The board, coaching staff and supporters of the Western Suburbs Magpies would like to thank Dean for his trememdous efforts this year in the black & white jersey. Dean was granted a release to join Penrith so he could pursue his dream of playing in the NRL and will line up this weekend for the Windsor Wolves in the number nine jersey in their top of the table clash against Canterbury at Lidcombe Oval. Dean joined Wests just after the season commenced and made his debut for Western Suburbs in round 2 against Wentworthville coming off the bench but soon cemented his place in the starting line up in the number nine jersey. He played a total of 14 games for Wests scoring 1 try. He never gave anything less then 100% and was often battered and bruised when he finished a game. His high work rate in defence and dummy half skills are a feature of his game. We wish Dean all the best for the future and hope he emulates the likes of Andrew Everingham & Mitch Achurch as former Western Suburbs Magpies who graduate to the NRL. Thank you Dean, you will be sorely missed. |

Personally, I'd be surprised if he wasn't on the radar of EVERY club we played against this year - he's a very good player. He was the regular number 9 for Wests Tigers U20's in 2010 before suffering injuries and missing virtually all of 2011. In 2010 he kept Pat Politoni out of the starting lineup in the U20s and had it not been for injuries, might just well have been BRET's number 9 now instead of Pat. |

Yes, now I am over both NSW losing and Dean moving on, I say thanks Dean-you wer a bright spot in a pretty rough season to date. I knew he'd get signed by another club, just hoped it would be at season's end. |

Hopefully this will only encourage more players to come to the magpies for a chance to make it to the NRL. The pathway to success! Congrats Dean! |
