RUGBY league administrator Brian Canavan has completed a review of rugby league in the Macarthur area and Southern Highlands and passed it on to the code’s governing bodies.

It is expected NSW and Country rugby leagues will consider the report and recommendations at their next board meetings.

Canavan, the ex-Roosters chairman and now rugby league consultant, was appointed as a facilitator late last year to investigate the sustainability of the code in the region.

The review emerged following the failed combined Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League and Group 6 competition.

Canavan said his terms of reference were to look at the senior competition structure.

``It took three months, I did interviews and I was back and forth,’’ he said. ``There’s certainly room for improvement.’‘

He said the competition needed to be addressed in light of demographic shifts. He declined to discuss his recommendations.

Meanwhile, Western Suburbs district senior players are preparing to make their debut in the Sydney interdistrict competition on April 15.

The 11th-hour decision to play against such teams as Canterbury, St George and Souths will give local players the chance to be challenged week in and week out.

Group 6 also have added new teams, such as the revived Bargo Bunnies and a second Macarthur Bulls’ side, to their 2012 competition. They wrapped up round two on the weekend.

Why would Mr canavan comment he completed his report yet not actually comment about the actual report or its recommendations ? Makes you wonder.

Like maybe how he could find everything that was wrong with wests and group 6 so he could formulate a plan of attack for his long time pal Nick politis(the man who gave him the ceo position at the roosters for years.)and his eastern suburbs roosters to totally obliterate Wests when the easts club at Narellan takes off.
