To All Magpie Supporters

Does anyone know anything about what is happening come June 30th?

I have heard that there is an extraordinary meeting being held for the Football club and that letters will be sent out to members soon.

I have also heard that the board of the football club want to dissolve the club completely.

We cant just sit back and wait to see what happens.

I dont want this extraordinary meeting to be just like the annual general meeting earlier this year when nothing really got resolved.

Can we rely on all members to turn up this time? And do all members really know the full extent of the plight of the club?

Can we as supporters organise a letter to all members to state the facts so that come 30th June we have a united front?

Im also sorry that I did not sit with the rest of you magpie supporters yesterday. Please forgive me, I had a friend come along who was a Balmain Tiger supporter.

What were your thoughts about our turn out as supporters yesterday. I personally thought there would be more black and white jumpers around. A little disappoiting in my opinion.

Disappointed to see only 13,000 at the game on a perfect Sunday afternoon. Two in-form teams, full of star players, and a very poor roll-up. I know the Cowboys didn’t have many supporters there, but if Campbelltown is to ever get more games there must be a bigger crowd than yesterday.

Why is 13,000 such a disappointment? Who was the bright spark who decided to put NZ at Leichhardt anyway? There is a large population of NZ'ers and Pacific Islanders around Minto, but we put NZ at Leichhardt? Further, NQ is hardly a team that will draw a crowd.

You want a fair crack for Campbelltown? Get Parramatta there on a Sunday afternoon. If the crowd is low, THEN criticism is warranted. However, while ever Campbelltown gets the dud games, there will be no progress.

I agree with you the_pollie. This is not a true indication of crowd numbers for campbelltown.

If Wests Tigers are to continue to play only 4 games at campbelltown a season, doesnt it make sense to have atlest a feeder club such as Wests Magpies playing there every second week. We could fill the void that Wests Tigers have created at campbelltown.

Wests Magpies should be the feeder club to Wests Tigers....fullstop. Balmain can go to hell if they cant get their stuff together. Let them play park football in their district comp. We wont be beaten!

13,000 IS a poor crowd. If Leichhardt can get a full house against the Sharks, who at the time weren’t considered to be contenders, then Campbelltown should have had at least 18,000 there to see a top-notch contest. Fact.

Well in comparison it was the first game of the season and traditionally round 1 get bumper crowds, also playing another Sydney team helps bump up crowd figures, tell me how many Sydney based cowboys fans there are ? I bet if there were a lot they would have been there. I bet a dragons v tigers would sell the joint out

Absolutely Stu, but there has been a lot of (understandable) complaining about Cambo only getting 4 games, so you would think there would be a helluva lot more people eager to get to the ground to see their favourite team, now in good form, go around.

Maybe if WT played the Sharks yesterday instead of the Cowboys, they may have of got your 18000 crowd figure but -

Don't forget the Leichhardt game against the Sharks earlier this year had a huge publicity push behind it about being a members only crowd, buying $65 tickets which included WT membership and so on. People rushed to buy their tickets thinking they wouldn't get any general admission tickets. Also remember that WT were installed as premiership favourites at the start of the year and since the Sharks game was the first of the year, of course people were take in with all the publicity and promotion. It turned out to be a pretty successful promotional event in the end even though the crowd fell short of a sell out - WT got the publicity they wanted. Curiously, they seemed to have not continued along those lines since that first game.

On another point, the largest home crowd so far this weekend was 15792 at Hunter Stadium for the Knights game against Gold Coast (playing a QLD based team). The next best was 13200 for the Melbourne v Brisbane game (played against a QLD based side) and the Campbelltown game came in third (playing against a QLD based team).
There were two games this weekend featuring Sydney based sides playing against each other yet drew less then sides playng against QLD based opposition (dragons v eels @ Kogarah - 12756: penrith v manly @ penrith 11844).
Now according to Big League magazine, the Knights have had the second largest home crowd average this season (behind Brisbane) so for Campbelltown to draw 13000 isn't a bad effort on the weekend compared to some of the other games. Your thoughts?

Puts it into perspective considering the team they played and their lack of supporters. Nth qld interestingly played their first day game in two years yesterday. So far the tigers have played two teams from outside of Sydney at Campbelltown, with decent crowds so its not all doom & gloom, interest will be what crowds will turn up for the penrith & parramatta clashes and the days / nights they are scheduled.

To DA1

I agree I was a little disappointed with the turn out, but Old Magpie Lad and Disco Stu all make good reasons why we got what we got. If we were playing another Sydney team I would suspect we would have drawn another 5500 easily.

Another reason why the first round match against Cronulla was a bumper was the fact there were some ex tigers playing against their old club which had been controversial during the off season, Cronulla were also unveiling their new marque signing in Todd Carney too so there was added anticipation from the Sharks fans.

Campbelltown deserves more than 4 games per season. It is a great venue when full, and I truly believe the most of Wests Tigers fans that attend are old Magpie supporters. And with that in mind, we always sounded louder for the crowds we drew at the magpies games. We are very vocal out campbelltown way!

Sunday was the first nrl Day game at campbelltown since 2010

Campbelltown seem to get 2nd tier fri nite games (gold coast or canberra) or monday nite games (m5 traffic + commuter trains packed)

Campbelltown will embrace WT but only if WT embrace Campbelltown

WT is seen a a re-badged balmain who travel to canpbelltown 4 games a year

Did anyone see last nights EMPTY SEATS. Now that was PATHETIC. (CANTERBURY V EASTS). If their numbers are up then they are using the same formula for the unemployment figures.

Ill second that Alien! Im wondering if it wouldnt be a bad idea to hand out fliers at their next game at Campbelltown outlining what they are doing to the area. Maybe it will distract them from signing those pathetic letters for the proposed Twin Towers in Rozelle, and question the value of having the Wests tigers!
