Do you know the names of the 4 fringe players? I'm not aware of a brother of Frank Pritchard playing for Wests so far this year, unless there has been a huge influx of players to Wests since their last game against Illawarra on saturday 23rd June. Their five-eighth, Trent Touma played two games for Wests this year (rounds 3 & 4 in March scoring 1 try and kicking 4 goals). He then asked for a release which was granted so he could play for Burwood/North Ryde and has been there since mid May. |

What are you implying with your post Slick? If Wests did not supply the players, would Burwood/North Ryde have had enough players to field a side? Damned if we do Damned if we dont! |

What are you on about? I just gave a report on what I thought of the players who played. I can tell you now, the loss against workers, was not down to just those 2 who seemed not up to it as there were quite a few poor BNRU player peformances... nobody is damning anyone... Not too sure, but I don't think it's a case of not enough players to field a side, rather that both clubs were looking for these players to experience Bundy and also add some punch to BNRU Edited by slick, Jul 2 2012, 05:19 PM.

Ok Slick. I wasnt sure from your post whether you were being critical or ungrateful of the players that Wests had supplied. Thanks for reporting back on your thoughts of the players. Im sorry that I took it the wrong way. |

Sorry, don't have names of the other players. It is definitely Tom Pritchard, younger brother of Frank. Didn't know their 5/8 was a former Wests player. |

No worries thanks anyway. Tom Pritchard hasn't played with Wests at all this year - he certainly hasn't been with the club from the start of the year and this is the first time I've heard of him at Wests. That said, I understand there has been a big influx of players starting with their round 17 clash on June 23rd against Illawarra. |

Where has the influx of players come from? Within the macarthur district? |

Look's like slick is on the money. The Burwood/North Ryde Bundaberg Cup side this week has Greg Davis listed in the centres and Daniel La Manna on the interchange. Whilst I'm still having doubts about the benefits to Wests, the two above blokes are young and raw and perhaps a stint in Bundaberg Cup isn't a bad thing for them. Both have never played NSW Cup or anywhere near Bundaberg Cup level either before this year (Greg came from the bush, Coffs Harbour and is the son of Brett Davis, a Wests first grader in 1986/87, while Daniel played SG Ball last year at St George and was brought to Wests by Trevor Schodel). Greg has got some pace about him and has played for Wests on the wing so far this season (3 tries in 7 games) while Daniel (11 games, no tries) is a honest hardworking back rower who's probably a little on the light side for size as a back rower at NSW Cup level but has plenty of ticker and is always in there having a go either in defence or taking the ball up. At the end of the day, the fringe Wests players need to play somewhere, whether its with another struggling club at a lower level then NSW Cup is probably what is debatable (B/NR lost last week 56-34 to Blacktown Workers who themselves were smacked 84-0 the week before by Wenty which I witnessed and that same round, B/NR lost to Cabramatta 50-4). One thing in B/NR's favour is backrower and captain, Andrew Emelio who joined B/NR mid season. He's had NRL experience (Cronulla, Canterbury, Penrith and NSW Cup with Windsor) so that's a huge shot in the arm for them. Maybe having him at Wests would be more beneficial (????). |

BNRU were only down 16-0 at HT, was only 10-0 with 5 to go, against Cabra and held The Entrance to 10-10 in the 2nd half. They also only lost 38-30 to Mounties and were only down 12-4 against Wenty, who had 7 NSW Cup quality players (4 who dropped down just for this game), in the first 35mins. They're a very young side (avg 21-22), with most never having played Bundy before (most jumping up from A or even A-Reserves) and they just don't hold the intensity for the full 40 of each half. The loss last weekend was a huge shock, as they pumbled the same mob 44-16 in the 1st round. Their 5/8, Trent Tamou, was out, and the 7 (I've been told he's played a few Qld Cup games this year) was apparently in his first game. They also lost 3 players to injury which didn't help in the back end. Edited by slick, Jul 4 2012, 12:53 PM.

I guess all struggling teams compete for so long in their matches and show glimpses of form, Wests included yet its the final scoreline that's looked at in the end no matter how good a loosing side plays in patches. In the end, struggling teams lack the intensity to play the full 80 mins hence blow out scores. 10-0 down against Cabramatta with 5 mins to go but end up loosing 50-4? If the halfback you refer to is Rex Johnson, he's played with Tweed Heads Seagulls before but I'm unaware he played QLD Cup this year. |

Point I'm trying to make is that with a few stronger players they would definitely be able to compete, just as if Wests had 3-4 stronger players...trying to see the positives ;-) |

I understand what you're saying in that it will strengthen B/NR but will it stengthen Wests for the rest of the year? Like I said before, each to their own. I don't think it will strenghen Wests but you have a different view and I'll leave it at that. |

It allows your fringe players to experience Bundy, which is higher than any A-Grade they were playing before, so that if they need to call upon them, they should be able to call on those experiences (naturally, from the start of the season would have been more beneficial, for both clubs)...for Wests to move higher, they definitely need to attract 3-4 higher level players, BNRU cannot assist there. I think its great that fringe Wests players are getting a chance to play at the highest level they can. Hopefully they can taste some wins as well! Good luck BNRU! |

BNRU went down 42-38 to Mounties, who are sitting 3rd. Only the one wests player, in the centres, today. He was quite strong and is definitely Bundy quality. It's fair to say, that 3 of the 5 who have played so far are Bundy quality, and only injury kept the other 2 who played last week, out, I believe. |

Hope so. Mounties also had 4 regular NSW Cup players drop down for the game so was a very good effort. BNRU lost their starting 7 25-30mins in and lost Andrew Emilio with I think about 15-20 to go. BNRU won the last 60min 34-10. With getting it back from 32-4 to 32-20 at HT, Mounties would have gone into the sheds knowing it was game on. They came out and put on the first try, but it was all BNRU till the last 2mins when perhaps Mounties' class got them down the BNRU end, got 2 repeat sets, then strolled over on the left edge, after BNRU were out on their feet. Great game all round.

looks like the BNRU/Wests relationship is working already with the tough performance from Wests on the weekend. I hear that Trent (yes I kow he was originally with Wests) and the centre Joe had solid games. Hopefully we'll get to see a few more BNRU boys step up and help out where they can. |
