Picton went down 36-20 to Thirlmere in first grade.

We were without Young, Poisel and Valentine but there's no doubting the roosters are a very good team. Barely recognisable from last year though, I counted only 3 players from last years team out there. That points cap must be under some real pressure. Their halback Trotter is a very good player, as is his brother in the centres. Glad to say we matched it with them in the 2nd half, but we couldn't recover after letting them skip to 16-0 after 15 minutes.

Reserve grade was woeful. Thirlmere 32-0 (I think).

Under 18s, Picton 60-0 with the mercy rule being applied, I hear, didn't see that one.
Picton U/18's will be the side to watch this year!
Picton 18's played some solid footy but if there going to be a top side there going to have to cut out silly mistake
Bigger sides like Mittagong are going to punish them if they slip up
Picton still have some good players to come back - Dom Romeo (back next week), Ryan Turner (in a couple of weeks) & Luke Monds (when SG Ball is finished).

Wow, Narellan 28 flogging Camden 0
 Narellan won 35-4 !!

A great day and a great win. The Silvertails vs Struggle Town. If the Jets can keep this young team on the paddock they should shake this comp this year, and way under points too.

Good to see some good ol' home town support today too.

Next stop Mittagong
They got Camden by surprise, way too much energy and too bruising.
I didn't see Chris Browne, Alex Vincent, or Joel Wisbey. However the 3 blokes missing didn't drop all the balls and miss all the tackles.
Congrats to Narellan, big test against Mittagong this weekend

did not realise mercy rule applied in senior footy I remember appin been beaten by more then that in reserve grade our first year 2008 even though i try to forget lol ......did the (3)graham bros play?
mercy rule didn't apply here
Thirlmere started with 12 players, come back out with 11 and then succumbed to injury and down to 8 players so game was called with 15 minutes or so to go.
In saying that, few silly mistakes by picton which would cost them against a good outfit, just need to get there discipline right. These guys have only trained few times and no trial's for them so a good belt out for them and yes still missing some key rep players. Will be good to get a game under their belt that test;s them. All in all a good first out .
The graham boys were on the programme as was mitch, tommy and gav for thirlmere. Not sure who played but, didn't stay for them games.

ROBERTSON Spuds claimed the first bragging rights over local rivals Bundanoon on Sunday with a 30-18 win.Dropped ball and penalties by both teams kept the score close at halftime and the Spuds just had their noses in front 14-10.Bundanoon's Richie Martin was sin binned just before the break for a professional foul and with only 12 players on the field to start the second half, Robertson took advantage of the overlap in numbers and scored to take the lead to 18-10.With about 15 minutes left on the clock, Bundanoon brought themselves to within four points and trailed 18-14.

But Robertson refused to let the game go and scored two tries before Bundanoon hit back right on the final buzzer.
Bundanoon were also unfortunate to lose their halfback Mark Johnson to injury at halftime.Coach Brett Breeze said the news was not good at this stage.

"It doesn't look good. It'll definitely impact on us, he's our play maker and directs all the traffic on the field so to lose him this early in the season would be pretty devastating," he said.

"We're hoping it's not a permanent injury."

Despite the loss, Breeze said he was happy with the team's performance.

"I think we just lacked a bit of direction in the second half because we lost our halfback. Very pleasing otherwise and looking forward to the rest of the season," he said.

the second row worked tirelessly and in the backs Jason Bentley, he worked really well."

With only a couple of pre-season trials under their belts, Bundanoon have struggled with match fitness, but Breeze said it would take a few weeks to get that game time.

"The first couple of games fitness is always going to be an issue because you don't have match fitness. I think towards the next few rounds we'll probably get more match fitness and that'll make a big difference to us."

New Spuds coach Ben Hanson was also pleased with his side's first round performance.

"It was good. A little bit of mistakes but first game you sort of can't ask too much," he said.

"It was a good hit out, [the] forwards are probably off their game a little bit today but once they got back into the swing of things they were good."

With a new halves combination of Arron Ditton and Mitchell Wright, Hansen said they had worked well together.

"Mitch has been out of the game for a couple of years so it was good to see him back and matt Mauger played a good part in the centres."

After watching the boys in action yesterday afternoon, Hansen said they needed to improve their defence over the next few rounds.

"Defence and the kick offs, the boys are a bit shallow, not getting up off their line and our defence just needs a bit of a pick up," he said.

We have just the one Under 18's this year, we had so much trouble from our second Under 18's last year so it was easier to do a clean out :correct:

Would be nice to see a big crowd out at Oakdale.
I think we are on level ground with our preps.
It'd be good to see the eagles come back after the game for the players player presentation

Pictures from the U/18's Southern Redbacks v Western Rams Trial that was played at Picton last Saturday. The Redbacks played in the old Group 6 jerseys as they are still waiting for the delivery from the supplier.

They would have to be accepted by clubs at a meeting.
Bowral forfeited first couple of games last year as well because of numbers they will come good after easter break I am sure. Good luck Bowral I hope all works for you,

I think haveing all these new clubs have affected older clubs same players just playing elsewhere not enough players in area to go around.

If Jamberoo are looking for somewhere to play and dont mind travelling why dont the group suggest to them the clubs that need players and let them jump on board that way, at least other clubs will not be affected and the group would be helping out their own and teams would not have to forfeit each week nor drop out of comp..

Its only my opion but I feel the group should start concentrateing on helping the clubs allready in the group rather then introduceing new ones not enough players to go around and many older group 6 clubs have been affected by all of this in season 2012.
