FOUR very lucky Highlands boys will have the chance to play on some of the best rugby league grounds England has to offer this month.

Dylan Readman (Moss Vale Dragons), who will be captaining the team, along with Hayden Wallace, Patrick Sutton and Ryan Turner (Mittagong Lions) will be a part of the Group 6 under-18s team who will fly out on September 21 to tour the United Kingdom.

As part of the tour they will face Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves and Halifax under-18 Academy teams.

All matches will be played at international venues

This will be the third time Group 6 has toured England and the team will be keen to beat their traditional rivals.

As part of the tour the players will go to Scotland and visit Edinburgh Castle, York Castle, along with other interesting and historical sites in the north of England.

Former NRL player and England international Harvey Howard has been helping organise the tour.

Howard currently works in the Highlands.

All four boys played for Country this year and faced a number of development squads from across the state before they were selected for the touring team.

Readman said the team trained twice a week at Thirlmere and had started to gel together.

"It's good at the moment, everyone's getting along. We're pretty much like a family," he said.

The team has been missing five South Australian players who they will meet over in England.

"We meet them over in England so we'll welcome them in and we have a few training sessions before our first game. Our first game's two days after we land so we haven't got much time."

Readman said they had seen video footage of their opposition and were expecting a tough tour.

"Last time they versed Leeds they lost 44-10 and over there they play under-19s. We're all just 17 and 18 so we expect they'll be pretty big boys. So we've just got to beat them around the ruck."

With family over in England, Readman said he hoped to play well and get picked up by a club.

"I wanted to be captain and I got captain so to lead the boys around will be good and I do want to play my best over there. I've got family over there so it'll be good to try get a scholarship."

With players having to pay their own way over to England, a fundraising night will be held tomorrow at Highlands Golf Club from 7pm.

There will be sports memorabilia auctioned off and the boys will also be selling raffle tickets.

Tammy

As discussed I indicated last week, I would supply the Hearing details direct to you

•Hearing of Daniel Draper (Campbelltown Eagles LRFC) 30th July 2013
•Judiciary Panel – Kevin Felgate, Peter Mehl & John Mewburn
•Charge of Contrary Conduct (serious)
•Having viewed evidence and considered all documentation placed before us, the Judiciary Committee has found Daniel - Guilty of Contrary Conduct
•Given in his statement – Daniel wished to have “no further part in Group 6 Rugby League Inc. or the Country Rugby League” the panel has agreed with this statement and will acknowledge this
•Should he at a later time wish to seek re-affiliation in any form, you are to make application to the administration of that time

Kevin Felgate

Daniel Draper was found guilty of contrary conduct ( making unkind comments about Group 6 to the media )

There has been no penalties been laid upon him, accept by his own suggestion that he stay away from Group 6 games. He suggested this and is happy to comply with his own request by the CRL to do so.

8 charges, 7 not guilty, 1 guilty with the guilty charge being for voicing his opinion for what happened to the Eagles.

So to all that requested it Black and White, Pastrami and any body else that wanted it, This is what you asked for and 7 not guilties speaks for itself.

Responding to the above comment that was posted in the Wests thread.

At the time of the meeting all the charges were believed to be encompassed by the "Contrary Conduct" charge and lumped together - Daniel Draper was informed of this at the hearing by Kevin Felgate. He was found guilty of contrary conduct - this doesn't mean he was found not guilty of the other charges, they were amalgamated under the one charge. So it's misleading to claim that he was found not guilty of 7 of the original 8 charges. No where in the above "proof" provided does it say "not guilty".

The penalty was suspension from the ongoing Group 6 Comp which he stated he wanted nothing more to do with - the panel were obviously happy to oblige, hence the point "•Given in his statement – Daniel wished to have “no further part in Group 6 Rugby League Inc. or the Country Rugby League” the panel has agreed with this statement and will acknowledge this ".

The period of the suspension is not defined so it is "ongoing" until the Group 6 general committee changes it's mind. Happily for everyone involved Daniel will never have to be involved in Group 6 & any CRL comp again.

It is up to, and within the right of other Comps - those under the control of NSWRL - to extend that suspension to all comps under their control if they chose to. We will have to wait and see if that happens but given the history between the JL and the man, I don't think it's much of a stretch that they will extend the suspension to their comp as well.

The Eagles have gone from Group 6 and I really don't want to keep harping on about the issue but I felt that there was a lot of misinformation flying about and the announcement(highlighted in red) that Daniel had been found innocent of all charges, is just blatantly wrong. Maybe somewhere in the "Eaglesverse" no means yes but in the real world guilty means guilty, otherwise there are a lot of people populating the country's goals that are now "technically" not guilty. Let's hope that next season is a better one for all comps.

I'm sure that all those on the W.S.D.J.R.L thread who complained bitterly about Group 6 people making comments on their thread will now come screaming over to this one to tell me I'm wrong and that he actually is the messiah.

I cant agree with you Black and White. The original charge sheet has 8 separate charges and only the number 1. charge of "Contrary Conduct" has he been found guilty of. As usual G6 make allegations but never ever put anything in writing on this forum for people to see or read. Please post something from the CRL that states that all charges have been grouped into one charge and that it is what he is guilty of. And then explain why he has had no penalties put upon him apart from his self suggested exile from G6.

I mean this with the utmost respect, but there is an old saying Put up or shut up.

Oh, I'm sorry, am I not able to post on the Group 6 thread either?

The man was there surely he can confirm that this was what was stated at the meeting.

I don't care whether you agree or disagree - I'm simply setting the record straight - you opened up this can of worms stating that he was found "not guilty" - show us where "not guilty" is written.

And to quote you, "I mean this with the utmost respect, but there is an old saying Put up or shut up."

Maverick for your sake I really hope ur playing devils advocate in this case and you don't really believe this! Your memory is short just look at his behavioural pattern has issues with BOTH competitions absolutely slagged off wests wen joining G6 which at the time he couldn't speak highly enough of now vice versa! For a man that genuinely cares about rugby league and your club ur making a massive misjudgment on who u are strenuously defending! So he flicked you a few players this year what had he done to make you so sure that so many people in so many respected positions in rugby league are wrongfully persicuting him!

Well deserved by both players. I must say, however, Scott Borg finished one point behind them and he failed to poll a single point in the last round. I was at that game and I doubt anyone in the crowd would disagree with my opinion that he was the best player on the field.

I understand it's hard to come up with an alternative system for voting, and I believe the refs would rather not have the responsibility, but some of the points awarded from games I saw were mind boggling.

No Picton or Oakdale player appeared on the leader board at all.

But, I repeat, well deserved by both players. Corby was outstanding the 3 or 4 times I've seen him this year. And Gallant is all class.

Definatly agree with you foal and if its not obvious from there rulings sometimes there point allocation really does highlight the fact that they view the game very differently to the spectator!
Mind boggling is a very fitting assesment! I think this year 2 very deserving winners but I think there's been some very fourtunate recipients in the past!

It's weird that no oakdale or Picton players were near the top there is a number of players that could of easily taken it out from them teams rory vale was a standout all year

Some referees always give the losing team 2 points, even when the result is 50-0, it cost Todd Pes Player of the year in 2010 when we flogged Narellan 56-6 in the final round that year

Who would have expected this Grand Final at the beginning of the season?

Considering the team they have on paper it was surprising to see them so low on the ladder at the beginning of the season them sneaking into the final 5 were always going to be a danger for the title were ever they finished

Mittagong will have all 3 grades in and attempt to be the first club I think since City in 1975 to lift all 3.
I think Narellan had all 3 in, in 2004 but the 18s got rolled??
Appin & Camden had all 3 in, in 1994. Appin won the minor grades, Rams the one that matters.

From Hilton Middleton's book, Mittagong & Picton have met three times in G6 1st Grade deciders-
in 1966, a 7-nil victory to Picton, allowing them to claim the Clayton Cup, and their first title since 1935.
In 1967 the John Cole inspired Lions outfit upset the Maggies, who were eyeballing a consecutive Clayton Cup.
In 1987, Picton claimed their third straight premiership, a 24-16 victory over a young Lions outfit, the nucleus of which took them to titles in 88, 91 & 95. Picton were coached by the late Robert Stone, former St George twice premiership winning front rower.
