Just read in the SMH that Artie Beetson has passed away. Didn't play for Wests but was a great player.

The world is now a little sadder and has lost a little ray of sunshine with the passing of Artie Beetson.

A legendary footballer whose deeds are well known but an even more legendary human being who touched the hearts of many, from those aged 5 up to those aged 105.

He is revered throughout the rugby league world from QLD to England to everywhere in between - even 30 years after he last played. It didn't matter which club or state you supported, we all loved Artie.

League legend - certainly. League Immortal - no question. Can their be anything higher?

Arthur Henry Beetson
Born: Jan 22 1945 Roma QLD
Died: Dec 1 2011 Gold Coast QLD

RIP big fella.
