Great for Hanley and Schofield to be honored, but why once again is it doubling as the Balmains hall of fame event

Nothing stopping Western Suburbs Magpies doing their own gala dinner without Wests Tigers help. We've got two leagues clubs to chose from to hold it and we have 8? board members who can organise it. We no longer look after our junior rep sides after handing them over to the Wests Tigers, Wests Junior League organises the local comp and we look like not having a senior team next year, so...... i reckon the board should have some free time on its hands! |

What an absolute disgrace. A Wests tigers dinner to be held with balmains hall of fame night. Some of the best nights of my life have been the Western Suburbs Team of the Century, Team of the 60's, Team of the 70's, Team of the 80's and the Black Tie dinner. I got to shake hands with Keith Holman, Noel kelly, Kel O'Shea, Neville Charlton, Roy Masters, Haryy Wells, Peter Dimond, Les Boyd, Geoff Foster, Graeme O'Grady, John Dorahy, Arthur Summons, Jim Cody, Bruce Gibbs, Jim Murphy, Wayne Smith, Steve Knight, Steve Broughton, Jim Leis, Terry Lamb, Trevor Cogger, Ted Goodwin, Allan Fallah, Lee Crooks, Ian Freeman, big Bob Cooper and a host of other great Magpie men. There should be more of them. Lee Crooks was named in our team of the 80's held at Wests Ashfield. I was asked if I could put some money in to get him out here (I'm not rich), but I love the Magpies so I lobbed in a couple of hundred and whatever was left owing after other people donating Rick Wayde paid the difference. (Onya Rick, a true Magpie). I can't imagine balmain asking for money from supporters to bring out Hanley and Schofield to their hall of fame night, because, they don't have to. They're given everything on a platter (including our players). Another case of Wests tigers shafting the Wests Magpies. I can only implore Wests Ashfield to keep the Magpies alive. Without my WESTERN SUBURBS MAGPIES to support, I have nothing. I'll be at the game tomorrow. C'aarrrrrrnnnnnn WESTS!!!!!!!!!! |

Perhaps we need to kick up a stink again. WT honoured the Magpies in this year's heritage round coincidently after the noise made by the Magpie faithful earlier this year. Maybe its time to do it again so that next year WT honour the Magpies with a Hall of Fame dinner. (I do notice though the dinner is called the Tigers Hall of Fame, not Balmain however no doubt its to honour former Balmain players - again perhaps this slight change in name is due to the noise made by the Magpie faithful). Its getting to the stage where the Magpies need to make noises just to be heard by WT management. Its an absolute disgrace. Is Wests Tigers a j/v or just Balmain renamed? Seems to me its coming across more and more as the latter. There is so much that is so wrong. Its the little things now that are allowed to be gotten away with now that will lead to bigger anomalies in the future such as whether Campbelltown is now just a feeder region for WT. My question is, why should I support the Wests Tigers when they show such scant regards towards the Western Suburbs Magpies? |

Makes your stomach turn when you hear comments made like the one Andrew Johns made to Curtis Sironen after the Storm game about his father being one of the club's former heros. In other words Wests Tigers is the new Balmain and Wests Magpies are dead and buried.

Balmain are broke & the Wests Tigers use money from Wests Ashfiled & Wests Campbelltown to keep their presence thriving. Both of these clubs should be subject to scrutiny by their members for breaking from their constitution. |

Their vision is a joint venture Wests Tigers NSW Cup side, Wests Tigers to take over the running of our SG Ball and Harold Matthews squads and for Wests Juniors to keep running the local campbelltown area. Doesnt leave much for the Wests Magpies to control, does it? Thats their vision and thats whats going to happen if we dont fight NOW! |
