Camden 'robbed' Late try disallowed BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.camdenadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/camden-robbed-late-try-disallowed/2510422.aspx ![]() Tough tackling: Camden's Luke Wisbey feels the full force of the Thirlmere/Tahmoor defence. Picture: Sean Cunningham CAMDEN were just centimetres away from recording their first Group 6 first grade rugby league win of the season on Sunday, but slumped to a 20-18 defeat against Thirlmere/Tahmoor. Trailing 20-18 at Kirkham Park, with seconds remaining, a Camden player believed he had grounded the ball for a match-winner, but officials deemed the ball had crossed the dead-ball line to deny the Rams a last-minute victory. Camden coach Mark De Ubago felt his team were robbed and was pondering what might have been. "I'm disappointed with the loss, especially when we thought we won it in the final minute until that try was disallowed," he said. "My player said he got it down inside the line." Roosters opened the scoring when Trent Trotter fobbed off several tackles to score but Glyn Bester responded soon after and Sam Campbell added another Camden try with seven minutes remaining in the first half. Camden weren't finished as Bester ran in his second try to give the Rams a 14-6 half-time lead. Camden pinned the Roosters back in their own half for much of the first half with a strong kicking game. "We played a lot better than last week," De Ubago said. "The boys did some good things out there but we dug ourselves into that hole in the second half." Best for Camden were Neil Begovitch, Sam Campbell and Glyn Bester. Morgan Knott put the Roosters within striking distance with a try and Trent Trotter scored his second try to give the Roosters the lead. With only eight minutes left to play, the Rams reclaimed the advantage through a Jack Ledbrook try which gave them a 18-16 lead. It was shortlived when speedster Trent Trotter dashed away deep in his own half to set up Matthew Brasington for the winning Roosters' try in the 76th minute. Group 6 games will resume on April 15 with Camden against Picton, Mittagong host Oakdale, Campbelltown Kangaroos take on Narellan and Thirlmere/Tahmoor at home against Campbelltown Eagles and The Oaks have the bye. |

Knights needed http://www.camdenadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/knights-needed/2510421.aspx MOUNT Annan Knights under-18 rugby league team is in desperate need of several players to continue their 2012 season. The team, which was minor premiers and premiers last season, has been severely depleted and could be under threat of folding if they fail to attract new signings. Club president Mick Quinn, in his first year in the role, said the race was on in an urgent bid to save the team. "Group 6 has given us an extension to get a team together by round three," Quinn said. "We need seven or eight players. "We have almost got a team but we would have no reserves at all, so it would be no use trying to field a team every week with so many players missing. "We're really desperate for players." Quinn said players would be well looked after if they chose to play for the Knights. "It's a great family atmosphere-type club," he said. Details: 0425 382 627. |

Dragons overcome pre-season drama http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/dragons-overcome-preseason-drama/2510329.aspx ![]() Jordan Grey makes a tough tackle for Moss Vale. Photo by Lauren Wright IT'S been drama, drama, drama for Moss Vale Dragons this season but they put it aside on Sunday afternoon against Robertson to finish with a convincing 36-6 win.New skipper Damien Barton said it was far from their best performance but he was pleased to come away with the win. "For our first game after all the drama from the start of the year, all the blokes were pretty keen." "It was sloppy but first game so it was always going to be, so just move on from here." Barton said their structure was disappointing at times as was their ball security, particularly towards the end of the match when the rain poured down. "We didn't really stick to our structure in that game but we scored a few lucky tries to get away with it," he said. "The boys dug in with defence. All we did all day was defence so I was pretty happy with the way we defended." Brett Cummings was the standout for Moss Vale scoring two tries on a day where weather conditions went from one extreme to the other. Barton said Josh Champion also played well and did Brad Meuleman at hooker. "It was stinking hot, the ball did get slippery at the end of the game but they had to play with a slippery ball as well so all in all [I'm] pretty happy with the performance," Barton said. "The forwards kept running all day which was pretty good. Happy with the way we played but can definitely improve." |

Like the Campbelltown teams, Jamberoo will have to play there games within the Group 6 boundaries. Also heard on good authority they have to nominate a squad for Group 6 side for the season. They wont be able to chop and change players from one group to another from week to week. No byes in comp which will be good

Roos were reggies and eagles were a mix of reggies and 3rds. Bit annoyed though, I've been cut out of that photo. |

Is that confirmed Nail? My understanding is that if both G7 and G6 have no issues with the Superoos training and playing at Kevin Walsh Oval, then all is sweet. Good trip and top little CRL ground is Jamberoo's. The lucky ones might get a Saturday game there and stay over in Kiama. |
