From the Group 6 Web Site Link to Web SitePlaying Rugby League in Group 6 The 2012 season is just around the corner, and many clubs have been in training for a few weeks but there is time to join the Country Rugby League Group 6 competition. Last season saw the return to the standalone Group 6 comp after 2 years in the wilderness when a joint competition with wests was trialled. 2011 was a great year for Rubgy League in our area and 2012 is shaping up to be even better. Also old Group 6 clubs Bundanoon & Bargo have returned to the competition and will take the paddock in 2nd Division. This season will see the group run an extended competition: U/18-1's U/18-2's 2nd Division Reserve Grade First Grade
Our comp offers Rugby League for every level of player whether your just moving up from Junior League to the serious First Grader who is looking to step up to the next level. 2nd Division offers players coming back from retirement for "just one more season", the chance to kick the ball around the paddock and have a beer at the end of the day with their mates. You'll find a level of the game to suit you in Group 6. Play footy in a well organised, well disciplined, friendly environment under the CRL. Group 6 games are a place where you can take the family to spend the day watching our great footy code. So come alone - get involved - have some fun! Contact one of out clubs: Appin Dogs Bargo Bunnies Bowral Bundanoon Highlanders Camden Rams Campbelltown City Kangaroos Campbelltown Eagles Macarthur Bulls Mittagong Lions Mt Annan-Currans Hill Knights Narellan Jets Oakdale Workers Picton Magpies Robertson Spuddies The Oaks Tigers Thirlmere-Tahmoor Roosters Warragamba Wombats Moss vale not mentioned.

Wooden back in roost
Wollondilly Advertiser
BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM
08 Feb, 2012 01:00 AM

DANE Wooden has returned to the rugby league club he coached to three consecutive reserve grade premierships. He has rejoined Thirlmere/ Tahmoor, this time as the first grade coach to replace Adam Sheppard.
The only way is up for Wooden, who coached Narellan's first grade team for the past two seasons.
Last season the Jets finished bottom of the ladder, but Wooden is confident he can lead his squad of maroon-clad Roosters to success, despite the retirement of several key players.
Nathan Sutton, Matt Carlyon, Leo Dynevor and brothers Adam and John Rae and Mark and Adam Sheppard have signalled their retirement.
It's not all doom and gloom as the Roosters have been negotiating with several high profile players from rival clubs.
"We're talking to a few players and it looks as if we'll get a few good signings confirmed soon," Wooden said.
"We'll have to see who we sign but I'm sure we'll have some key players in the team to field a competitive side.
"We're not just preparing for this season. We're aiming to rebuild the team like they did in 1999, to be successful for years into the future."
Considered a homecoming for Wooden, who spent eight years at the Roosters from 2000, the return of their prodigal son has sparked interest among the players.
His appointment has influenced some to continue their playing careers for at least another season.
"Now I've came back, some of them have come out of the woodwork and some who were going to retire have decided to stay on and play," Wooden said.
"It's good to be back, it's like coming home to the nest."
Wooden realises failure is not an option, coaching a team that usually reaches finals football.
Wooden understands there are a few teams capable of lowering the Roosters' colours.
"I've got a stronger depth of squad here than at Narellan and we'll do well if the boys stick to the game plan on the day," he said.
Look out for fireworks the first time Wooden clashes with his former club, the Jets.
"There will probably be a bit more rivalry against Narellan and they'll be a bit fired up but I'll be looking forward to it," he said.

Of course Woodo has more depth as Thirlmere also have more money than the Jets.
Bit harsh having a crack a few weeks after leaving.
Will be keen to watch the first Jets / Roosters game plus see who these high profile signings are!
Good luck to the Bargo Bunnies and Bundanoon for rejoining Group 6, a heap of rivalry rounds in the highlands now.

On a side note have to say the group 6 website is looking terrific and is updated fairly regularly, really reflects the attitude & professionalism by the Group 6 management on how the comp us run & presented.

Moss vale not mentioned.
It is now. Rumor has it that Moss Vale don't have the numbers to form a team as most of the first grade squad have retired or gone to group 7, and only 6 or 7 reserves turning up for training what a disaster for group 6 and the highlands. Can anyone shed any light on this.

theres an old saying " rumours are started by haters, spread by fools and accepted by idiots". Part of what you are saying is correct , they will form a team wether they are competitive is another thing, time will tell, they are probably going to go thru a rebuild this year, still have the nucleus there of josh champion, damian barton, willie macdonald, elliot esqilant etc, plus will have a few signings from st marys & goulburn, they are opening the cheque book.

Wouldn't count mossy off they will be sweet good club Disco, I'm not a hater or a fool, the talk is that Willie is hanging to see what is going to happen and Elliot Esquilant is not playing, and they are hoping!! to sign players no signatures on the books as yet, also the person running the ship is nicknamed Schettino by some of the locals(Itallian cruise ship captain just in case you don't who he is) If your in the highlands have a beer at Mossy pub on a friday evening and listen to the guys talking you will hear it from them first hand.Next time I will avoid the word rumor as it seems to have an effect on you.I truley hope you and westie are right and they get a team not the same without Mossy in the comp.
