Any word on Bargos application for Jnrs?
The Bargo club's existence has definitely had an adverse effect on Picton seniors. Any junior club being formed there would absolutely be harmful to our juniors. I hope it never gets up, particularly because of the amount of spite directed at our club from certain people at the bunnies.
I won't offer an opinion on this because i know nothing about it,
but the bargo area is a lot further away from Picton than it is Thirlmere, and maybe even Mittagong.
Why is there spite involved?
Well, here's what I know:

A huge percentage of their club are former Picton people. A number of committee members, coach, many players, all used to be either actively involved at our club or were staunch supporters coming to every home game. When you include their partners and families, that's a he'll of a lot of support that we've lost. There are also a number of sponsors that followed their key members to their club and declined to support us anymore. They have actively persued Picton players also. Chris Bowers was told they'd organise private sponsorship to pay him to go and play 3rd grade there this year rather than play 1st grade for us.

Now, the majority of these former Picton people have no I'll feeling towards the magpies and in fact still show us some measure of support, but there are a couple (particularly one) extremely influential people in the bunnies that do their best to make it hard for us, especially by using their influence on group and other committees to put up road blocks.

Early last year when they were looking for a home ground a member from our club proposed that they play home games at Picton, before our reserve grade. We figured that, especially given the number of people from their club friendly to Picton, they'd at least be open to considering this mutually beneficial arrangement. Unfortunately when their member in charge of constructing road blocks got wind of it the reply from said member was a swift "the Bargo Bunnies will NOT be doing anything which will benefit Picton".

The worst thing is we can only speculate as to why this level of negativity comes from this small faction. There are no known altercations or ongoing feuds fuelling it. They left entirely of their own accord, on good terms, after many years of service. Perhaps the person or people in question simply don't like the thought of our club being successful after they've chosen to move on.
Some people may not like this but i don't think a bunch of volunteers from existing clubs have a right to say NO to Bargo fielding a junior club.... they have a school in the area and currently have some players running around at Picton, Mittagong and Thirlmere... who are the other clubs to tell Bargo that they can or can't have a crack at starting a junior club.... i think it's totally wrong... I hope the CRL have a look at it and make a wise decision off their own back rather than super powers like Thirlmere saying NO to Bargo because they might lose 5 of their 310+ players.... very unfair
I'm sorry but I don't agree at all. How would you feel if Oakdale decided to start up a junior club or Wallacia, Silverdale, Lakesland. Let's have a whole lot of unsustainable tiny clubs starting up just because some disgruntled ex committee members of bigger clubs have an axe to grind. Oakdale have a school and they have a ground, so no problems! Of course that will effect the Oaks but so what.....

Thirlmere is a big club, they have the facilities to support their size and a dedicated committee that has worked very hard over a number of years to develop their youngsters. So of course they need to be slapped down - how dare they be successful - how dare they benefit from their planning and hard work.

The general committee's job is to make decisions in the best interests of our players and competition and creating 30 "Bowrals" is not the way to go.

Tell me how good the situation is when mini teams are playing Bargo in the paddock behind the Bargo Sports Club, with no fence and no facilities - being told they have to go into the auditorium to use the toilets.

Or tell me how fantastic it is to appoint referees to 15 different grounds every Saturday because all these new, tiny little clubs are demanding their home and away games.
I agree with what you say also BW and i didn't know that there was an axe to grind with other clubs... starting a club for just that reason isn't right at all....

They may start up and collapse but who are we as members of other clubs (who were once voted in by the other clubs) to say NO your not doing it...

I think they should be given a chance and if they can field 1 team in 2013 (they have stated that they would like to get kids that don't already play football) that would be a success....

But again i do agree with some of the points you have raised... but i just think when voting, the clubs need to think about how they would feel if they were in Bargo's shoes and pushing to enter into the competition...

There is a lot more behind this than you realise. Bargo's "PR" and what is actually happening are two different things.
You would know more than i would haha... so i believe you... and if they are doing it for those reasons then they don't deserve to be part of our great competition in 2013...

Roos negotiating with Appin for Sat Feb 23rd atm yet to be confirmed, were trying to get a G7 club for the 2nd March but it is still too far out for them until their Round 1 fixture and we have Lithgow coming to the Fortress on 9th/10th March atm.
With our comp starting so early, difficult to line up with other clubs and Groups of similar standing. I see that Central Coast- Newcastle has an all 3 Grades knockout comp that looks alright. Good to trial out of area IMO.

Earlier this month a player of our club Andrew Kerrigan had a very unfortunate fall from a balcony in Cronulla, where his face landed between a metal spiked fence. He was in an induced coma and broke his jaw, and required plastic surgery on his face. He is relatively ok now, but to support him a member of our First Grade, Graeme Martin is going to run from the Camden end of Burragorang Road to Sid Sharpe Oval at Oakdale before our first training session on Thursday the 31st of January. It's an effort of over 20kms and a climb nearing 300 metres.
The playing group has already pledged in excess of over $2000 and we are looking for sponsors to support this great cause.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone that knows Kerro, particularly those at the picton club where he was a junior will know that he is a great bloke and a very kind fella.
One of the the Jets major sponsors asked me to let you know that he will contribute $500 to the cause.

Roosters Traffic Control, who most of you will know, has been a great supporter not only of the Jets but other clubs and individuals, has put his hand in his own pocket to donate the money.

When all is done and dusted it is the rugby league fraternity who look after each other, and hopefully other clubs/supporters can help out.

TC, give the Jets Secretary a call to arrange payment.

When all is done and dusted it is the rugby league fraternity who look after each other, and hopefully other clubs/supporters can help out. Everyone comes on here to vent, do-do stir, PR their own club, piss on other clubs - thats what tribalism and rugby league is all about. Whilst we (well not me personally anymore) bashed each others brains out on the field at the end of the day we all go the pub, have a beer and shake each others hand cause it is that comaralderie that makes this game the great game that it is.

TC, give the Jets Secretary a call to arrange payment.
That's massively generous.
Good that rugby league bands together.
We'll accommodate him too
Can't thank you enough

I'm going to throw myself out there. I'm looking for a club in 2013. Whilst i have been talking to clubs, i'm still going to ask. I am a Utility player, yes, with a bit of weight on me, But i'm sure that i haven't lost anything i once had. If you are looking for a player who can fill many positions, just let me know. Cause i'm your man! haha
I didn't see you at our training the other night. What happened?
Work commitments held me back, will be down to look this week! How was the turn out?

Good turn out. Had about 40 grade players. Less on Wednesday due to the heat (I didn't show either) and a bunch of guys at the big day out.

Tough work getting a committed genuine 3rd grade in this day and age. Without incentives from the Group or the CRL in terms of reduced insurances or favourable draws etc, it becomes very difficult to service this team in a system in which the majority of your resources are allocated towards building a competitive 1st Grade team.
We did it in 2010-11, and without a committed captain- coach and core of 10 players who can't be selected in reserve grade, we wouldn't entertain it again sadly. Costings the biggest issue and would need to run off a budget sourced independently from the 1st-Res-18s setup.

I think 3rd grade helps the bigger clubs massively, it shouldn't be neglected in my opinion. Some games are of quality and are often Reserve grade standard.
