Oh well, the RSL boys didnt get the result that we were after against Renown going down 36-22, but the boys played well considering they had a full bench and we started the game with 3 reserves and finished with 1. The Renown coach actually even said the difference in the game was that they had a full bench, as we run out of puff late in the game. The effort the boys put in was great and the score doesn't reflect the game. We now have a nervous wait to see what the extent of the injuries we picked are, and the outcome of the judiciary hearing tonight of the send off from the game for striking, as both teams had one sent off. |

I dont usually comment about refereeing but if you watch the All Saints game you can be the judge. Berala had 2 sent off and then 10 in the bin for another (all swearing/verbal offences), and they were "not happy" to say the least. Did the ref's try to even it up at the end as they were concerned for their own safety? What I can say is the last penalty to even it up was wrong as I have the benefiet of slow motion HD video and the Berala player had lost control of the ball before the second player came into the tackle. But that's footy and we should not have allowed ourselves to be in that position at the end when we started with a 16-0 lead. http://www.youtube.com/user/AllSaintsRL?feature=mhee |

I heard unofficially that Penshurst 12 defeated St Christophers 6 (6-6 at halftime). Yes - saw my first scrum penalty of the season yesterday - Berala knock on with one minute to go - with a Saints feed the game appeared wrapped up but the three man Berala scrum collapse to the ground and the referee awards a penalty to Berala. |

Lol, yes mav, it's been a while since I've had time to view the forum. Refer to topic starter way back then, " grandfinal predictions 2012". I guess I got a few laughs from the fellas on the forum about my prediction , we're coming to the back end of the season now and the rain has not favoured any team in the comp, however personally I'm pleased with the standard of footy being played on the paddock and I think teams out our way have adapted well. All I can say really is best of luck to all teams involved in the iccc and lets get out there and support our locals.

Yes your right. I listened to the Titans game on the radio after our game and found it great listening. Sounded like the Titans were throwing everything at Hurstville at the end but just couldn't crack their line. They are still are chance to make the four if things go their way. Oh and I must give the commentators a wrap they are doing a great job.Saints are still trying to make the top two but like the Titans things have to go our way

I dont care about last weeks game, just make sure we win this week, dont let those Titanics beat us......... I cant wait, gabbing a 6 pack of Long necks and going down to Wood Park and have a good time watching our boys show them wanna bees living on the gold coast but we are living at Valley, what we can do. I can never take back the great Job Burner is doing but I see so many good players from our club and because they get turned off from the woeful running of the wests juniors, we lose these players, how do we keep these guys from leaving Burner, and you know how I'm talking about. Dont say the Rain, if another game gets called off due to rain I will bash my head against the wall, what a stupid rule. and why do we only have 2 games at Bradbury? seems a bit dumb. and does anyone know what is happening next year, our guys sees this year as a loss and already talking what's happening next year? |

I read on another forum that the rain rule is causing friction between the districts, let's hope they can work it out as I still think most people are happy with the competition apart from this rule, and maybe like you said, the home ground equality situation. We have played St Christophers 3 times this year at Revesby (1 trial) and Berala twice at Miller. Both of these sides still dont know where Hillier is.

A Grade Joint Premiers - a horrible thought - maybe ok for the under 8's but would rather play til midnight as long as you get a winner. |

But that would take up valuable drinking time after the game I will never forget (hmmm better reword that) Al Fry's 2004 Moorebank C Grade (u/21) premiership side. Yes things went our way and we won, but it was one of the best nights I ever had with football. Winning a comp is pretty special and celebrating a win is not forgotten for many years to come (well not all forgotten). Yes you would do anything to get the win but playing to midnight???

Figure of speech dear Maverick - but that's my point - Joint Premiers - what do you celebrate - you'll never know who was the best - Newtown and Wenty (i think) State Cup Grand Final went on forever but they finally got a winner. I suppose after a few drinks all will be forgotten. Easy for me I suppose as I only run the water and am not taking the hits. |

Just as a matter of interest, Tim (All Saints current prop) was ballboy for that grand final and made a fortune when they passed the hat around for him. And yes I knew what you meant.

Help me out here Maverick, what the rules is saying, that whoever finishes first/Second and wins there first semi, they get the Grand Final at home, so if our guys happened to finish 2nd and win the first semi we host the grand final, is that right? so 5 Grand finals could be played all over the city, will the wests juniors take what ever grand finals they can for there own revenue raising? will all saints play a GF at Hillier? I would rather play our GF at wood park then the Stadium, So if we do make it we could be playing at Renowns home ground. |

The way I read it (and remember I am like you and not on any committee nor have any official capacity) But in my interpretation of this rule is this: the team winning its way to the Grand Final FIRST is awarded the grand final in their district but it would be preferred (not compulsory) by the ICCC that it would be played at a neutral ground. Therefore as an example if you guys are first into the grand final then West's would decide the venue which I would "assume" them to select Campbelltown Stadium. Last years A Grade grand final between Auburn and St Christophers was played at Hammondville (Moorebanks home ground) which is dissapointing as the last Grand Final I was involved in was at Belmore, it was a great atmosphere and ground to play at. (even though it hailed calling a halt to the game for 10 mins) I know our guys (given the choice) would rather play in a Grand Final at Campbelltown Stadium, lets be honest no matter what you think of Wests there is no finer venue in the district. If I am incorrect will somebody in the know correct me please

Maybe I can get a Gig with the the local paper called "Dear Maverick" pretty hard to get people talking around here. Even the paper's seem to pretty much ignore footy in Liverpool, even the sponsored ones. |
