Jamberroo thirds got belted in the strong illawarra VB cup last year so could happen!!
Will they replace Bowral?? got a call that you guys had pulled out of this weeks round 2 against us - Have you pulled for the season or just this weekend??
They would have to be accepted by clubs at a meeting.
Bowral forfeited first couple of games last year as well because of numbers they will come good after easter break I am sure. Good luck Bowral I hope all works for you,

I think haveing all these new clubs have affected older clubs same players just playing elsewhere not enough players in area to go around.

If Jamberoo are looking for somewhere to play and dont mind travelling why dont the group suggest to them the clubs that need players and let them jump on board that way, at least other clubs will not be affected and the group would be helping out their own and teams would not have to forfeit each week nor drop out of comp..

Its only my opion but I feel the group should start concentrateing on helping the clubs allready in the group rather then introduceing new ones not enough players to go around and many older group 6 clubs have been affected by all of this in season 2012.
I agree! I have no problem with clubs having third grade sides but we don't want that level of footy to make up the majority of the comp, otherwise we'll end up with the wests scenario and our 1st grade teams will eventually have to find another comp to play in. We have enough clubs for now, let's just shore up what we have and concentrate on providing strong comps at all our levels. If those players from Jamberoo are looking for a comp then I'm sure Bowral & Bundanoon could accommodate them.

MOSS VALE under-18 Dragons have kicked off their 2012 campaign with a 28-18 win over local rivals Mittagong Lions. With a number of new players and restricted pre-season practice due to rain, team manager Tony Mitchell said he was pleased with the sides performance on Sunday.

"For the first game and they haven't played together before, it was a bit sloppy but that's to be expected. We made a lot of mistakes," he said.

"We're happy to with the win."

Mitchell said Nick Tuddeman, who has not played rugby league before did a great job but it was not all good news for the Dragons.Captain Dylan Redman injured his shoulder and appears set to be out for the rest of the season.
While the Lions were on the losing end of the score line, coach Dave Elliot said it was still a good start to the season.

"It's going to be a long season. There were a lot of positives," he said.

Ash Ngaia, Cory Brownlee and Tim Townsend crossed the line for Mittagong, with Townsend kicking the goals.

Elliot said Josh Prior and Jack McCrae in the front row did well and James Coman at hooker made some good runs out of dummy half.

"For the first game I'm pretty happy with how we went," he said.

The Lions will face Warragamba this Sunday, and Elliot said he wanted his team to improve their defence moving forward in a straight line.Moss Vale will face Campbelltown Eagles and Mitchell said they hoped they could come away with another win.

REIGNING Group 6 first grade rugby league premiers Oakdale continued where they left off last season by thumping rivals The Oaks 62-24 in the season opener on Saturday night.
Playing under new floodlights at Sid Sharpe Memorial Oval, Oakdale exploded into action with only a few minutes played.

It took Tye O'Brien just three minutes to score the first try of the Group 6 first grade rugby league season.

Back to his best, a speedier Bart Masters sprung into action in the first half, setting up three tries for his teammates.

The first of his assists came when he burst through some sloppy The Oaks defence to put Kyle Weh in for a try in the 12th minute.

Only five minutes later Masters was again the playmaker, putting new signing Brad Cameron in for his first try for the club in the 17th minute.

Cameron showed a great burst of speed to race to the line.

Masters continued his masterful performance by putting stalwart David Lowe over for a try.

Despite playing no trial games because of recent rain, the Oakdale team's performance pleased their coach John Stanley.

"We knew we were travelling well," Stanley said.

"Having no trial games, this was our first game under match conditions.

"We were tested early and we leaked two tries, but after that we got ourselves into a good position.

"Playing on the right edge gave Bart more room to move."

The Oaks coach Mark Lowe attributed his team's loss to his players' numerous "continual errors".

"If we're to be competitive against Picton this week we must stop the constant errors and sort out our defence," Lowe said.

Lowe named Rory Vale, who scored two tries, Ryan Owen and Mark Riddell as best for his team.

Stanley noted the performances of Matt McCauley, Masters and new signings Stuart Flanagan and Cameron.

"Brad Cameron - he's a dangerous, quality, young player at only 19 years old," Stanley said.

"It's a good win for the club in our first game under the new lights."

In the year of their title defence, Stanley hopes his team can maintain their winning ways.

"We hope to put ourselves in a good position over the next couple of rounds," he said.

Group 6 players dynamic in derbies

Former NRL player: Oakdale's Stuart Flanagan.

THE Group 6 rugby league season started in fine style on the weekend with exciting action being displayed around the local grounds in the now traditional opening rivalry round of derby games.
Last year's premiers Oakdale hosted The Oaks in the season-opener on Saturday night at Sid Sharpe Memorial Oval.

Both teams sported former NRL players with Mark Riddell taking to the field for The Oaks and Stuart Flanagan playing for the Workers.

Both scored tries in their debut in Group 6 but it was Flanagan's team that were too good, running out 62-24 winners.

It was a great start to the season for new Roosters' coach Dane Wooden who witnessed his team beating Picton 34-22.

Another game played in Wollondilly was the clash between last year's beaten grand finalists Campbelltown Eagles and Campbelltown City Kangaroos.

Eagles were too strong, winning 52-10.

Narellan hosted Camden and in many rugby league pundits' minds recorded a surprise 35-4 victory.

The weekend's first grade games will feature Narellan hosting Mittagong on Saturday at 7pm.

Sunday's games, starting at 2.30pm, will see a rematch of last season's grand final with Oakdale at home against Campbelltown Eagles, Camden host Thirlmere/Tahmoor and Picton are at home against The Oaks.

The Campbelltown Kangaroos have the bye.

Jets romp to big score

BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM

Derby game: Ben Baker (with ball) scored the first try for Narellan on Sunday in the rivalry round game against Camden. Picture: Sean Cunningham

NARELLAN'S first grade rugby league coach Daryn Fallshaw has had a dream start to the season with a 35-4 victory over Camden.
Playing on Sunday at Narellan Sportsground, an inexperienced Jets outfit prevailed over their more fancied rivals.

Speedster Ben Baker opened the scoring with a try for the Jets. They never looked back, racing to a 20-0 lead at the break.

"We were very enthusiastic and competed well against the much more experienced Camden," Fallshaw said.

"After we scored, we then proceeded to dominate through the middle.

"Camden tried hard through the contest but at 20-0 down at half-time, only had pride to play for in the second half."

Fallshaw said Narellan's best players were Josh Graham, Dave McDonald and Cameron Graham.

A disappointed Camden coach Mark de Ubago was left scratching his head looking for answers for the poor result.

The Rams, missing several outside backs, were second best on the day.

"It's hard to say if Narellan were good or we were bad," De Ubago said.

"One thing though, we were out-enthused, we had no urgency.

"Three early errors led to three early tries and from there we were never in the game.

"We are currently struggling with injuries but the players who played there did a good job considering.

"Our attitude has to change if we are to improve; things won't just happen."

Best for Camden were Neil Begovich and Aaron Firman.

The team can draw on a strong squad of reserve grade and under-18 players and will need to perform well in their next game.

"We play Thirlmere at home this week and it will be tough so we hope for a big crowd," De Ubago said.

I dont think this is about how many forfeits ...its about helping bowral being able to field a team in season 2012 if they dont have the players they have to pull pin the group is helping them by giving them extra time as they have done for many other teams previously...Im confident Bowral will be fine...

So the big grand final rematch this week eagles v oakdale hoping for a big crowd ...I know me and all the boys boys from last year have been looking forward to it ...
Would be nice to see a big crowd out at Oakdale.
I think we are on level ground with our preps.
It'd be good to see the eagles come back after the game for the players player presentation
Will it be on sat arvo or Sunday ???
Sunday
I would've thought sat arvo/night would get a better crowd ...

I realise that, it wasnt my intent, it was moreso about timelines. I know teams are only allowed " x" amount of games they can forfeit thru out the year , I hope Bowral makes the call before the group does if they continue to struggle.

Im sure they will...I know exactley how hard it is when you dont get the numbers...hopefully our club can use this year to recover and be strong in season 2013..it is very hard when more teams and clubs enter the comp as it lessens the amount of available players....Good luck Bowral I have no doubt you are trying your hardest ...
I also believe group should look at 3rd grade after 6 or 8 weeks and if a club is dominateing move them up t o vacant spot in 1st grade.

I'm most certain bowral will merge with mittagong to form a 3rd grade side, bowral currently have 7 players with the remainder coming thru past or present players of the mittagong club! I know they had a training run on Tuesday with 15 players present and many more to join. I'm not to sure if they will just play under the name bowral or ?. It will be a tricky one between the two clubs to work out tho! But I can assure you that they will have a side!

TC Oakdale must have been pretty impressive on weekend or were the Oaks poor. Piggy must have pulled up at the canteen on the way to the sheds.

Also Narellan, they were short odds to take the wooden spoon and they put the cleaners through Camden who people were talking up to be possible contenders this year. :letmesee

Any one see these games???

I saw both those games and was blown away by both.
The continuity in Oakdales performance surprised me considering they had no trials. The Oaks were only just competitive early, and really lacked punch. Piggy was wasted at 9. but it was like they threw the towel in from the second half.
And Camden were poor, but Narellan were very up tempo. There's been a lot of do-do slung at Jye OMullane on this forum, and if he is the front rower now at narellan, I think some opinions will change. He was impressive

why can't they play in Bowral jerseys at Mitta's home games, give Mitta reggies not having a run the chance to play in that side?
Restart Bowral next year with a new committee everyone knows that's why the players aren't back, even a had decent coach this year

It's Jay O'Mullane
and yes i hope he show's up all the knockers he had throughout last year as everyone had
their two bob's worth to say about the Appin team and personally about Jay.
Jay is a great bloke and a great footy player and he will shine in 1st grade.
People forget the reason Jay was at the Appin club playing 3rd grade was that he and his Mum
were the foundation of the Dog's and hoping to build the club up.
All there hard work gone because of the big push of getting them to step up to 1st grade, could have been more time warranted and
let the club go about being in the competition. It would have been better to have teams remain in a comp than not at all.
Practibility, demographics and populas determine what is possible?.
Sometimes, people and the group just have to realise the capabilities of a club and what can be achieved.
We are seeing the clubs that are pushed, Mossy no 1st grade, Appin folded, Bowral forfeiting games?.
You would think that Group 6 would have protected the product they already had , not add more product at
the expense of other clubs.
This is not a beatup of new clubs and/or existing clubs as i know of the hard work that goes into clubs operating etc.
Let's hope we see Appin back into the picture (that's the plan for 2013) and the clubs/group support all the clubs and players in group 6, otherwise we are no better
than our West's counterparts and there b#lls*it comp they play in, if we are beating up on players/supporters/volunteers etc.
