High hopes: The Narellan Jets' new Group 6 first grade rugby league coach Daryn Fallshaw is focused on success for the coming season. Picture: Jonathan Ng

NEW Narellan Jets Group 6 first grade rugby league coach Daryn Fallshaw hopes his quarter of a century of loyal service to the club stands him in good stead for the season.
Fallshaw has played and coached with the Jets since he was 14, He was the Jets under 18s coach last season and in first grade replaces Dane Wooden, who left to coach Thirlmere/Tahmoor.

The core squad has been retained from last season but Fallshaw might have to rely on youthful enthusiasm triumphing over experience as he guides his young team.

"We've got a good group who have came through from the under 18s and they will be tasting first grade football this year," Fallshaw said.

"If they're good enough, they're old enough.

"It's a young squad. The most senior player would be Ryan Crocker and he's only 23."

Though facing a tough challenge to attract new players, Fallshaw is chasing a couple of big-name players to bolster the squad and add much-needed experience to help guide the younger players.

"We're in negotiations with an ex-Canterbury Bulldogs player and an English Super League front-rower who plays with Huddersfield," Fallshaw said.

"I don't like our chances of getting them but we're not out of the race yet.

"We're also looking for front-rowers and second-rowers to give us that hard edge."

Aiming to put the club "back in touch with the community", Fallshaw will strive to make his team play attractive, exciting footy this season in his bid to attract the Jets' faithful barrackers.

A handful of club stalwarts could play a key role in helping him achieve his goals.

"I'll be looking to Ben Baker, Ryan Crocker, Gavin Wilson and Dave McDonald to lead by example this season," he said.

"We're not a flashy side but the boys will be playing for each other and working hard.

"At training we have a leadership group that is really picking up the young players and giving them confidence.

"We haven't heard the boys giving so much encouragement for such a long time.

"It's not going to be an easy year, so we're not kidding ourselves, but I think realistically, we could still sneak into the finals."
Didnt Ben Baker go to East Ctown?
Wonder what Ryan Tandy will go like out here? If I were a betting man, I'd say pretty good. Lol
We did sign Ben Baker but his heart was still at Narellan, Narellan had contacted him so we were happy to release him back to Narellan. :correct: and Narellan probably needed him alot more than what we did.

Dad told me tonight that Narellan signed Rocky Trimache today, you heard it first from Young Fency. And another fact from Dad, Oakdale Coach Presdee has some sort of connection with East Campbelltown, dad said something about insider trading.

Sorry, I meant Stanley, Apparently he has some ties with East Campbelltown, and a great move from Oakdale will see a number of Wests Rep players that will end up at Oakdale. Is it true TC that a number of Collegians players may end up at your club?

THE LATE MAIL:

As reported on the forum earlier Camden have secured 3 of their star juniors, however with the Wests State Cup side struggling, i'm told Camden are in danger of losing them, and Neil Begovich is also being offered lots of cash from a club mentioned earlier.
The Oaks are chasing former NRL First Grader Mark "Piggy" Riddell. I'm told from my source that they have promised him employment at Tahmoor Colliery. Shares in The Oaks bakery have hit an all time high.
Campbelltown City are looking good, and i hear that they still may have another signing to come.
Newly appointed Thirlmere coach, Dane Wooden has been busy chasing players from every other club in the group and is treading on everyone's toes.
Oakdale are fighting to avoid a Moss Vale situation from 2011, with Brendon Reeves leaving, and several players still unsigned.
The Eagles, unsatisfied with having a great side have tried to extend it, with reports of them chasing Oakdale enigma Ben Fryer, but not being able to secure him.
In other news Sonny Bill Williams knocked out another overweight punching bag.
Daine Wooden is chasing the 3 blind mice that have contacted every club in the Group to get a deal together, Ben Fryer, Nick Taylor, and Bryce Poicel. Looks like they are headed to Thirlmere and the Roosters really want to spice up the rivalry round with Picton trying to sign Chris Young. The Eagles didn't talk to Ben Fryer as they have signed Mason Talauluo from the N20's and only yesterday released Ben Baker back to Narellan. Dad hasn't heard about the oaks signing Piggy Radell but Dad said he will look into it. Another big signing for Thirlmere may be two brothers that played NRL for Parramatta, Thirlmere may be the team to watch.
Wouldn't be the heckenbergs would it?
So that would be how many points?
Fryer = 25
Poisel = 25
Taylor = 40
Yes that's them, the Heckingburg brothers, Dad told me but I forgot the name, thanks TC your a very smart man.
I only know cos they were shopping around.
Another package deal, they wanted more than $1000 a game.
I told them if they wanted that sort of coin they'd have to go down the coast. I guess I was wrong.
Heckenburg brothers will get around the 300 bucks a win and a a job I was told
Also Piggy Riddell has come to terms with the oaks I was also told.
Also told mass numbers of collies 18's looking for new clubs within group 6, any truth BD was told you have a few there.

they are looking for more the 300 a game and a job in mines...more like 1000 for one and no less then 600 for the other both will be 40point players
doesnt matter
what people have heard why / how or what they are getting or want because the deal been done and they are signed up with thirlmere
so I was told pen has been put to paper.
$$$$ Doesnt equal playing abiltity. far to much money spent on players that USED to be good. Experience is essential but there are plenty of younger guys on the up instead of throwing money at guys that are past there best and cashing in on how good they were 5-6 years ago
I couldn't agree more!

Far too much money spent on has-been blow-ins that can't play a full season.

Better off to be spending that money on developing youngsters coming thru.

Some clubs are just far too short sighted - they can only see the season ahead and damn anything else (even if they have to bankrupt a club to do it).

Smart clubs have long term strategies and plan for the future -they develop the talent they have, even if it takes a couple of years, so that they have a strong teams for years down the track.

Keep a close eye on Mittagong, they have some real talent in their 18's that they will nurture and develop for the future - smart management.
Couldn't agree more again!

Aren't we just lucky that our beloved Magpies are nothing like what you've described there!!

Piggy Riddell has agreed to terms with The Oaks, with the club promising him employment as mentioned before, however not at the Tahmoor Colliery.
Oakdale centre Shane Valentine leaving and heading to a neighbouring club, not The Oaks.
As reported earlier, Campbelltown City to announce a big signing.
