Also didn't help that only mid strength beer was on sale.

Anyway what happened to you today BD. why didn't you come down to the pub today?

Also full credit to the camden fans yesterday. We're giving it to us delux during the game but were full of praise afterwards. Did not expect that.
Camden fans had been giving it to us all game, but I agree, walking the lap of honour, they clapped and congratualted all of us, shaking hands the lot, there had been some damage caused by Camden fans and its easy to jump on and bag them when they do, but Congratulations and Well Done to the Camden fans yesterday for showing great support to your club and sportsmanship to our club!

Does any body know what the criteria is to select the Clayton Cup winner? I read that the winner should be undefeated and in the top grade of their competition, but what if 2 or 3 clubs have the same results? Do they play off against each other ? (that would be great) or how is it selected?

From what i have heard Maverick it is also based on the strength of the competition.

So if a side goes undefeated in the Illawarra or Newcastle comps they would get it over sides from Group 6/7 and so one.

(not taking anything away from the Group 6 comp. just seems that the CRL class those comps as stronger)

A Champions of Champions comp would be the way to go :correct:

Well done to all grand final winners! Was a great day out at picton.
Great work by the Eagles... they never really looked like losing (the whole year)

18's was a good contest also...

and looks like a few old heads went out winners with the bulls 2nd division also...
(are they moving up next year?)
I have to disagree it being a great day.

First Grade was a dead affair, which I guess was due to Eagles early domination. The crowd was disappointing, no noise at all and the footy told a sad tale.

Picton is a good ground to play GFs but with Campbelltown having a large proportion of teams in the GFs is not Camden a closer and better option? 2011 had more excitement, larger crowd (and more arrests!!!)

Bring back the parachutists too !!!
I wouldn't of minded going, BUT at $15 it gets a bit steep, I take my wife and my 18 year old son and it's $45 to get in the gate, take my fuel with a V6 Commodore another $15 and then to have a few beer at probably $5 a beer, its light beer for what I have seen on this forum, so double 3 beers to 6 makes another $30 and feed my son that eats shiit on a plate and there's another $15. Total $105 for me the wife and kid. Struggling times, do i have a spare $100? sorry but I will stay at home, $100 for NRL YES. Go back to $5 per game and $10 for Grand Finals and people will be able to go every week. Thats my thoughts whats yours?

Now the white wash of Thirlmere is over, I can't wait to see the Trotter Brothers wear the Blue and White next year, we have signed Shannon Gallant as well. Did anyone think Woodo's coaching helped Thirlmere yesterday? they had nothing, how did they beat Mitta? are the Eagles that good? and who got Coach of the year? surley Darren Falshaw will be up there, I think we may clean up a number of awards this Saturday, who will get the player of the year, who is in the running for it?

$15 is a bit high, but they must of made tens of thousands of dollars, it was bloody packed at stages yesterday. when I rolled up there where people every year, every game was brillant except 1st Grade, Thirlmere was blown off the paddock, bloody ordinary, no wonder no one hung around. I left at 30 Nil early in the second half, Thirlmere need a defense coach.

I would like to thank the Reserve Grade boys for their efforts yesterday, our side only having 5 members of it's 2011 Undefeated Premiership winning team, we played an awesome 1st half holding out Camden with about 4 or 5 sets of six on our line, I thought we where unlucky not to go in at half time 20 Nil up with a couple of opportunities blown. 60 minutes we defended without conceeding any points and in the last 10 minutes we switched off, done enough for the Win I suppose.

Thanks to Camden for the game, we have played each other 4 times and no game has had more then a victory by 4 points. We have seen some of the best Reserve Grade games ever with these two clubs, actually the Group 6 Reserve Grade comp has been the best that I have seen in the past 5 years.

That would be a credit to the Group 6 Management!

I did also hear that rumor about Toss coaching at Camden next year

Clayton Cup

The Clayton Cup has been awarded to the best team each year in the Country Rugby League since 1937. Reub Clayton had grown up with Chris McKivat in Orange and was a famous figure in that western town as a player and administrator before Rugby League was established. He lent his support to the new code and went on to be a Vice President of the NSWRL and a member of the Country Committee, which oversaw the running of football in the bush prior to the establishment of the CRL in 1934. Clayton, who was also a successful businessman (he was a bookmaker), donated the trophy to help foster the game in rural NSW and should never be forgotten for the part he played in establishing rugby league outside Sydney. Reub Clayton died in 1947

Tweed Heads Seagulls have won the cup three times (1963, 1983, 1989), and Forster-Tuncurry (1994, 1995, 2000) and three clubs have won it twice: Young (1953, 1955), Cobar (1971, 1972), Tumbarumba (1985, 1986).

I have looked through the other groups results and was unable to find any other group to go undefeated all year and win the comp. Gerringong were undefeated but lost the Grand Final.
So unless I have missed one :dunno: then I believe Eagles should get the cup :winner:

I look at the way the guys played this year and the efforts from Barnzy and it would be a fitting end to the season, I have always been a Campbelltown Boy (ex houso) and it would make me proud to see an award like this go to the Campbelltown area, it will be great for Rugby League in the area! And highlight the talent we have and how many East Campbelltown Juniors we have and this team makes it even more special, we will wait and see!

"If" Toss is confirmed as Camden 1st Grade coach, I wonder how many Titans will follow him over, certainly Wade will follow his Dad.
Toss has become a bit of a footy whore in the past few years being involved in, or coaching at Mounties, Valley, Marconi, Eagles, Titans and now Camden. Love him or hate him he loves the game.

Campbelltown Eagles win Group 6 first grade title

CAMPBELLTOWN Eagles had their talons out when they demolished Thirlmere-Tahmoor Roosters 46-10 in the Group 6 first grade grand final on Sunday.

The side created history when they won the first grade premiership for the first time after entering the stand-alone Group 6 competition two years ago.

Thanks to stellar performances from pivot Michael Stevens, hooker Sammy Hall, front rower Mason Talolau and fullback Will Dreeves, the Eagles were able to stamp their authority on the game and put on plenty of points. The convincing win came after a torrid two years for the club, which included the demise of the combined Group 6/Wests competition and their shock loss in last year's grand final.

Coaching co-ordinator Daniel Draper said the win was a big relief for the team.

"To put 46 points on a side like Thirlmere just proves what a quality team they are," he said.

"After going down in last year's grand final, there was plenty of fire in the belly because they didn't want to repeat what happened."

Draper heaped praise on coach Richard Barnes. "The work he has done with the team is unreal."

Young Lions left shattered
http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/342347/young-lions-left-shattered/?cs=264

Posted Image

WITH back-to-back premierships on the line, Mittagong under-18 Lions came so close and fell just two points short of their dream. They faced a strong Camden Rams team who had lost only one match all season and went down 24-22.

The Lions took the lead early in the match through hooker Brad Larter, but their momentum hit a halt when Rhyce McLaren left the field just before half-time with a knee injury.

Mittagong's injury worries worsened just minutes later when Saxon Sell had to be carried from the field with a broken ankle.

Despite scoring again first after the break, Mittagong could not maintain their dominance.

They lost a winger and five-eighth Jake Isedale in the second half and with troops down on a hot day, coach Carl Davey said they put in an excellent performance to come so close.

"I have to say we played well," he said. "When you lose two of your guns, Rhyce and Saxon, who have been our go forward men all year in the middle and keep it tight, it makes it difficult. With troops down it (the heat) does (have an effect).

"They had 19 and they could rotate.

"In the end we had only 15, so that influences the game, but they were good and you've got to be good and tough and hard to win grand finals.

"Their work rate and their work effort is huge and it means we can work our forwards so much better and I think losing them was a big influence on the performance.

"After half-time they played well, they stuck in.

"I think we just fatigued a little bit in the end, which made it difficult for us."

After sitting on the bottom of the ladder after five rounds, Davey said it was a massive achievement for the boys just to make the grand final.

'They boys will be guttered and devastated about it all but every single one of them can hold their heads up high," he said. "I'm proud of what they did and they should be proud of what they achieved.

"We competed right until the last set so it was just one of those things. They did to us what we did to them last time."

Davey also thanked the under-16s players who backed up after their grand final on Saturday.

"They would have been leg weary and fatigued and they dug deep and gave everything, so that's all you can ask as a footy coach."

Down on numbers, Davey said Brad Larter stood up and had an excellent match, as did Ricky Garard and Jye Frazer.

"All year they've worked hard; Mitch Toovey was great and Jesse Elliot, so I'm proud of their effort.

"It's a big achievement to try to go back-to-back and they gave it a good show and got so close."
