Do you think we will make it on to Community Oval this Saturday night? I don't like the chances according to the weather forecast its suppose to be fine & sunny Saturday, wether its enough to dry the ground remains to be seen.

The way this weather is going Community Oval will be in the Wingecarribee River.
I went to Goulburn yesterday and the weather was relentless. There was a lot of water on the side of the road. Its not looking promising at moment. Ground saturated and it is still raining lightly today so not getting a chance to dry out. It could give the Dragons a chance on a muddy ground, freezing night. The Workers will hate it.
I remember years ago when Camden were the hot side (mid 90's if my memory is any good) Mossy played them on a freezing cold sunday in the rain, the Dragons werent travelling that well in the comp but pulled off a boil over and rolled the Rams. They hated it.
Might have to play rain, hail or shine on Saturday to see if the same can happen

Would it be the Moss Vale club or the Wingencaribbe council's call on whether the ground re-opens or not?

I remember back in the mid 90's when it rained at Community Oval the sewer would overflow and every cut and scratch got infected the week after the game. There was no side stepping on the slippery cricket pitch as you went arse over apex trying to get traction.

Jetter I dont know about the sewer but I remember the cricket pitch, it was brilliant. It was even better when the pitch dried out and had the razor edges on it. Used to love yelling at the opposition about jamming them on the pitch. They didnt know which way to run or look, especially the wingers on kick returns
Jetter I remember playing you lot out at Catherine Fields in early 90's and I think they had put chook sh%t all over it. We had 3-4 guys in hospital with blood poisoning

They used to play cricket on Mossy's ground? That makes me feel young lol. 1998 was the last season the pitch was in the middle of community oval, a new turf wicket was then made at lackey park where it remains today. I believe the pitch was removed as a duty of care to the players not sure if it was a directive from council or group 6.

Wollondilly's message is still from Tuesday saying that grounds will be reassess on Thursday pending the weather - it's still raining in Picton.
I know it's frustrating to have grounds shut but we need to consider the damage done to the playing surface if they weren't? We still want to be playing on something at the end of the season and into the finals.
Wollondilly does very little to improve the playing fields in it's area as it is - especially the RL ones.

Catherine Fields was the first place we thought of in 2011 to train/ play out of, until we saw it had been made into a baseball field.
