Geddes joins the DragonsBy Lauren Wright Nov. 21, 2012 Former Souths player Scott Geddes will be part of the Moss Vale Dragons coaching staff for the 2013 season. Photo by Cameron Spencer/Getty Imageshttp://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/1133314/geddes-joins-the-dragons/?cs=264MOSS VALE Dragons will return to first grade next year and have also acquired former South Sydney Rabbit's player Scott Geddes as part of their coaching staff. Geddes was originally going to play but has recently had surgery on his pectoral muscle and said he felt he would not be right for next season. New first grade coach Andrew Bowie played junior football with Geddes and they also played together at Parramatta. Bowie was instrumental in bringing Geddes to the club and Dragons president Greg Maloney said they were thrilled to have him for next year. Coming straight from the NRL, Geddes will have a lot to do with the Dragons strength and conditioning and Bowie said it was a great opportunity for all the players. "It's a massive opportunity for them to learn and even for myself. It should be something different," he said. Bowie has been involved with the junior Dragons for a number of years and won a premiership with the under-16Bs this year. He will now step up to first grade and said he hoped to form a premiership winning team. "They needed a coach and I enjoy coaching so why not? Semi-final and grand final football isn't beyond us." "It's going to be a big season for us, hopefully very successful." Bowie said they key for Moss Vale at the start of next season would be fitness. "If your not fit then your behind the eight ball." Maloney said Bowie had "hit the ground running" and the club "couldn't be more happy with how he's started." Peter McGuinness will coach the under-18s again, with all players from this year's grand final team set to return for the 2013 season. "Certainly at this time there's great enthusiasm around the Moss Vale ranks with the under-18s doing so well and re-entering first grade," Maloney said. While the Dragons are still in the market for a front rower and five-eighth, Maloney said they were pleased to have a number of players returning to the club from overseas to bolster their ranks. Training for the Dragons will start on Friday at 6pm at Community Oval, with training on Tuesday nights at Lackey Park. Maloney said any interested players were welcome to attend and he looked forward to their first match of the season on march 24 next year against Mittagong Lions. This is great stuff for Mossy... things are looking good for 2013.well done

Hearing a few whispers that Mac Bulls have folded and the few remaining people have moved over to the Eagles with Hughes to coach the Eagles 2nd division side..
Seems the Bulls big plan of getting 1st grade and juniors etc has fallen to do-do.
The bulls were told they would have to make changes to their roster if they were to stay in 2nd division. It's hard for them, if they were allocated Iran park I think they may have made it
If that is the case with Mac Bulls does that mean that all their players are 2 point players as their team has folded? Other info on here seems to support the Bulls would be struggling as their 18's have gone back to ESA or Appin??? It would be hard to take as a player / official from another team if this is the case as it will only make the Eagles stronger, the rich get richer as they say! Can anyone confirm this or still just a silly season rumour? All existing appin players that went to other clubs eg: narellan, thirlmere, picton all became 10 point players. Apparently thirlmere Asked to have them as two point players when they were having cap issues based on the fact they had no where else to go, but was overturned! So I can't see bulls players being any different.

Plenty of young blokes there that are quite capable of filling that role.... Jordy Grey, Ryan Knight??? After all you need to look after the locals first....

Seems the Bulls big plan of getting 1st grade and juniors etc has fallen to do-do. Good to be back home, for those interested in our 2nd Division, we have Gary Potts that has applied as our 2nd Division coach, Gary done a great job for 2009 and 2010, we haven't had no one from MacArthur Bulls asking to come and we have plenty of juniors to fill in the 2nd Division positions.
We will let you know after next week, where all our club details will be sent out in a media release!

It sounds like Appin is making a positive charge for 2013, Picton getting some handy coaching staff, and Moss Vale on the right track makes for a strong Group 6 Competition for 2013!

Spoke to one of the boys yesterday - Most are headed off to Union with Campbelltown Harlequins or retired - None mentioned any thing related to Eagles.

Thats something the Dragons always try and do, promote their juniors. Ryan Knight will be an unlikely starter due to breaking his back last season and jordy grey is a distinct possibility but will need guidance as he has only played a handful of 1st grade games, hence why they are looking for an experienced playmaker to bring these young blokes along for the long term

There was a lot of do-do on the forum about our club earlier, but here's confirmation that everyone was seeking First Grade Coach: Brendon Reeves Reserve Grade Coach: Mark Georgiades First Grade signings: Kyle Weh, Matt McCauley, Graeme Martin, Brad Cameron, Nick Crouch, Jye Douglas, Tom Moon, Todd Pes, Ben Fryer, Bart Masters, Sam Conlon Someone mentioned earlier that Ty O'Brien signed with City, well he hasn't signed with us, so it could be a possibility

Not professional to say names, but do know em well, as my kid played with em for a few years. There goes all the jargon about all the collies boys coming to Appin. I know this guy is a good source as he is In the know at collies, and no it is not Ronnie.
