Yeah, credit to kangaroos, they were the better team on the day. I don't want to take anything away from them, but our effort considering the season was on the line was a real disappointment. But, to be frank, commitment throughout the entire playing group this year has been by far the worst I've ever seen in my time. So, realistically they had no business being in the semis. I could write a 5000 word essay on what I think the reasons are behind our disastrous lack of commitment, but it's far simpler to just say, there's been many lessons learned and hopefully we'll be stronger next year because of it. No, there was no Mad Monday, but being old boys day many beverages were consumed Sunday night, and Monday was a bludger of a day at work! The playing group does mad Monday the day after the GF, which is because in the golden years, not so long ago, we pretty much always had at least one team playing in the big one. Our 18s are still in it though and if they can get their full strength team out there they could be in the big one. But, unfortunately they just don't have the depth to compete with the top teams if one or two of their big guns are out. I'll be cheering loudly for them. There was a positive to come out of yesterday. Our Reggie's clawed back from 18-4 down with 20 to go to win 20-18. I'm so proud of the boys effort. Even with myself, McPherson, Davies, and president Jones pulling the boots on for one last game we had the bare 13 an no subs. It was great to get the win for captain coach Mitch Fagan. He's a lovely guy and the way he has been let down by so many players is ultra disappointing. It's been so demoralizing for him so it was great he had something to smile about. And I must say, I was very impressed with the attitude of the Kangaroos players in reggies, they were a great bunch of young blokes who also tried very hard, and the whole game was played in good spirits. Didn't see Kain there, but we did have a goo turn out and will look to build on that for next year. |

Bunnies hop to success BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM WOLLONDILLY ADVERTISER 15 Aug, 2012 12:00 AM ![]() Finals bound: Bargo Bunnies including members Kieran Morrell, Mark Richards and Brett Gottaas (at back) had a successful first year back. Picture: Jeff de Pasquale A return to the Group 6 rugby league competition after 40 years in the sporting wilderness has led to a successful debut season for the Bargo Bunnies. The club was founded in 1928 and disbanded in 1972 but its decision to reform gained it entry to the Group 6 Second Division competition. In the final regular round game of the season — before the Bunnies make an appearance in the play-offs — they will host Campbelltown Eagles at Bargo Sportsground. It is the Bunnies' first home game, as they had been trying to secure a local venue without success. Bunnies coach Todd Borthwick is on track of reaching his pre-season goal of the team winning as many games as it loses. The Bunnies have won eight games, lost eight and drawn one. The Bunnies will take on Campbelltown Eagles at 2.30pm on Sunday |

Roosters lose four victories 15 Aug, 2012 12:00 AM WOLLONDILLY ADVERTISER THIRLMERE/TAHMOOR'S bid to reach the Group 6 first grade rugby league play-offs has been hampered when the club was recently stripped of four victories when it was found to have breached the player points tally. The player points tally is the equivalent of the NRL's salary cap. An investigation revealed the club had exceeded its quota of 350 player points for first grade and reserves combined. In the Group 6 competition, the points system deems an overseas, NRL and NSWRL representative is worth 40 points; Jim Beam or Bundaberg Red Cup players and players signed from within Group 6 is worth 25 points; a representative player at region, division or group level is worth 20 points; a player from outside Group 6 is worth 10 points and a locally developed player and local players returning to their junior club are worth two points. Following the competition points deduction, the Roosters, who were sitting comfortably in second position, have been relegated down the ladder to be in a fight with Picton and Oakdale for a place in the finals series. |

Any news on the finals format for Firsts & Reserve grade? According to the website there is only a 3 week format under the fixtures section? Too me that is only a top 4 scenario - Two semi's on the 26/8, a prelim semi on the 2/9 and GF on the 9/9? |

Lions thrash Tigers SOUTHERN HIGHLAND NEWS By Lauren Wright Aug. 15, 2012, midnight ![]() Picture: Robert Carter breaks through The Oaks defence. Photo by Roy Truscott With a number of players out, it was a tough day for The Oaks at Mittagong Sportsground. While Mittagong coach Scott Borg said they happy with the win, they were hoping for a tougher match two weeks out from the semi-finals. “We wanted to make sure we were enjoying our footy again and The Oaks tried their guts out all day,” he said. All but two players scored on Sunday and with nine missed conversions it could have been much worse for The Oaks. Borg said Matt Thorpe had a good game and would be crucial to the team in their bid for a grand final berth. “Matt had a really good game. If we’re going to to go far in the finals we need him to play well. Ryan (Borg) had a good game. Everyone started to play some good footy.” They will face Campbelltown City Kangaroos this Sunday who sit bottom of the ladder, but after beating a couple of the top teams in recent weeks, Borg said they needed to make sure they turned up to play. Win over Warragamba brings Dragons closer to minor premiership Southern Highland News By Lauren Wright Aug. 15, 2012, midnight A win this weekend will ensure Moss Vale under-18s win the minor premiership after a close 18-16 victory over Warragamba on Sunday. Down 12-0 in the second half the Dragons stormed home to win the match in the final five minutes of the match. "We played our usual fumble and mumble around. Warragamba had a player sent off the in the second half and our boys lifted in the second half," Dragons manager Tony Mitchell said. "They dug deep in the second half and came up with the goods." With their captain Aiden Menzies unavailable for the match due to suspension and just two reserves on the bench, Mitchell said it was a good effort from the team. Nick Tuddenham, Kerrod Morris and Blake Parker scored the tries for the Dragons, with Mitch Fitzgerald converting the tries. The Dragons will face Warragamba again in the major semi-final and Mitchell said they needed to continue to play good footy. "There's nothing between them really. It comes down to the day and who was more disciplined and a little bit of luck." Mitchell said Morris, Dan Donnelly and Cameron Grey who moved into the five-eighth role were the standout players on Sunday. Moss Vale will face Camden at home this Sunday in their final match of the season and Mitchell said he hoped they could finish the season off well. "They gave us a bit of trouble last time. If we fall into our old ways they could certainly make us suffer for it. Hopefully they've turned a corner and everything does well." Moss Vale sit on top of the ladder on 24 points, just above Warragamba on 23 points. In third place is Thirlmere-Tahmoor on 17 points and Campbelltown Eagles round out the top four with 13 points. Mittagong went down to Thirlmere 28-14 on Sunday. The Lions have yet to win a match this season and sit in last spot on the ladder. |

Watch the game today and Jets never in the fight they lack size and go forward and will exit out of the semi final series very quicky. East looked good though credit to them and I'd be leaning toward a grand final reply Easts v Oakdale |
