11 Jun 12 @ 04:18pm by Vera Bertola THE future of NRL foundation club Western Suburbs Magpies could be decided on Thursday when Wests Tigers joint venture parties meet to discuss not only the haemorrhaging NSW Cup team but the viability of the venture itself. Wests Tigers will present a white paper to the Balmain and Magpies boards outlining their vision for a State Cup feeder team. The preferred model is a single side. That is effectively in place now, as the amalgamated team places contracted players only with Balmain Ryde Eastdhwood. A new team would be renamed Wests Tigers. Of concern to the Macarthur region, however, is the NRL team’s desire to have the team split its playing schedule between Campbelltown and Leichhardt: six games at each venue. Wests Tigers runs the Magpies junior representative teams at Campbelltown and there have been rumours for several years the Wests Tigers will also base their under-20s team in the Macarthur region. http://macarthur-chronicle-campbelltown.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/western-suburbs-magpies-future-under-spotlight-at-board-meeting/#form-container |

I didnt realise Wests tigers were thinking of splitting their home games evenly between Leichhardt and Campbelltown. Thought they had good agreement with SCG trust? |

SORRY, I didnt read it correctly, I understand now that they would want to split home games for the NSW Cup side. So the macarthur area would even fewer games played at campbelltown. Gees they are leaving it open for other clubs to come in and take over the area! |

My guess for the proposal is 6 WT nsw cup games at ctown and 6 at leichhardt with 12 games played in magpies strip and 12 in balmain strip. Team to train and based at campbelltown |

I decided to travel to Camp Concord after work tonight to show my support for the club I love, the Western suburbs Magpies. Wearing my magpies jersey and beanie I held this sign at the entrance of Camp Concord as the board members drove through the gates. I know it will not make any difference to the outcome, but I did get some support from the passing West Harbour Rugby players arriving for training.

I have been googling, but without any luck. I'm not sure if the board of Wests Magpies will mind me suggesting this, but you can call them on their mobile phone numbers listed on contacts page of website. |

Shouldnt we as Wests Football Club members be given the opportunity to view the white paper proposal before a meeting is called so we can read it without being pressured or being given an opinion by the board? |

The board would need to digest it anyway, so why not hear their thoughts too? The only thing I would demand at the 30 June meeting would be that no vote be taken until all members have digested the report. |

Part of the board are on the board of the Wests Tigers so they would have already known what was being proposed. They should have given us more warning by letting us know sooner. |

It sounds like they are keeping us out in the cold until the last minute before we get to see things. Personally I think that is as low as you can get and they have the guts to call themselves board members. But, youknow what I could use some stronger words on them I wonder how some of them can sleep of a night. |

Should have known a weatherman changes his mind like the wind! And they in most cases get things wrong too! Yet still keep their jobs. Looks like he's got another cosy job with the Wests Tigers! |

You would think those on the WT board would be aware beforehand, OneEyed, but apparently they only found out at the meeting and had no information beforehand. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a stitch-up job from Humphreys and his Balmain bovver boys. However, putting that aside, I don't think it is fair for the board to immediately pass this on without figuring it out first. I mean, if we go to a meeting and have questions, who answers them? Bumphreys? Pigshead? Yeah, they reeeeeeeally have Western Suburbs as their priority! And for the record, I'm no more a fan of Mike Bailey than anyone else here. Just sayin'... |

I wouldn't put all the directors in the same box. I wouldn't write off Paul Dillon, Bob Cairns, Dave Jago and Bob Pinkerton just yet mate. And I haven't heard what way Mick Luibinskis will go yet either. |

All the Wests Directors should be in the same box. There's only one way, That's the Magpie way!!! C'aarrrnnnnnnnn WESTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. In a business relationship, if part of the business isn't putting in financially, they get cast to the wind. That's a fiscal reality. The major player then takes over to get the best return for their shareholders, i.e. balmain broke, Wests Magpies take over and look after their members. If any blokes from Wests Magpies have been promised jobs in the new "Wests Tigers" regime, please think very carefully, you may be punted very quickly after being past your usefulness to the new organisation. All in the name of business of course. It appears that balmain are struggling financially, so Wests should use that to their, and our advantage. |

Well said tecee. i can see the Balmain Leagues Club getting approved, being built and going gang busters. Soon they will have the money and really shaft us for good. The thing is, these board members wont be around in 10 years time, yet they will have had such a huge negative impact on the club! |
