It's now the end of July; We need a decision

We were told that be the end of June a decision on the future of a Magpies NSW Cup team would be made so we could vote on it.

Still we have nothing, and 21 days notice still needs to be given to members for a vote.

We cannot have a repeat of this year.

It is time our club put all its weight behind fielding a Magpies NSW Cup team in 2013.

Politics aside, would a standalone Wests NSW Cup side have the funds to compete on the player market with the bigger clubs, who all have NRL relationships? Would hate to see the same results next year for the Maggies...

It would if Wests Ashfield commits its money now, not hold it back until the last minute like this year
Even more if we could get Wests Campbelltown on side?

The club should be proactive in securing more sponsorship also.

So its obvious Wests Tigers or Balmain havent agreed to the conditions so lets get on with standing alone

I would have to say that the deal breaker is Wests Magpies insistance on being the district football club, thus the continuance of the Magpie name. Whether this refusal is from the Juniors or West Tigers desire to take over the LOT is not really a point of contention if : Western Suburbs Magpies releive W/T of THEIR own responsibility to the S.G.Ball & Harold Matts squads and NSW CUP sides. On the NSW cup : Give Balmain a time frame to yay or nay a single side under W/T or DEMAND equal representation / distribution to BOTH NSW cup sides.

Im getting very tired of waiting to see what Balmain does. As Galahs says, lets get on with a view that we are playing next year and beyond. If we secure sponsorship for next year, it would only help make the decision easier to stand alone! But unfortunaltey the people on the board of Wests Magpies arent interested in doing anything about moving forward. I believe its time for a meeting or another protest.

Youll be hearing me friday night yelling out from the hill at Lidcombe Oval what a joke the current board is....I'm not scared or worried if I ruffle a feather feathers along the way! And I would like this season to be officialy known as the "Luibinkus" year. Ill be yelling out this name whenever we drop a ball, miss a tackle or conceded a try. It wont be know as having a Barry, but having a Lubinkuis!

I just want to hear SOMETHING from our board about next year.

Keeping football club members informed isn't too much to ask.

Let us know what's going on, PLEASE!!

Look at what Wests Magpies demands are to give up the NSW cup side. Really only one is undeliverable and that is them being made the district club. The juniors have aligned themselves with the W/T. Neither want Magpies involvement other than in name and money. I think the Magpies know that this would eventually disappear (sooner than later) if they aren't the district club and be renamed W/T. So unless W/T do the dirty on the juniors hierarchy and Magpies stick to their demands they won't give up the NSW cup side., If this is the case then a strong argument should be put as 50/50 joint venture partners they want the surplus NRL players to go to side that is part of the joint venture, not an amalgamation of any other clubs not part of the joint venture.

I've been reliably informed that a decision will be forthcoming within the fortnight. I haven't been told whether it's good or bad but from the small slivers of information I could eke out, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances.

However, this isn't confirmed as yet.

Thanks True Blue Maggie.

Could you also tell me, was Gobbs an elected board member of the football club, and then made a full time employee of the club as football operations manager? I didnt quite understand what had happened when it was explained at the General Meeting.

Gobbs was apptd as ops mgr and once this was confirmed he stood down from the board as it would have been a conflict of interest.
