A smart man and footy lover popped this idea into my head, and you know what.... he's on the money. What we need is a an alliance between all the stake holders in the Macarthur District. The Western Suburbs Magpies, Group 6, the Footy Clubs, the referees association, the Leagues Club. Basically we take back control of Rugby League in the area. We set up a new administration with a new Board comprised of 7 Elected members. The Magpies Rugby League Football Club is to fall 100% under the Alliances control, giving the alliance 1 seat on the Wests Tigers board. The Alliances job is to - act as the areas district club for the entire Group 6 and Wests Junior League Areas. - Field Harold Matthews, SG Ball and Bundy Cup side for the area keeping the 104 year old Magpie flag flying - work with the governing bodies and councils to ensure the area continues to get the facilities we need. - the Under 16's and below club competitions to be split into North and South regions. - under 18's and seniors to compete in a full district competition run by Group 6 - Find funding and sponsorship through local businesses. - Work with local schools and the UWS Tertiary Rugby League side - Work with Wests Tigers for a better deal for the area - Work with Wests Leagues Campbelltown for sufficient funding. Apply to be affiliated with the NSWRL to replace the Wests Junior League. Finally have the Magpies being run and administered by locals, breaking off its inner city ties and really becoming the areas local representative team. I think this is a bloody great idea and probably the answer to all our problems. What's peoples thoughts, and how can we make this happen. |

Good thinking Galahs... But i was under the assumption that Wests Campbelltown were not interested in supporting Wests Magpies Branded teams and would rather focus on Wests Tigers branded teams?? There is No magpies memorabilia or branding in the leagues club. |

Then they don't enter the alliance. I'm sure they would want to be a part of it. |

I've also heard a rumour that a certain Mr Trodden isn't happy that the Campbelltown teams were allowed to play in Group 6. Some say he's only seen Campbelltown from behind the glass of a corporate box. |

When Trodden can locate Campbelltown on a map, he will have the right to have a say. Which means he will never have the right to have a say. |

If this is done smartly and not as an attention seeking stunt then rugby league in the area can be given the priority it deserves. The buy in of major stakeholders is essential ie Group 6, NSWRL, ARLC but we all know that Wests Junior league won't come on board as that would be like signing their own death warrant. So how do we get around that? Make then the only body that isn't supporting the motion. This needs to start from the bottom, like a ground swell movement, so that any management committee will see that opposing it will alienate the common people, otherwise Management will dictate the terms to suit themselves. For starters clubs in Gr 6 (traditional Gr 6 and Campbelltown clubs) AND Wests senior clubs need to be all on the same page, form their own league as such (Macarthur Rugby League) and have the right people representing them. I hated what Super League did for footy but its about time the people that play the game, officiate and volunteer at club level get a better say so that common sense prevails and RL propspers. Work together rather than stab each other, why cut off you nose to spite your face??? Wests Group need to be on board which means Wests Tigers has to see the benefits. Lets be realistic and not ask for the unachievable, or be vindicative or self centred. |

Galah, it was a pleasure to meet you at the rally, I'm here to help and love a fight, lets move with this alliance, We need to unify all districts/clubs/Leagues Clubs/Rugby League and if they dont want to unify, time to get rid of these people, People united will never be defeated, I was a Union Shop Stewart in my day.
