Well I have just got off the phone from a very emotional Heath Attard, President of the Campbelltown City Kangaroos seniors. Seems their club is being slugged with 4 lots of $750 release fees by the Wests Junior League on behalf of the Wests Tigers because these kids were a part of the Wests Tigers U17's development squad. Guess what these kids junior club was? Campbelltown City Kangaroos Juniors!!!! So because these kids are now trying to play for their junior clubs senior side, which now plays in Group 6... BAMMM! $3,000 dollars!!! The Wests Tigers development program is a joke. These kids never played SG Ball or Harrold Matts. They just attended a few training sessions and now they have a $750 release fee stuck to their heads. These kids would sign on thinking "cool I'm a Wests Tiger" but do they really understand the details of what the contract really means? I believe the payment was designed to prevent rival NRL districts from freely poaching players, but local club sides??? Please! I hope common sense prevails and the Campbelltown City Kangaroos Seniors are refunded their money and the kids are allowed to keep playing with their mates. |

If it was a complete merger then yes, but if it merged with two seperate administrators then this problem would remain. Either way a local club having to pay $3000 to have its junior kids play for it in a senior level is an absolute joke! I hope the Kangaroos appeal this and take it to the media to warn other parents about the dangers of signing contracts they do not fully understand. |

Here's a copy of the agreement the players sign. Now considering these kids are in Under 17'd development squads, their next port of call is Under 18's which is a senior level. Campbelltown City Kangaroos senior club is in Group 6, but it is still the natural progression of the kids club and they should be allowed to play for them without having to pay a $750 release fee. ![]() I am sure this problem is also going to arise with East Campbelltown as well. We need to fix the whole system out our way. Wests Tigers need to take a lead in this. They need to accept both Wests Junior League and Group 6 as their development districts. |

I would think the g6 area would be worth a lot more to the wests tigers than $3000.Cmon Wests tigers show some common sense and waive these fees for g6 players. We shold work well with g6.Remember easts are about to try and takeover g6. |

You know what makes this even more unfair is that West Tigers believe that they have some unwritten agreement with Group 6 that they don't have to pay any development fees to a Group 6 junior club if one of their players gets picked up by them. If a junior plays NRL etc, for any other club development fees are paid but Wests Tigers are exempt - what a joke! |

its called blood money how dare they treat kids in this way, it is all a con. do you know how many meat raffles & fund raising we have had too do to make sure that these 16 & 17 yr old kids can play, because if this money was not paid these children would not be allowed too play rugby league & we wonder why so many kids leave our sport. PS: I hope the new commission reads this forum so they can do something about it but i dont think they can do anything as west junior league is a private company & cant be touched as galahs states that they can appeal but they have too appeal to the same people that made this dessision in the first place I AM VERY PROUD TOO BE A MEMBER OF THIS CLUB THERE WAS NO HESITATION AT ALL IT WAS UNANIMOUS THAT WE PAY THIS MONEY SO THAT THESE KIDS COULD PLAY THE GAME THEY LOVE GO THE ROOS ROOS FOREVER |

I had heard this was all going on and that no one would provide an invoice so that the fees could be paid. I was told that between West Tigers, NSWRL & the JL there was a huge game of "ducks 'n drakes" going on about these boys. This is what is so disgusting about WT, these kids are nothing to them, not human beings, just numbers and a tool to stick to clubs that don't follow the party line. Is it all sorted now? Will these boys be able to play footy for their club this year? |

Roos forever could you write a simple list of your plight and gripe with westsjrl and I will then write it word for word to people who will make sure that the commission reads it and makes a statement on it and possiblly fixes it.Just A couple of points that really currently anger you dont hold back. And I will make sure the independent commission hears it.Promise. |

The Campbelltown Eagles also paid a development fee off $750 to a player that wanted to play with his cousins, ESA gave him a clearance, ESA said if there is a development fee that they deserve it and want it, no I had to write the cheque to the Wests Junior League, how sad that they take these kids, feel that they develop them and then take credit and money for it, I have advised juniors of our club not to sign with any Wests Tigers agreements, my next call will be to Steve Noyce and offer our Junior Club to the Roosters as a feeder club, ESA had already done this 2 years ago! |

So much of these problems occur because we don't have a true functioning district club. We have Wests Junior League, who don't seem accountable to anybody We have Wests Tigers, a private company that's only priority is producing a winning NRL team. What is best for the development of the game in Sydney's South West is a very distant priority. The area needs a true district club that encompasses both the Wests Junior League and Group 6, with representatives from both ensuring what is best for the game in the area. The district club needs to be one voice for the area pushing for better playing opportunities and also for better playing facilities from councils. |
