After reading todays article in the Telegraph about the "Last days of the mighty Magpies" I want to protest this Thursdays meeting between the Wests Magpies board, Balmain Tigers board and the Wests Tigers.

Who is going to join the "Mad Magpies"?

1/ Need to find out what time and where exactly this meeting is being held?

2/ Need to contact Josh Massoud and Terry Liberopoulos and let them know we will be protesting the meeting....hopefully get some publicity

3/ I will organise a gas burner for us to stand around outside the front gates at Concord Oval.

4/ Need to organise some Wests Magpies banners to place on fence outside gates of Concord Oval!

5/ Work out what message we want to convey to these decision makers!

Who is going to join me?

Mate I just found out then by logging on to the forum.

Wow!

I've got work commitments on Thursday.

You know the sad thing... once again as members and supporters we have not received any communication at all about what is going on even though there were promises we'd all be kept well informed. We've all been left in the dark.

Personally, I hope that there has been "behind the scenes" talks between Balmain & Wests where both layed their cards on the table on the future of the teams. And then go into the meeting with a united front and tell Wests tigers as owners how it will be. Not them tell us. If not they should get together befor this meeting (WITH OUT WESTS TIGERS) to try to come to some fair arrangement.

It's a puppet board anyway. Liubinskas there to eat sausage rolls at Tigers games.

I give Mick a lot more credit than maybe you do, He has repeatedly said that the Magpies under his control will continue.
Dont get me wrong I will be the first to BURN my Wests Tigers jumper if the Maggies are dissolved, and I must ask what do Balmain supporters think < surely the same as us. Maybe a united front might help

All things being equal, nothing has happened as yet except for a meeting of the boards being called.

This is true, but with board members from both Balmain and Wests also on the Wests tigers board, wont they be preaching to the already converted?

Not sure how many members are on the Balmain board, but that is not necessarily true for us.

WC has a 5 man board as I understand but only one seat on WT-the FC has a 7 man board but only one seat, while WA has 5(?) with three on WT.

Mick Liubinskas is on the board of Wests Ashfield, Wests Magpies Football Club and Wests Tigers Football Club? Is this fact or fiction?

David Trodden is on the board of Balmain Leagues, Balmain Tigers Football Club and Wests Tigers Football Club? Is this fact or fiction?

I have been told that Mick and David actually live next door to each other. Is this fact or fiction?

Now if both are actually on the board of Wests Tigers, would they not have already been involved with the white paper that Wests tigers will be presenting to them on thursday night?

No OneEyed, Mick is not on the board of Wests Ashfield.

Where the confusion might be is that he is a Wests Ashfield appointee to the board of the WSDRLFC.

According to the WSDRLFC constitution, Wests Ashfield can nominate to have 4 directors on the football club board and at the moment, this is what they have done. The WSDRLFC have a total of 7 directors - 4 nominated by Wests Ashfield and 3 elected by football club members.

Of the 4 Wests Ashfield appointees, 3 are also directors of Wests Ashfield Leagues Club - Mike Bailey, Russell Smith and John Donnellan.

Mick has also attended nearly all of Wests matches this season (and I'm just thinking off the top of my head here but I think he's only missed 1 game) and some of the trials whereas the other Ashfield appointees have not been to any games except the Return to Lidcombe clash against Manly way back in round 1.

As Mick is the Chairman of the WSDRLFC he would also be on the WT board (I stand to be corrected on this if not the case).

As far as the Balmain side goes, I don't know.

Thanks for clarifying Old Magpie Lad.

Do you know if there is any truth to Mick and David Trodden being neighbours? That would be funny if it were.

Wests Ashfield, Wests Campbelltown and the WSDRLFC each have 7 directors on their respective boards. As far as the makeup of who in the Wests Group sits on the WT board, I'm not entirely certain but your numbers (3 Ashfield, 1 Campbelltown and 1 Football Club) seem about right.

Also it is my understanding that the Chairmanship of the WT board alternates yearly between Western Suburbs and Balmain.

Do you know why there isnt a Wests Campbelltown board member on the WSDRLFC board? Did they ever have representation? If so, when did this stop? Would they be interested in rejoining if they had representation?

I hope that the wests group is united as they say they are so there isnt going to be any more rogue voting at wests tigers board meetings.

Very good questions. Personally I don't know but others on this forum might and if they don't, perhaps you could ask one of the current directors of the football club about this when you are next at the game.
