Bowral Blues turn 'cheeky' http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/bowral-blues-turn-cheeky/2411861.aspx ![]() Randall Laughton will take charge of Bowral this season. Photo by Lauren Wright WITH years of experience and knowledge behind him, Randall 'Cheeky' Laughton is the perfect candidate to get Bowral Rugby League back on track this year.Bowral has struggled over the past few season, and with former coach Terry Fish unable to commit to the entire season, club president Sean Chapman got Laughton on board to help.Fish will still assist Laughton in a coaching role for the 2012 season. A former referee and coach with both Mittagong and Moss Vale, Laughton said after a year away from the game he had "a bit of an itch to go again". "I think I can help Bowral out and get them on the front foot again," he said. Chapman said he hoped under the reign of Laughton Bowral could gain more professionalism and discipline. "We need to get the club back up and running for next year. We need to focus on our discipline, that''' be his [Laughton] biggest focus," he said. "He knows we've been struggling the last few years." "A lot of players have indicated their interest to play under 'Cheeky'." "I'm really looking forward to a successful year." For Laughton, the key for Bowral will be doing the simple things right. "Getting back to basics, doing the simple things right and go forward," he said. "I'm just looking forward to getting started." Laughton boasts an impressive winning record which Bowral will be keen to keep going. "I've coached a lot of football teams over the years and haven't missed a semi-final yet," he said. Laughton said the addition of Bundanoon to the Group 6 competition would also prove interesting. "It's interesting with Bundanoon joining the comp. It gives us another incentive to do well. Another local team, another local derby." Chapman said they hoped to start training later this month. |

Read that ridiculous highfalutin diatribe. It must have been a slow news week for poor Paul. He should stick to what he knows. The whole article was contradictory of its purpose. The introduction was reflecting his feelings of bliss of not having any rugby league commentary during January. Then he goes on with a lot of ill informed dribble. I had to pinch myself several times to keep me awake to the end of his obviously biased and ignorant article. |

Yeah, gets a bit chilly down there but it's all part of playing in Group 6. Love the games in the Southern Highlands, all rugged up, great steak sandwich in hand and steaming cup of really bad coffee (or icy cold beer). Don't you just breathe a sigh of relief when you pull into a ground and see a coffee van!

When my kids were juniors we loved the trip to Robo for a game. The boys knew that after the game they got a trip to the pie shop! It was very disappointing in the seasons that they weren't playing a Robo team! Speaking of pies, the bakery at Bargo make fantastic pies, so they will be something for the "footy foodie" to look forward to. One year Robo Juniors had hot spuds in the canteen covered with melted cheese & bacon - an absolute taste sensation. The footy was good too... Maybe we could start a new thread called The Footy Foodie Guide and people could recommend canteen cuisine for the 2012 footy season! On another note: When playing at Loseby Park it was hard to know which end was best - if you won the toss and elected to play running up hill in the first half then you got to run downhill after halftime when you were tired. But if you were running downhill in the first half you really had to pile on the points before halftime otherwise you were playing against the opposition and the hill during the second half. |

Early frontrunner for best BBQ is the Heath Attard inspired Roo burger at the City canteen. Steak, sausage, bacon, egg, onions, choice of sauce, washed down by a VB- it doesn't get any better. Keeps Macarthur's heart specialists in work! |

I liked getting a steak sandwhich at camden steak tent, they also used to throw a bit of garden salad on it and had about 4 different types of sauce to choose from, tomato.bbq, sweet chilli or HP, don't know if they still do it though.
