I think if Balmain are allowed to control their junior league, then so should Wests control theirs. It's a no brainer...if your current board does not have that mandate, then you who do, should oust them and put in place those who do. |

This thread may give you an understanding of the fractured relationship between the district club & junior league, too many egos at war here, http://s9.zetaboards.com/Wests_Magpies_Forum/topic/7321525/1/ |

The NSWRL has allowed Wests Junior League continue as an unafiliated body for over 10 years. This is one of the reasons the game is in such a mess out in South West Sydney |

Like I said before this situation is a mess as the wests jnr league are affiliated to the wests tigers bypassing the west magpies district rugby league club altogether , and both organisations ( wests tigers & jnr league) are private companies . Yet the jnr league carry the colours of the wests tigers ( just recently I might add) but have a magpie logo ?

ok, so it seems to me, that the local wests clubs allowed themsleves to be run by a private entity set up by some who took offence to either something on a forum, or comments from a WSDRLFC board member, or a mix of both. This doesn't seem to be any secret doing by Wests Tigers, although it seems they do recognize and interact with the private entity, but you can hardly blame WT, as they need to have the juniors at their disposal, and it's not their place to tell the private enity, the junior clubs who have joined it, or WSDRLFC what to do about it. Also, NSWRL cannot touch it as it's a private entity that the clubs agreed to either join or let run their district footy...if I'm incorrect, please let me know, as I'm unintentionally ignorant |

You're right. But what is the NSWRL doing allowing a private break away company that isn't affiliated to anybody... run the game in Sydney's South West? The ultimate blow up happened when the District Club then led by Warren McDonnell tried to take over running the juniors back in December 1999. Mrs Julie Luke and her board rejected it back them and we find ourselves in the same situation we are now. |

The question, here, is, do the NSWRL afford any assistance, financial or other, to the private body and it's junior clubs? If it doesn't, then it has no jurisdiction over how or who the junior clubs allow to manage it and it's competition. That would be my bush lawyer take on it...if it's the latter, then yes, it has the power to act, if it wants to get into a legal battle, but I think it would be a costly one, and very hard to win, if the majority of the local clubs are happy with the status quo. |

I was always cynical when we were told of affliations & timelines, im just writing what weve been "told" doesnt necessarily mean i believe it, i did say show some proof to end all this innuendo but none has been forthcoming. |

I wonder if that magpie charicature has been copyrighted? I think it was first used in the early eighties on some stickers i got back in Lidcombe Oval days. And the Wests Tigers should know better considering some of the board are also on the Western Suburbs District Football Club board! They have acted behind the magpies backs to secure their junior nursery. Sad thing is that Wests Tigers probably do more with Keebra Park High than they do with the entire Macarthur area. Go figure! |

If a WT nsw cup team is unavoidable then a Wests Magpies bundy cup side should be formed to take overflow of WT nsw cup players and WT NYC players and be based full time at Campbelltown |

Only as a last resort. We have given away too much for far too long. We should not accept anything less than a Magpies NSW Cup side for 2013 and beyond! |

Sorry Magpies1981, hope I didn't attack you in any way. Im just so very angry at the moment with what is being suggested for the future of this great club. For me, having a bundy cup side would be just another nail in the coffin to the magpies. Give another few years and well be relegated to being a park football team within the WJL competition. And how embarrassing would that be? |

Yes bundy cup is not the top level outside NRL but its where the Newtown Jets survived for years.. And its status will change when the ARLC re-introduce reserve grade. Wests, Norths, Newtown etc can play in a revamped bundy cup and the magpies can be COMPETITIVE on the field. |

You hit the nail on the head Magpies1981. That is why we must ensure we continue to field a senior side, if not NSW Cup, then Bundy |

4 fringe players played for BNRU yesterday. It's fair to say that two of the 4 are not up to it on yesterday's performance. Young guy in at right centre held his own as did the younger brother of Frank Pritchard, but the big prop, who I've been told played rugby originally was found wanting in both attack/defence...the other was a backrower who found the pace a bit too much at times |
