BEING picked for a State of Origin team is the dream for many league players. For Macarthur Chronicle Junior Sports Star nominee Mark McCormack, 15, that has already become a reality. He’s been given the honour at just 15 years of age. The Menangle teenager was named in the NSW under-16s State of Origin team that fired up against Queensland in a curtain raiser to the main game at Etihad Stadium on May 23. McCormack, the lock, played an integral role in the Blues 30-16 victory. Carrying the same proud St Gregory’s College sporting ethic as Chris Lawrence, Ryan Hoffman, Matt Groat and James Tedesco, McCormack’s key strength is his work ethic. The former Camden Rams and current Western Suburbs Magpies Harold Matthews Shield squad player enjoyed a flood of support when he was named in the NSW team. ![]() ``Just quietly, how good is Mark McCormack,’’ one person wrote on the NSW Rugby League website. ``His defence and line running was fantastic.’’ McCormack also has come under the notice of Wests Tigers, and has been named in their Cub squad. The Junior Sports Star is sponsored by Rebel Sport. http://macarthur-chronicle-wollondilly.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/junior-sports-star-rugby-league-star-in-the-making/ |
