Travelled down to Mittagong tonight to watch the footy.... The results were;

18-2's - C'town Eagles 40 defeated Mittagong 28

Reserve Grade - Oakdale 14 defeated Mittagong 8

1st Grade - Mittagong 42 defeated Oakdale 22

The 1st Grade game was very entertaining with Mittagong Captain-Coach Scott Borg scoring 2 tries and setting up a couple also... Young Matt Thorpe showed the critics that he deserves to be in 1st Grade as many people have scrutinized him over the past year saying that he is "out of his depth" - What rubbish!

Mittagong went to sleep with about 15 mins to go, leaking 16 points....

Overall it was a great game played by 2 great sides!
They must of got it wrong on the website cause it says oakdale 14 mittagone 8

BTW Oakdale were horrible tonight. Poor defense, but some good signs.
Looking at the last 2 games, just a lot of bad attitude

Picton down 28 -14 against Camden. We were up 14-12 with 15 to go, then there was a fight, both teams had 1 sent off. From there we lost our way and stopped playing smart footy. 5 minutes later one of our boys in the bin for back chat, Camden got 3 late tries. Good night.
Reserves, Picton won the 2nd half after being convincingly outplayed by Chris Brown in the first half, who laid on 3 tries then came off at half time. Our boys need to learn to play as a team and for more than 20 minutes.
Our 18s impressed by having a good win against our first tough opposition for the year.

Jets totally outclassed Kangaroos but never really looked like a hot team that the score suggests. Was 24-12 at half time and Kangaroos obviously lost hope inthe 2nd half. Jets will be tested by Oakdale, Eagles and Thirlmere teams, and the other strong teams that have yet to hit their straps. The Melborne Cup isn't won in April as the racing pundits say so its only early days yet for the Jets.

I did hear on the grapevine that Thirlmere have 'purchased' another player but to fit them in their points they need to off load other players. They asked Group 6 for allowances to discount some of their imports from other Group 6 clubs (Narellan mainly) which got a thrift 'No Way'. Makes you wonder....

Great game today between Mac Bulls 2nd division and Warragamba with 7 of the 18's filling in with 6 of them in the starting side and all of them playing an awesome game. Down by 4 points with 5 mins to go and Mac Bulls win the scrum against Warragamba and take out the game with a try and conversion. 18-16

Brawl erupts at Dragons' den

http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/news/general/brawl-erupts-at-dragons-den/2521697.aspx
Posted Image

IN one of the most controversial matches the Highlands has ever seen, Moss Vale Dragons recorded a win over Mt Annan this afternoon (April 15) when the match was called off by referees. Tensions had flared frequently throughout the match as Moss Vale dominated Mt Annan to lead 30-6 at halftime. Midway through the second half, a brawl erupted between the two teams and looked set to continue off the field. Four players were sent off from Mt Annan with a few more walking off the field in disgust, while Jack Webb and Brad Meuleman were sent from the field from the Dragons. Moss Vale had appeared set to run away with the match before the fight broke out and Dragons’ skipper Damien Barton said it was a disappointing way to finish the match. “I think one of our players copped a bit of a knee in a tackle and it sort of erupted from there,” he said. “It wasn’t a real good way to finish a game. Bit of a hot day and tempers flared but that shouldn’t really happen in footy. “You don’t want the game to end like that. It was pretty do-do but these things happen. I can understand the refs calling it off, it was probably only going to get worse.” Meuleman and Webb will face the judiciary tonight and Barton said he hoped their suspensions weren’t too lengthy.

While the talking point of the match will continue to be it’s controversial finish, what has been overlooked is the dominant performance by the Dragons. “The first half was great, it was a heaps big improvement from last week so I was happy with that,” Barton said. “Just wish we could have finished the game. We need a bit of match fitness and that’s not going to help.” “The first 20 minutes we played really good. I don’t think we made a mistake that first 20. Second 20 we just sort of started trying our hand a little bit so that’s when a few errors started creeping in [but] to be up 30-6 at halftime we must have done something right.” Barton said Meulman had a good game, as did Steve Meuleman at halfback. “Stevie at halfback started to talk which is really good and just all the forwards kept going forward which was really good. I couldn’t fault any forward in the first half.” Barton said they stared the second half well despite a 10 minute lapsebut was pleased that the performance was an improvement from past performances. “I’m pretty sure we finished off with a win [and] as long as we keep on improving like that we’’ be right,” he said. “If we improve every week I’ll be happy.”

Charlie, Mossy would have rathered play in reggies but were told if we only had one grade side we were told we had to play 3rd grade. From the sides I have seen I dont think it will be a walk in the park as there is some ability floating around and we havent come up against Mac Bulls or Warragamba who seem to be fairly strong.

Disappointing end to a great days footy at Mossy yesterday with the Moss Vale v Mt Annan game called off 10-15 mins into second half when brawl broke out between players and some Mt Annan officials and supporters ran onto the field to join in a fight that was all but over. Disgusting behaviour and something needs to be done about this ugly incident. Refs and ground managers handled the situation fairly well but the issue of 3rd parties running on the field is disgraceful and needs to be sorted out by the Group Executive :fight:
