Has anyone had a good look at the draw. Its good that it is out so early but seems to be some deficiancies in it: Each team does not play each other twice which could disadvantage some clubs Each team does not receive the same number of home games Each team does not receive the same number of byes The number of weekends off is ridiculous and doesnt allow for teams gaining any sort of momentum/rythym Based on last year each team got 9 home games. Most clubs have less this year which means less fundraising/revenue opportunities for clubs. Spare weekends wont solve this like Mittagong think as players will want to go away on weekends off |

Yeah, Dowsey probably deserved man of the match honors, which went to Poisel on the day. Sheppo and Eckler both played big parts in our comeback, massive effort for a couple of 19 year olds at the time. Can't argue with your assessment of the field. Come September every year Victoria Park is an absolute dust bowl. |

Hey Orana, I remember '97 all too well since I was wearing the number 2 for Picton that day! Tragic, just tragic! We were up 16-0 at half time, then scored again just after the break to go to 20-0! A field goal to both teams in extra time, before Peter Gentle crossed for the Rams and it was good night. There is a video of that game floating around somewhere, but I don't know if I could bring myself to watch it, even though it might be nice to see me 10 kgs lighter. Regarding the '81 GF, yes there is a video! It came out at their reunion this year. Brutal footy. It was a different era that's for sure! I will get a hold of that and give it the YouTube treatment, but it will probably take many months before I manage it. |

The group wants to hold the GF at Picton each year, but it would be great if there could be a little less traffic on the ground later in the year. Guess it's tough with the juniors etc. |

Yeah, the issue has been raised with the new administrator, and he has been more than accomodating. Stephen Hazelton has been fantastic to deal with. I gave him a few alternatives so that everyone gets 2 byes, and the same amount of home games. The draw is being revised from what i believe However i have been hearing whispers that Appin are struggling.... Any truth doggiesgirl? |

Appin will be included into 2nd div draw which has been held off and now looks like will run ten team comp similar to 1st grade appin will have to lose some players or 2nd div clubs will blow up once they are dropped back mates over heard the Grahame bros talking bout it at raby pub no numbers at appin training and they want to only be a third grade club winning multiple prems if this is true the group need to put strict policies in place on appin player recruitment and they also should be made to loose some as well IMO maybe doggies girl can fill us in |

Got to say ten team better then 11 so maybe appin dropping back works better as long as they don't mercenary thirds and it's policed by the group it won't matter they need to play somewhere some clubs just are not up to being a viable strong club and will always be third grade clubs |

first I heard of this...first grade coach jarvo assures me we have 1st & reserve grade...group6 has put conditions down though...$5000 bond letter from 3 major sponsors stateing how much. by 13 Jan.... did other clubs have to do this...my only concern about us going 1st grade is if what you say is true about playing roster I have been told otherwise. The only player that was of concern was Pita Maile whom I have been told gone to Easts or Auburn with his brothers...thanks for the information I will follow it up. |

Dragons fire up for 2012 http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/dragons-fire-up-for-2012/2409586.aspx ![]() Shane Martin will lead the backs for the Dragons in 2012. Photo by Roy Truscott MOSS VALE Dragons are looking to right the wrongs of 2011 and replicate their 2010 premiership efforts this year. Club president Greg Maloney said the club was in an extremely strong position off the field with strong sponsor support from a number of large companies coming on board. This year the Dragons have welcomed Hume Coal on board as their naming rights sponsor and have retained major sponsors Moss Vale Motor Group and the Moss Vale Hotel.Maloney said the club thanked all their other sponsors who helped get the Dragons out onto the field each and every week. Willie McDonald has signed on as first grade coach for another season. He will be supported by Peter McGuinness and Tony Mitchell who will be taking the reigns of the under-18s. The club is currently in discussions with applicants for the reserve grade coaching role.It will be looking towards Elliott Esquilant, Damian Barton, Robbie Noble, Steve Fairburn and Matt Conquest to lead the forwards for the year. While the backs look strong for the coming season with Shane Martin returning to the club and Ben Murchie returning fit from last year's terrible injury. Add Tim Small, Brad Meuleman, Bret Clarke and Josh Hall and there is speed and experience. The club will have a few youngsters coming through with Jordan Grey, Ryan Knight, Jack Webb, Kevin Hill and Nathan Sams among them and all will push for first grade spots. With talks to a couple of Goulburn players and some from the coast and South West Sydney on track, things are looking good for the Dragons for the season ahead. Peter McGuinness will have the majority of his under-16s side from last year coming into the under-18s, and several from last year's 18s still available, he will be looking to put together a very competitive side. Training for the club commences on Friday, January 13 at Community Oval and the club will welcome all past, present and new players to come along and join the Dragons for 2012. The club has trials already locked in on Sunday, March 11 against Goulburn at Workers Arena Goulburn and Kiama on Saturday, March 17 at Community Oval Moss Vale. The 2012 competition commences on the weekend of March 24-25 with the Dragons at this point taking on local rivals Mittagong Lions. Edited by disco stu, Jan 4 2012, 05:36 PM.

Good to see players are getting named for the 2012 season. A fair few should be locked into the clubs by now, Camden have done well to name thier recruits and the players they have re-signed. What about anyone else? Some of you on the forum should know? |
