minutes. There skills are there, it might just be a mental thing. They suffered some pretty heavy defeats for a few years in union but I was pleased that they never stopped trying." "The technique in defence wasn't up to scratch in the second half but on our day if everything comes together we'll give anyone in the semis a shake if we make it. It's looking promising." Kyal Martin was the only player to score points for Bundanoon, crossing the line and converting his own try in the final 10 minutes of the match. Breeze said Cheynne Denning, Dane Trompet and Paul Quigg all put in good performances despite the result. With only a couple of rounds left before semis, Breeze said they needed to step up in defence if they were to have any chance of progressing in the finals. "We're letting teams get a bit too far in front and then the shoulders drop. We're giving teams too much of a head start basically. If we want to trouble teams on the ladder above us we've just got to compete for the full 70 minutes." Bundanoon face Jamberoo this Sunday and while they are a team who have struggled this season, Breeze said they would not take the match lightly. "There's no easy passage into semis, we don't underestimate Jamberoo. I'm hoping we can put things together and a good win would probably boost the boys confidence. Bar Macarthur Bulls and Moss Vale the competition's quite even. On their day anybody can beat anybody." "We'd really like to get another win up before the end of the season." |

I was at that game Disco as a youngster. City scored an early one but that was as close as we got. Owen Saunders scored one of the Group's greatest ever grand final tries, a length of the field job. I'll scan the GF write-ups from the Campbelltown papers and send them through for the teams. |

Thanx m8, ill PM u my email. Owen got picked up by the illawarra steelers after some talent scouts attended the GF. Holds the group 6 record for most tries scored in a season with 48 , Jamie newton when playing for thirlmere came close in 2006 with 44. You might remember orana city got one back the following year beating mossy in the major semi after the dragons went thru the regular season undefeated then going on to win the 83 grand final over The Oaks. |

Yes disco- I saw two of the biggest boilovers in Group history, both involving the Dragons. I'm sure the Mossy boys will reflect on the fact that they could easily have been the first club in Group history to have won four straight from 1982-85. 1983 Mossy were undeniably bound to win the CRL Clayton Cup until the 'Roos decisively rolled them 15-2 at Loseby Park in the Major Semi Final, prompting their shock straight sets exit by The Oaks a week later. 1984, with the Campbelltown clubs gone, Mossy steamrolled what was left of the competition. 1985, after beating Picton 42-8 in the major semi final, watched Mossy start at Black Caviar odds against Picton in the GF at Kirkham Park and get done 16-8 on a pretty hot September afternoon. I still remember the first round clash at Orana Park in 1983 between City and Mossy, won 14-8 by the Dragons. The palpable rivalry between the clubs and the anticipation of the crowd pre-game was something else. |
