Congratulations to these two young Mittagong players and congratulations to the club as well. These boys have worked hard and Bob Hall at Mitta has been very involved in their development. The Group 6 U/15's & U/16's rep teams won their tiers at the Country Championships at Dubbo last weekend and they will take on the northern winners at Morrie Breen Oval in Wyong next weekend. This success, on top of the U/14's rep team's win at the Cluster Champs a couple of weeks ago, shows that the Group 6 development program is working well. Congratulations to Harvey Howard, Mark Dooner and all involved. |

Spotlight On......... Dean Britt Group 6 Juniors' Web Site ![]() Congratulations to Dean Britt, ex-Camden Rams Junior, now playing NYC for Melbourne Storm. Dean was selected in the NSW U/18's State of Origin team and, despite the loss to the Maroons, acquitted himself very well. NSW Under 18 team announcement NSWRL MEDIA 4/06/2012 9:57:06 AM The following players have been selected to represent the NSW Under 18s v QLD Under 18s at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday 13 June 2012 prior to Game Two of the Harvey Norman State of Origin series. PLAYER - CLUB Clinton Gutherson Manly Sea Eagles Alex Johnston South Sydney Rabbitohs Aaron Gray South Sydney Rabbitohs Richard Kennar Melbourne Storm Tyrone Phillips South Sydney Rabbitohs Mitchell Moses Balmain Tigers Shannon Crook Illawarra Steelers Frazer Masinamua Parramatta Eels Manaia Cherrington - Balmain Tigers Jake Trbojevic Manly Sea Eagles Kelepi Tanginoa Parramatta Eels Danny Fualalo Canterbury Bulldogs Dean Britt Melbourne Storm Bryce Cartwright Penrith Panthers Pauli Pauli Parramatta Eels Andrew Chard Illawarra Steelers Matthew Lodge Penrith Panthers COACH: Garth Brennan Penrith Panthers MANAGER: Bob Jones Sydney Roosters TRAINER: Leigh Woodbridge Canberra Raiders TRAINER: Steve Vidot Newcastle Knights PHYSIO/TRAINER: Louisa Cutler Sydney Roosters WELFARE OFFICER: Tom Simpson South Sydney Rabbitohs Congratulations to all of the boys on their selection and best of luck for the match. QLD win first U18 fixture NSWRL MEDIA 14/06/2012 10:49:13 AM A near perfect second half of football from the QLD Under 18s side helped them bridge an 18-6 deficit at half time to win their first game ever in this fixture 24-18. The maroons big men were far too strong in the wet as they outmuscled the Junior Blues in the second half to score 18 unanswered points. Brisbane Broncos back-rower Caleb Timu was the chief destroyer with two barn-storming tries where he simply carried multiple Blues defenders over the line. Timu wasnt alone though, Cowboys product Patrick Kaufusi also performed strongly as the maroons hammered the middle of the NSW defense. NSW started the better of the two sides with early tries to Jake Trbojevic who went over untouched on a crash ball close to the line in 8th minute. QLD answered straight back through Souths Logan product Luke Bateman when he sliced through some pretty flimsy defense to score just to the left of the posts to level the scores up at 6-all. It was all NSW leading into halftime as the Junior Blues ran in two unanswered tries to Mitchell Moses and South Sydney winger Tyrone Phillips. The Blues didnt trouble the scorers after Phillips try in the 35th minute as they struggled to complete sets of six and gain field position. It is always tough to win a game of football against a side that plays very near perfect in the second half, Blues Coach Garth Brennan stressed to his men when he addressed them after the match. Brennan also advised the players to take the experience back to their Clubs and be better for it. Dean Britt, Clinton Gutherson and Fraser Masinamua all performed well for then men in blue, while Timu, Kaufusi and Anthony Milford all put in stellar performances for the maroons. QUEENSLAND 24 (Caleb Timu 2, Patrick Kaufusi, Luke Bateman tries; Anthony Milford 4 goals) def NEW SOUTH WALES 18 (Tyrone Phillips, Mitchell Moses, Jake Trbojevic tries; Clinton Gutherson 3 goals) at ANZ Stadium. Half-Time: NSW 18-6 * Earlier in the day, Queensland Police defeated New South Wales Police 20-8. __________________________________________________ Dean (holding trophy) in the Group 6 U/15's Rep side (2009) - he was Man of the Match at this game ![]() U/15's Rep Team - Winners are Grinners! Warragamba juniors plan fun and funds BY SEAN CUNNINGHAM http://www.wollondillyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/warragamba-juniors-plan-fun-and-funds/2595776.aspx WARRAGAMBA Junior Rugby League Football Club's annual major fund-raiser will be the place to be for footy fans on Saturday. Warragamba Town Hall will be the venue where the guest speaker, former Souths and Manly player Mark "Spud" Carroll will entertain the crowd, along with the MC, former North Sydney Bears player Greg Florimo. The evening starts at 6.30pm and will feature a three-course buffet meal and a multitude of great sporting memorabilia up for grabs during an auction. The clubs fund-raising co-ordinator, Joanne Vella, encourages people to attend what promises to be a fun-filled an informative evening. There will be more than $10,000 worth of prizes on auction. "The money enables us to provide some free registrations and keeps the cost of registrations down," Vella said. "We also bought every player a training shirt. "Without fund-raising we can't do that. "Auction items include a scenic flight over Sydney for four passengers, Billy Slater's signed Melbourne Storm jersey, Benji Marshall's signed boots, many signed NRL jerseys and last year's NSW State of Origin jersey signed by the full team. "All funds raised on the night go directly to our little Wombats." Club president Phill Perry is pleased to have secured the former rugby league players to attend the event. Tickets, priced at $70 a person are limited. ¦ Details: 0410 439 348. |

![]() ARL Development Web Site What is the Participation Pathways Review? The Participation Pathways Review is a review of the junior game, currently focusing on the 6-12 Years age groups. Why is the Review taking place? The last time a comprehensive review of the junior game was conducted was 30 years ago, so this review is being instigated to evaluate junior modified games by taking into account modern scientific principles and issues raised by key stakeholders from the grassroots volunteer to the elite coach. The Pathways Review arose from discussions by the Rugby League Research Board and ARLD Council that centred on modern growth and development principles, as well as long-term athlete development. Concerning trends were highlighted in relation to recruitment and retention of players at certain stages of the Participation Pathway. Subsequently, the Research Board and ARL Development Council instigated a review of the junior game, focusing primarily on the recreational and broad-based playing pathways, but also obtaining information on a range of key areas including: coaching, refereeing, administration and parent/volunteer engagement. This review prompted the questions raised earlier in this section. What are the aims of the Pathways Review? Several questions have been asked about the junior game in recent times. In particular, does the junior game: Provide safe, enjoyable and community friendly participation opportunities? Encourage and foster lifelong participation? Provide the necessary skills to enable players to progress along the pathway and reach their maximum potential? In short, the game wishes to improve recruitment, retention and skill development, and increase the extent to which it is an enjoyable, safe and community friendly sport. We want to get kids involved for life. |
