You don't know how they finished 5th? They finished 5th cause they won more games than Picton, Camden, Roos and The Oaks, and won as many as Oakdale!! You Eagles are so far up urselves that no one else matters, sounds like you guys have won plenty of competitions and the rest of the clubs are just making up the numbers.....so tell me how many Gr 6 1st grade comps you guys have won?? Rugby League is a participation sport and whilst we all like to win unfortunately 1 club has to lose. Eagles are very good at the moment but that will change with time...might be in a fortnight , next year or the year after. Nothing stays the same forever. |

Lions finish season in second http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/233774/lions-finish-season-in-second/?cs=264 ![]() Justin Madden breaks through the Campbelltown defence. Photo by Lauren Wright MITTAGONG first grade finished the season on a high note with a 58-16 win over Campbelltown City Kangaroos yesterday. After a slow start the Lions picked up and took control of the game, with the Kangaroos only able to score in the dying minutes of the match. While the Kangaroos sit at the bottom of the ladder, they have shown form in recent weeks and after last week’s 94-12 thrashing of The Oaks, it was a big effort for the team to back up and put in another solid performance. The Lions finished second on the competition ladder and depending on results will either play Thirlmere-Tahmoor Roosters or Narellan Jets this Saturday at home. Coach Scott Borg said he was pleased with the performance, with the attitude in defence improving as the match went on. “I think our line speed was pretty good today. They’ve got a couple of big boys so our line speed had to get up and get them,” he said. Borg said they would have an easy week at training but focus on their structure both in attack and defence. He said the key for the Lions was their attitude. “We’re pretty much on the ball at the moment so as long as we can get our structure right and our attitude right. I think attitude’s the only thing. If I could teach attitude for two hours I’ll be loving it so we’ve got to work on our skills and make sure our structure’s good and we’ll win the game from there.” In his first match for the season, Borg said Zak Blackshaw had a good game, as did his brother Erin. “I just want to congratulate Zak Blackshaw on his return, he played really well. Everyone was a standout.” With no injury worries heading into the finals, Borg said they were in a good position. They have beaten Thirlmere and Narellan once throughout the season and also been beaten by them. “It could go either way but Saturday night down at Mittagong’s a big advantage for us, especially in the cold,” Borg said. “It’s going to be a big game next week and if we can win that it gives us a couple of bits of the cherry to make the grand final.” |

Eagles flying towards Group 6 rugby league glory http://macarthur-chronicle-campbelltown.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/eagles-flying-towards-group-6-rugby-league-glory/ ![]() Campbelltown Eagles went on a points-scoring spree against Narellan Jets at Waminda Reserve on Sunday. Picture: IAN SVEGOVIC CAMPBELLTOWN Eagles reinforced their favouritism for the Country Rugby League Group 6 first-grade championship with a dominating 68-12 win over Narellan at Waminda Reserve on Sunday. With the semifinals scheduled for this Friday at Narellan Sports Ground, Eagles supporters said the weekend win was one of the Eagles' best performances of the season. The Eagles' characteristic tough defence and quick attack have peaked at the right time, with the club keen to make amends for last season's disappointment when it lost the penultimate game to Oakdale 24-16 in a boilover result. In other final round results of the regular season, Thirlmere-Tahmoor 42 d The Oaks 24, Oakdale 24 d Camden 18 and Mittagong 58 d Campbelltown City Kangaroos 16. Campbelltown Eagles, Mittagong, Thirlmere/Tahmoor, Oakdale and Narellan rounded out the first-grade top five. The Eagles were undefeated. On Saturday at Mittagong Sports Ground, Mittagong and Thirlmere will play in the qualification final while Oakdale and Narellan will play on Sunday in the elimination final. |

Despite easts having a remarkable year I'm not totally convinced they have one hand on the premiership, we've seen in the past seasons easts choke when it matters, will it be the same this year ? Time will tell. |

I'm with you, I think that it may be Mitta's year. Nothing against the Eagles, I'd just like to see Scotty's boys take it out. |

I think Eagles would surely have taken some wisdom out of last years loss. They deserve to win, they have been the best for 2 years and think they will use what they learnt last year to get their first title

Our goal at the start of every year is to do better than the previous year and for the last 4 years we have done that and I hope we can do it again this year mitta and roosters will be tough games ... and what we have done so far this year means nothing now we are in the finals as every team will step up their gamesand we know we have to aswell ..... and I do believe we learnt from last years loss and a better for it ... |

When have Easts choked before? They were simply beaten last year by a side that was better |

I dont believe easts choked last year, if you watched last years grand final you would have to agree that both sides gave their all in a tough, high quality game. Even though easts were the most consistent team last year, the workers played up to their potential to provide a classic grand final. Easts even more dominant this year, however only takes one game or one team to put it all together on the day that could make the difference. Easts deserved favourites in the betting though! |

The Grand Final last year was one of the toughest encounters you will watch, it's sad these days that anyteam that loses a semi gets labelled as chokers, there has to be a winner or loser! Mittagong and Thirlmere both in the first round almost beat us, just as Oakdale last year, the round against Oakdale at Oakdale was another great clash, That's Group 6 Footy! Can't wait and going to be a really good 4 weeks of Footy. And what about Reserve Grade, hasn't that standard lifted! We have had some very tough games this year and I think you will also watch some quality Footy from the Reggies and 18's so get there early! |

I actually dont think Eagles were outplayed on the day. Oakdale got the win but if you watch the game, there is a charge down nearly at the end that if taken would of almost certainly given the biscuits to Eagles. I have spoken to a couple of Oakdale people who said their hearts were in their mouths at the time of that charge down. |

nonsense. Taking your opportunities is part of the game, and poor Sammy, even in his disorientated state, didn't take his. 2012 is a different season, Eagles have put a gap between them and everyone, and i don't think that Mittagong have the muscle to outlast Campbelltown. They definately have the match winners, but i think the engine room may not compare. Thirlmere are flying under the radar now, keep an eye out for them. |
