Appin will be healthy as a greater number of players will make the simple 5 minute drive down Appin road, good to hear the Appin club so accommodating, thank you for looking after our ex collies boys, we are now Appin Dogs and dont come and attack us Pigshead/Beefa/Bobby, your Junior League gave us no choice, we asked Tracey for answers for 2012 and come back with nothing, 4 attempted grades but less teams, go figure

Hey Ronny,
all welcome Ronny, the players will enjoy playing in a comp that can provide a vibrant competition
for all players. In the end , it should be all about the players.
Im sure any of them that make their way to Appin will not be disappointed mate.

The CRL Southern Division Academy will be playing a trial match against the Central Coast SG Ball squad on Sunday 11th December 2011 @ Community Oval Moss Vale.

This will be a great opportunity to see young, up and coming players in a good game of rugby league and also ease the off-season "no footy blues".

The Academy Squad will hold a training session from 10.00 to 11.30am - followed by lunch.

The trial match against the Central Coast will kick off at 3.00pm.

Any news on signings come to light recently?
I know Oakdale may have a couple to announce over the next week, including their coach (hopefully).
The season is not all that far away, pre-season training just around the corner

Former Picton 1st grade front rower Aaron Firman has signed with Camden. He had an application in to captain-coach our reserve grade, but then withdrew it saying he had signed to play with the Rams.
He's a quality player, but carrying about 20kg too much at the minute. If he trims down he could be a very good buy for them. He's only about 26 so the potential is there.
I wish him and the Rams well. Wait a minute! No I don't! What's the opposite of well??!!

Frees up some points though for a club on the rise. Michael withers getting an off season under his belt will be a great thing and the young blokes getting to actually learn his game will obviously help. Ryan Russell will be a dominant force and will battle Sam Hoare for that 9 rep jersey. Cottage to all the award winners for the eagles. Well deserved.

Yeah, it was a sly dig. I'm genuinely surprised he went and signed with them before at least talking to us. He has been a regular spectator at our games since he played for us in 07 and always talked about playing here again. Very surprised.
I don't remember him being very out of shape then. He probably played at about 105kg, but is more like 125 now. Like I said, if he trims down he'll be a good buy.
Apart from that there has been nothing of any interest confirmed at Picton yet. Another week or two.

How about you Workers? Finalised a coach yet?

Yeah the Workers have finalised their coach for 2012.
There was a decent amount of interest generated, and quite surprised by some applicants.
For the new season the defending premiers will be guided by John Stanley. I'm sure a lot of people know him.
Reserve Grade will be co-coached by Michael McFarlane, and Oaks Tigers coach Mark Georgiades
18's coach will be Peter Bucior.

Campbelltown City first Group 6 club back in work for 2012

Stinging from a disappointing Group 6 campaign in 2011, Drew Dalton has been the first coach to order his troops back into work, with pre-season training having commenced on Tuesday November 29th at Mt Annan Christian College. Training will be only one night a week, each and every Tuesday up until Christmas.

Dalton remarked that, “training will be light and fun up until Christmas. We’ll have the footy in hand and be playing plenty of small sided games.

“It is a chance for players thinking about coming across to the ‘Roos to meet and greet with the players, coaching staff and just get a feel for what a real friendly and family- orientated club we have developed at City”.

Thursday night training, up until Christmas, will consist of a few leisurely ales and meat raffles at the Campbelltown Centre Court Tavern from 6pm.

Dalton emphasized that the whips will really start cracking after Christmas when the Roos start at full speed on Thursday January 12th. The highlight of the off season will be a bus trip and trial against Group 10 club Lithgow Shamrocks, before the Group 6 first round rivalry clash against East Campbelltown Eagles on Sunday, March 25th.

The ‘Roos will be fielding 1st Grade, Reserve Grade, 2nd Division and U/18 teams in the CRL Group 6 competition in 2012. For the first time, the City club will also field a Womens’ team in the Group 6 ladies’ competition and expect to announce a captain- coach for this team very shortly.

Players interested in turning out for Campbelltown’s oldest and most successful senior Rugby League club can contact Secretary Julie Attard on 0439 628 197 for further details.
