As a parent of one of these 18s in question my concern is its not about the clubs ,this late its about these kids playing footy. The longer this drags out the high risk of losing them to either club. If The Oaks are the club that retain the kids, Oakdale should through the correct procedures apply for an exemption to this rule, because the way this by-law is Oakdale will never have a 18s team again, and i know they have no juniors but lets try and be be fair Oakdale have sent some mighty fine footballers down the hill over the years and a lot that just want to come home and play at the Workers.
And Buster as for the boy with the deep history at Oakdale he would love to play in the Red & Black on a field that his great grandfather, grandfather and father played on but because of whats gone on i can not see that happening this year.....
its about putting these boys on the park to play...as I have said in the past when it comes to clearing players no matter what the age group is if our club denys them and they cant play for another group 6 side they will either give the sport away or go play in another competion like penrith...
This issue needs to be addressed the next at monthly meetings with a view for a new motion and if that does not work maybe juniors from oakdale that go to play for the oaks should have their parents add an add on rego papers that when they turn 16 the oaks club will release them to play for oakdale if thats still there wish.may not be a problem solver now but could be in the future..
Sounds like a good idea that this could be an agreement when signing up to The Oaks and maybe that's something that these parents could bring up with the junior committee. This would be putting plans in place for the future. But you would agree that there is a way to go about doing things properly and if we want to remain a strong competition and not fall into the problems at wests then we need to follow procedures.

The attacks on the Oakdale club are out of line - Tom is a good bloke and doing his best to field an 18s nothing else - we are in the same position with no juniors and its a massive effort given by-laws and points, lets remeber an Oakdale 18s is good for the Group and if the Oaks kids want to play there i am of the belief that the by law needs relaxing in this case, we had a similiar situation with a kid from Narellan wanting to play with us who we had to turn away and 3 from City also due to points were turned away, As it is our 18s have scrapped together a great squad with footymum and their coach pulling them together, we are being scrutinised on our points but we will be fine and make it happen - I personally hope common sense prevails and Oakdale field an 18s this year , all the hard work Tommy has put in should not go down the drain.
There are lots of good people witin group 6 and there are alot of good people at the oaks as well. There are people in clubs who have worked long and hard to develop their juniors and then have them come through to their seniors. People want to come into group 6 because it's a strong, well disciplined competition.

I remember very clearly the principal of the high school my kids went to saying that parent's always list the school's discipline and high standands as a reason why they want to send their kids there but many think execptions need to be made when it's their kid in trouble.

This is the same situation, clubs need to play by the rules. If they want a rule changed then they can go to the general committee to get them changed. There's a right way to go about things. Take your concerns or requests for exceptions to the general committee - clubs can add items to the agenda in general business. That way all clubs have the chance to discuss the issues and make a decision.

I understand your support of Oakdale because you are in the same boat - no junior club. Appin have a junior club that is growing so in a few more years this won't be an issue, hopefully.

You say the attacks on Oakdale are out of line - was TC's statement that the management committee were "Liars cheats thiefs" in line?
I support Tom and Oakdale because i believe they have done nothing out of line its that simple, Being portaryed as poachers IMO is way out of line, A Group committe member even incinuated this at the meeting when Dave was pleading his case, you where there you heard and funny enough the committe member was a former Oaks president,Lucky he was stopped before he said what he really was thinking :finger: :finger:
I dont think everyone in the room heard him as there was a lot of chit chat happening.. but we did hear Graham ask him not to comment Macbull....this problem needs to be solved off the forum and at our next meeting, Oakdale need to list it as an Agenda item...

My comment was at the end of the post.
Was I talking about what we have been labelled? How do you know? Did I direct it to a single member or group? did it say who that was? Take that to any court and you will get shot down in flames.
I'm smart enough to not slander someone. Words can be used correctly. Unlike people saying I(me alone) have stolen players, I have coerced them, I have offered them incentives, I am decimating the oaks club.
This is the last post I will answer from you.
FYI we did have correspondence with the group, the reason it wasn't an agenda item was because it was sprung on us late in the week that the group was not releasing them, even after we did what was asked of us by the group by meeting with the oaks with all the players present, and they agreed to release them.
By the way, remind me who raised the issue about the son of someone at the club? I must have missed that one

I noticed quite a bit of talk about the Mossy club and how the committee have let everyone down. Well one of my good mates is on that committee and he tells a very different story. The club was having trouble attracting new players (not through lack of trying), no denying that but they still had 7 players from the premiership side interested in playing but the majority those 7 felt that our juniors and reserve grade players from last year that would have had to step into 1st grade wouldnt have been good enough. Does wonders for those players confidence. So 5 of the 7 decided not to play at Mossy because they didnt want to tough it out and help some of the juniors through. They wanted a side laid on a platter for them. If they had all committed they may not have made the semis' who knows but at least they could have had a crack. I would think most clubs would love to have 7 premiership players in their side but lets take the easy option out and go elsewhere.
RUSTY NAILS....
Who are these 7 players you are talking about? I heard that the Club was yet to sign any players, not even any locals had put pen to paper at any stage. Pretty poor form by the Club only two weeks out from the start of the season & no players signed.
You would of thought the Club would have been talking & signing players at the end of last season.
If I remember correctly the Club struggled for numbers last year, on 3 or 4 occasions 4 to 5 of the starting 1st Grade line up played Reserve Grade so they could field a team.

Real shame about mossy come from wooden spooners to premiers in 5 years now all the hard work gone. Have heard things started going pair shaped after gf. Apparently noble hinted he might give group 7 a crack and not much was done to keep him and now mossy fallen over they are following carnt blame them sounds like poor management to me. Hope they can bounce back again. Will say this if jamberoo get the boys who have been making the trip down the moutain they will give the comp a shake.
Nothing was done to keep any players, assumptions were made that 'Locals' would stay apparently.
I agree, poor management. Players cant be blamed for leaving or 1st Grade not fielding a team.
Who are the players going down the mountain? Noble, Esky??
Anyone heard what Champion or McDonald's doing?
In regards the Moss Vale situation at the moment MV club tried hard to secure outside players to compete in 1st grade this season whether or not it was to late or not the same people that are claiming it is the commitees fault now were very happy with the commitee last year and the year before when cheques were being handed at the end of the season. I guess while all is going well everyone is happy when it gets a bit harder some dont like it. There is always two sides to a story and whilst the commitee was always commited to fielding a 1st grade side not a lot of point in doing that with a 3rd grade playing register
. The club and commitee exist to support the players that are willing to put there hand up and play, and if the playing register you have means you can only field a 3rd grade then so be it. not much point in busting your backside to pay 10 out of town players to play for Moss Vale when they dont even live in the town or put back into the club.

In years to come we may get more local juniors to come through and be a force like we were 2 years ago but until that happens we can only rebuild and give it our best shot in second division.

I guess the biggest dissapointment for me is that some and dont get me wrong not all, 1st grade players were not willing to hang around and continue to play 1st grade in a side they knew would not be as competitive as they had been in recent years because they knew they might struggle to make the semis. It becomes very obvious at these times as to who are the club people at heart and who claim to be and are not.

Scrap points for 18s and allow out of area transfers and i believe the by law for oaks and oakdale should be merged so those kids coming out of 16s at oaks can choose to play 18s at oakdale
On third grade new clubs should not be allowed to form in close proximity to established 1st grade clubs especially ones with no juniors ie bargo, bundanoon the group should be encouraging 1st and reserve 1st and for most or next you will have Oran park,Gregory hills,mt hunter, menangle,Douglas park,Wilton spring up so where does it end
Thirds needs a massive over haul IMO
I agree with you westie 18s should be able to play where they like half the time they just want to move to play with their mates, they want to play footy not get involved nor understand the politics of it all ...

As far as third grade is concerned it came up last year with Appin and the 40point player ...the group was aware of this at time of rego as it was pointed out to group secretary by club secretary and we were told its not a problem he will be worth 40 points.. When the do-do hit the fan round 8 he was suspended for 8 weeks and never returned untill the finals his 4 family members also went with him..
Graham Andrews stated in future that players will be screened and that mistake will never happen again..How many points are players worth dropping back to 3rd grade from 1st grade?.. do they have to drop back to reserve grade if they are no longer deemed 1st graders?
I disagree, the by-law is meant to protect clubs jnrs which are developed by that club and so they are not poached/cherrypicked by nearby or rival clubs in order to stack sides for premiership gain or as a means to reduce player points over time.Once they progress out of 18s they are free to go where they like , if their snr club cannot provide 18s then they can go were ever they want also. The only other exemption would be if a player wants to play in the A's (ability or to make reps)and their snr club has Bs, then both clubs can use common sense and negoiate with each other regarding that scenario.

The by-law & points system is way to "control" these issues so players on mass dont go to other clubs and leave their original club with no 18s at all.

Exactly.

If clubs don't like a rule or by-law then they can have it put on the agenda to be discussed at a general meeting, motions can be put to the committee and the democratic process takes over. The Group has a forum each year now where these issues can be thrashed out as well. Clubs need to use the process that is in place, you might not get what you want every time but it is a decision made by all of the voting members.

Robbie Noble did indicate to the club very early in the piece that he was considering going to Jamberoo because his grandfather played there and is a life mbr. The club had no issues with that and held a couple of discussion with him about the move. The club would have loved not to lose him but understands why he wants to do it. Hopefully he will be back in the red and white next year. I think as someone put it lets move on. I am sick of hearing the do-do that gets around from the ill informed.

Interesting RUSTYNAILS!! Im really curious as to why you arent commenting on Signing of players..
If all these players were keen why hadnt the club put pen to paper with these boys?? I agree with those 7/10 players & a few other locals in the mix, it would have been a capable1st Grade Team. WHY WERENT THEY SIGNED??

McDonald:Was apparently frustrated & disheartened with lack of numbers turning up, but got on with it as he was C/C
Esky:Started keen, lost some ethusiasm as no one turning up, started talking to Jamberoo
Delly: Never turned up to training, was training with Mitta. wanted to be released & play with his Junior Club
Barton: Turned up once or twice
Champ: ONE of the players that trained & were keen
Small: Turned up to one training whilst regulary training twice a week down at the Gong for Union
Martin: Only turned up & had a look at training a couple of times
So out of the players above, really their was 3 or 4.. That aint gonna feild a Netball Team let alone a Footy Team!!
Likes of ther Mueleman Brothers & Murchie, I agree could be good players If had more commitment
If some of the players above were 100% commited they would have been to training evry time & NOT training at other clubs?!

And all this talk around town that the Club were getting a car load of plyers from Sydney & down the Coast?? Where are they??

Interesting to see "poor management" being floated regulalry around in some of these comments but its these same committee people that have worked there butts off to have the club in its strongest financial position in 30 years. The club would have struggled to put 2 grade sides on the park but would have had a competitve 1st grade side (with no reserve grade side as was discussed with Group 6) with the likes of McDonald, Esky, Delly (subject to clearance discussions), Barton, Martin, Small, Champion along with other good players like Brad and Steve Meuleman, Ben Murchie etc. Not a bad side to rebuild from but thats not to be.

Alley Cat your info is on the mark. Pretty hard to sign players who are all hedging their bets and waiting to see what others are doing and wont actually put pen to paper. I know for a fact the club was actively looking for players and some were interested but why would you bring them to a training run with next to no-one from the local group there. That would not look that impressive

Yeah Im hearing you. I'd just heard along the vine that the Club was a bit slow In offering the Locals a Contract & getting them to put pen to paper??
Anyways there isnt a 1st Grade team for 2012, hopefully with a bit of organisation & being proactive with get players back for 2013. So Mossy can be in 1st Grade where they belong.

Its unfortunate about how the situation has panned out at Mossy, but there is a positive - with Mossy's 'Promotion' to DNC Cup, the Highlands now has a real local derby with the Dragons against the mighty Spuddies (first time since 2003). Should attract a massive crowd and plenty of players from both teams are already talking up what will be a huge game or two...

Hopefully Bowral can scrape together a team and with Bundy now in too it should be a great little comp - similiar to 2nd div. in 2002 which became so popular the Group was worried it was detracting from 1st grade and put an abrupt end to it after 1 season only!

Champ is staying put which is a bonus for the club. McDonald and Martin, couldnt tell you. I heard Willie was testing the waters at Jamberoo, Mittagong and maybe Gundagai but once again thats hearsay. Marto not sure he works in Canberra so he may not be doing anything.

As the small spud said bring on 2012 and the local derbies. Robbo v Mossy is always good fun for everyone. Highlander how is Bowral going I herad numbers might be a bit thin? and Bundy should be interesting especially with so many players that have played for the Dragons at some stage. I think I counted 9 that have played for the Dragons at some stage.

Anyway Dragons looking forward to it. Had good numbers at training with Damo Barton taking the reins as Captain Coach so hopefully a good year ahead

Do you know what McDonald, Champ & Martin are doing?

I think I played in that one. Dragons would have give it to the SPuds!!!

How is spud park shaping up?
